Hey! wow! I just started reading this log and wow! as far as logs go this one rocks! anyway! i'm getting my blood tests done tomorrow then i'm getting my prescription for the tane and i saw you talking about supplements and i was wondering what was up with that... like i saw vitamin e... is there anything else you would recommend? Also do you just use normal chapstick? because my derm said that wouldn't be enough, then conveniently suggested a $10 dollar tube of "special" chapstick they sell... so i was wondering if normal chapstick will work, or if i should get the special chapstick... thanks (:
Hey there, aww thanks I like to write, especially about my skin situation with tane , I hope it helps other people. And I would suggest aquaphor I haven't had any problems with dryness of my lips. 😉 I'm pretty good about keep them moisturized in general, so tane isn't a big change in behavior for me. 😉
Day 8
The side effects are become less and less severe. The only thing I really notice is overall my body and skin are just super sensitive. My face, eyes everywhere is dry. Is this normal in day 8? My face looks so much better whenever I gentle rub the dead skin off and I can always feel it when it grows back. It's a disgusting sticky feeling. Today I got my stitches out and everybody that I came into contact with stared at me. I think i have the tane burn, I'm naturally fair and the tane is just making me pinker. Does anyone notice that their skin looks severely different in different lighting? Sometimes I look at myself and I'm like damn what am I worried about and other times I'm like oh that;s why I'm on tane. I was wondering does tane help overall with the texture of your skin?
Tip for all accutane users that I discovered last night after cleaning my ears. If you guys need to exfoliate... use a q tip with some vaseline its seriously amazing, gentle and effective. Even rubbing with my fingers is too much and has always been too much.
I have one under the skin zit on my forehead that's been there since day 3, and a couple clogged pores on my cheeks but nothing out of the ordinary.
I have a derm apt on monday, I'm still concerned about my SD if I even have it, I'm pretty sure I do. So I want to know if 40mg is okay with someone with sd or will it be harmful in the long run
And I was wondering also, say If I start clearing up and I stay clear would my course be cut short? We haven't really discussed how long my treatment will be.
Thanks again 😉 We will see how it goes. My skin hasn't looked this good in awhile. I don't know if its the pinkness that masks the overall tone but even my blemishes are tiny. I have a total of 5 tiny whiteheads and I don't even care.
Oh and BY THE WAY. So when I went to the doc last week I was 117 lbs and I'm not one to count calories or anything but I was like man that's weird I'm usually around 108 - 110. I had some idea I was either retaining so much water from tane or gettung my period. The first two days I had this theory that If I just kept drinking water even when I wasn't thirsty my body would stay properly hydrated. I mean it did but at the same time I gained about 6 lbs in water weight. I looked completely preggers.
So ladies, do not drink more and more water until you pee. That is the trick. Your body can't properly digest all that water at once. I drink prob if you measure it 2-3 cups every hour and then I pee and then I repeat the cycle. 😉 just a tip. hehhehe
Day 9
Emotionally I'm becoming calmer or more accepting of the fact that right now things are out of my control. I will however, ask my derm to lower my dose to 20 mg a day. I can't control anything but I will def feel safer with a long term course of a lower dosage. I'm def pmsing so I'm a tad bloated and tired ;-(
Last night I bought a cetephil antibacterial dry sensitive skin bar, I can't tell if I like it or not. It has that soap hotel smell. Washing my face use to be the last thing I did in the shower, now it's the first thing. I wash and then I actually moisturize n the shower while my face is still damp.
My skin is doing the best I've ever seen it. I don't understand how accutane works that fast, I have two "bigger" zits and 3 tiny whiteheads, I do not consider this an IB. I'm def drier than I have been all week, is this normal? I mean when are you suppose to feel it? I hate having dry skin ;-(. The flaking in my eyebrows has increased, so I assume the accutane is fighting the SD, if thats what it is and I'm pretty positive it is. I started exfoliating with a q tip, it's simply amazing! Non abrasive and very effective. You should def put some vaseline on 30 mins before so the dead skin comes off pretty easily.
The side effects are getting less intense. I don't really notice any of them other than dry skin. I get achy once in awhile if I bend in a certain way but nothing unbearable. I use to be a serious gym junkie (I need to get back into it) I'm talking 6 days a week 3 hours a day, 1 hr cardio, 30 mins of stretching, and hr to hr in half of weights, so nothing can compare to that soreness of that. My eyes are drier for sure. I hvae to put massive amounts of eye drops in before I go to bed else my eyes will feel gross in the morning, I've never had that problem before.
Oh and I kinda had a very small amount of wine last night, It's all good though. And I smoked weed these past two days, pot def. breaks me out whenever I smoke I get a zit on my jawline and that's the hormone area. BOOOOOOO!
Day 10
I can't believe I finished my first pack, insane! I don't know if it's because I'm less stressed but my skin is really looking good eve with a few zits on it, I do not care. I'm starting to trust that this medication will do its job and if anything goes wrong it will show up in my blood tests.
My side effects are still dry skin, hair, eyes only after I wake up, is this normal? Body aches went away. Everything is A okay.
I've started to wash my face every second day only. I feel the less i do to my skin and the more time I give it to heal and do its thing on it's own the better it will look in the long run. I'm still exfoliating with a q tip and I can't begin to describe how perfect this is for my skin. It gets rid of only the skin that is ready to come off without irritating it. It's amazing. I'm pretty sure I have sd because the skin underneath now is so freaking smooth it's ridiculous. I'm pretty excited to see what happens in a month. I have a few actives that were there from day 1 but nothing huge, I do not consider this an IB. If I do have one I will know. *crosses fingers*
Stay strong everyone. 😉
wooooo! tomorrow i finish my first month and i can't believe how fast it's finished! i'm telling you, it flies by. i only a have a few zits too. some keep cropping up but i really don't care either because all of the terrible stuff, all the bumps you could see in the sunlight, are now gone! its amazing. life feels so awesome. i was worried about depression but i swear it's the opposite effect. i'm so happy every day! i hope you feel the same way, or start to soon!

please let us know how long these big zits last
I really don't think you have seborrheic dermatitis, it wouldn't just be a question you would definitely know, and your derm would have looked at you and diagnosed it right away. I had it as a kid and the majority of cases affect the scalp, ears and neck, not the face. It is very itchy, scaly, usually yellow and almost psoraisis like. I had to use special shampoo while I had it to control the symptoms. Google images of it.
Day 11
Emotionally still very good. Trying to stay positive.
Skin is good. I got a new under the skin zit, not really worried about it. I usually break out a little when I pms.
The side effects I don't even notice anymore other than dry eyes, skin and lips. I talked to my friend who took accutane and he said that there is a plateau with the dryness ( I hope this is true).

i think i'm at the plateau of dryness. i'm having a hard time updating because there is nothing to report! i keep getting these minor bumps, but the rest of my skin looks so good, i don't even care. i can't imagine it getting much better than this. but i still have a few months left so... we'll see! this is exciting and i'm really glad you're keeping the positivity up!

it sucks ASS having it on the face... i have been suffering from it
Juila i haven't been this happy in so long, my skin is healing properly and turning over properly I feel so free its unbelievable, I'm even prepared for an IB. This drug is seriously amazing.
is your skin purging of any skin colored bumps, blackheads, whiteheads etc?
You got any update pics of your skin?

Not yet. My skin isn't purging blackheads. I do have a few whiteheads but that's normal for me.

Day 12
Emotionally feeling pretty confident. I went out yesterday with my family and a few people looked at one of my zits and I really just didn't care (like waiters). I know it's just going to get better from here.
Side effects are just not even there. It's weird. Now I only notice the dry skin. I think if you guys take care of everythung early before it gets too late, then the side effects are less intense.
Skin wise the one of my forhead that I got when I first started shrunk into my skin on its own it never came to a head and never had any pus in it it was weird. I have a few clogged pores on my chin but that's normal because I'm pmsing. I do HOWEVEr have this deep deep zit on my right cheek, its the deepest I've had since I was 12. It actually hurt when I was sleeping. Not really too worried about it, still staying hopeful. What's really really awesome is that the texture of my skin is becoming normal and beautiful. When I rub off dead skin with a q tip there isn't crazy crazy amounts like there was when I was on tazorac. it's awesome 😉

Glad you are doing well! I agree about the side effects..mine were there for like the first 5 days maybe, and now I seem mostly okay, other than starting to get dry, which i actually take as a good sign haha. But unlike you, my skin completely sucks right now! idk if i am in my IB now, or what. I hope that's what it is. i just want to get it over with.
