Wow your face looks so much better compared to Day 1. Thats funny that you mention your ears flushing at random because thats been happening to me for the past week. Ha maybe we've discovered one of accutane's random side effects.
Also I'm supposed to increase my dosage from 40Mg to 60Mg and the dermatologist told me that it shouldn't really have an effect on breaking out more. Are you taking 30 Mg twice a day or just one 60Mg pill?
BTW hows your self confidence?
ahh the ear thing is so strange! Man, mine get beat red and i can feel the heat... I take 20mg in the morning and 40mg with dinner. I know claravis only comes in 10mg, 20mg, 40mg capsules i do believe.... I'm not sure about the other brands.....like i put in my log, the only thing i got with the dose increase was several cysts on my back. They are healing now though, so I'm pretty positive it was from the increase. When is ur increase?
My self confidence is getting better...a lot actually. I can walk by people and not feel like they are looking at my skin. I still rock some facial hair to cover up some marks (as you can see in the pics) but I'd like to go clean shaven and i think i will be able to soon.
I'm on claravis too ,so my dosage increase is in about a week. During my time on Claravis, I've broken out more on my back than I usually do. I guess its just the initial process. Have you gotten a rash on your hands anytime during this process?
Hey! You are looking great! I am going to start accutane at the end of july. Right now I am doing epiduo at night and taking erythromycin, this is my medicine that i'm taking before i am doing "the last resort". I have done Monodox, monocyclin, proactive, acne free, tretinon, benzoyl peroxide, benzylclin, retinas and much much more!! So right now I have to wait because my derm doesnt like to start people on accutane in the summer. Anyways you should follow my log when I start and i will put pictures up!

Hey there!
Thanks! If the antibiotic doesn't clear you up before your course, I recommend staying on it until you begin Accutane to minimize the IB. I feel for you when it comes to trying EVERYTHING before finding something that works for acne. That something for me and many many others is Accutane. The side effects stink, but in the end I truly believe it is a miracle drug!
I can see why your derm. doesn't like to start the course in summer. My skin is so sensitive when going outside in the sun! I will def. follow your Log when you start it! By the end of July I will on my 4th month! ahhh That cant some any sooner for both of us! Best of Luck!
DAY 45
Hey guys, it's day 45 for me and I'm still chuggin' along. Breakouts are minimal, but still getting an active here and there. Side effects are getting pretty annoying. Today, I got my first nose bleed after work as I was driving home. That sucked! My lips are dry, but I am controlling them with constant cortibalm. Joint pain is pretty bothersome, but I'm taking 4 fish oil pills a day to combat that.
Almost at my 50 Day milestone! I'll post some pics in my next post in a few days! Enjoy the evening!
DAY 49
-New pics
Okay, results are VERY good! My face is nearly clear, but I just hope the few actives I am still getting subside for good. My skin is definitely overall dryer, but moisturizing 2-3 times a day comfortably take care of that problem. After moisturizing, my skin feels great for several hours. Lips are continuing to be sensitive as I am continuing to use Dr. Dan's Cortibalm. Works for the most part, but it seems like I can't ever go without putting it on my lips.
Now, for the negatives, I woke up this morning and felt like I got hit by a freakin' train. MY entire back was killing me along with my joints. I almost didn't go to the gym this morning, but it actually helped loosen me up. I am taking fish oil for it. (4 pills a day). I am continuing to drink as much water as I can each day, because I can feel if I am getting dehydrated from the accutane. I usually get a head ache and worse body pain.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my results. No mental side effects. I am taking 3 summer classes currently. (nothing too difficult, but I have no problems). I am doing well at work too. My patient interaction at the hospital is much better with clearer skin as well as with my co-workers. Everything is looking good!
PS any other suggestions with the joint/back pain?!?!
-Have a good day!
You are looking good, babe!Oh, I am encouraged!
Wish me luck, I start 40mg tomorrow, I am soooo nervous....
I need ur good vibes!!
Thanks Crystal! Don't be! The higher your dose the sooner you are done! Remember what we said, you can do anything for 6 months, with or without side effects!
I'm on day 4 of 40mg, my acne is pretty similar to yours at the start (mines a bit worse though) so I'm hoping I can see similar results to you. Thanks for the log, wish me luck!
Hey there! My first pics are after 2 months of bactrim, which did clear me up slightly, so we probably were very similar to start! My best advice is to keep a log on here of your progress! Drink Water and moisturizer! Good Luck! Keep in touch!
DAY 54.....broke the 50 day milestone!
This is just a short update.... I have a derm. appointment Tuesday, June 14th. (2 days from today)
I'm expecting a dose increase to 80mg or perhaps 100mg. Has anyone been upped from 60 mg to 100 mg after being able to control the side effects? or is it traditionally upped from 60 to 80mg? I know I'm being picky, but if I can hit the cumulative dose point quicker, I'm all over it!!
Everything is still going well with my course. I have noticed that my nose has been rough to touch, but i looked closely in the mirror and realized all the blackheads have been pushed out.
One last thing, on the side of my neck, I still have little bumps that before accutane if i popped would usually turn into cysts. Accutane really hasn't effected those at all, but I have made it a point to leave them alone. Dose anyone have the same problem?
Wow, you are having (knock on wood) a great course. Clearing up very nicely. I'm definitely thinking about doing it myself. Have the prescription in hand but Im worried about things getting so much worse while on it. Acne is very controllable right now. Actually, it's the best it's been in a while. I suppose if I take it, it would be more for my back than the face but it could all use work. Almost 30 yrs old and still battling this persistent acne is a pain.
Anyway, this has been a great blog to follow. Thanks.
DAY 59
New Pics...
Okay, so today is my 2nd day on 80mg of claravis. First, more about my derm appointment....
He told me that he usually doesn't put anyone on 80mg, but since i still had some actives on my forehead he went ahead and upped me. The only thing that worries me is that I'm still getting actives after 2 months completed. It's no where near how many i used to get, but still a discouragement. Maybe the 80mg will be what i need to kick this acne for good.
Overall my face is pretty clear besides the few actives on my forehead, but they are nearly healed. My face isn't severely dry, but i think i prevent that with moisturizing 2-3 X's a day. Scalp issues have subsided, as well as the dry eyes i was gettings.
Few negatives, my arms/hands have several dry patches that sometimes break open. I'm not even scratching either. I try to moisturize my body too, but I don't get around to it as much as my face. Usually just after i shower.
Body aches are pretty severe now. Especially flank pain. Some mornings I can't even get out of bed without a horrible stabbing feeling in my back. Eventually it loosens up, but It feels absolutely horrible first thing in the morning. Join pain isn't getting any worse as I am taking fish oil now. Sometimes my elbows/ knees feel fine, other days they hurt.
However, I don't think theres anything to do for the back pain....? I figure I'll just have to endure it to get clear skin.
Also, my derm and I talked and we are going for a 5 month course
which i did the math, and I will have 132mg/kg of body weight if I can stand 80mg the remaining months.
Have a good friday and weekend all!
