Yeah, I just put a couple of drops in with it to help it spread more easily. It's only been a couple of days of trying it, but it's all good so far. Good luck!

Great log and congrats on all your success.

I'm only a week in and in the beginning I had trouble covering my face with BP b/c I was only using a small amount so I increased but then had negative side effects - major flaking & slight peeling.

I noticed you add jojoba to the BP. That helps make it easier to cover your face with a small amount of BP? So you just mix a few drops of jojoba with the BP and that's it?

That shaving-related spot is gone now. But this morning, I woke up with a bit of round pinkness on my right temple. It's not really a spot, but it's slightly raised. It's kind of like an irritated pore. I don't think that it's going to turn into a full-blown spot as I don't seem to be getting any inflammatory acne any more. I got a similar spot in the same place a little while ago, but it was gone in a couple of days. I suspect that this one will be similarly gone soon.

Hi Cam,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. :)

It sounds like you are doing good, as usual. Are you still taking the supplements in your signature? How do you feel they have figured in to your skin success?

Brandy,

Good to hear from you. I sure am taking those supplements. It seems like the Omega 3 keeps my acne from becoming inflammatory. It seems like the zinc helps lower the chances of me getting a spot. And it seems like the vitamin C helps improve the overall quality of my skin. I haven't tried weaning myself off any of them to scientifically see what happens, but that's my anecdotal report. :)

Hope that helps.

I also used to take vitamin A, about 40 000 IU a day. It totally cleared up my skin, but the potential toxicity wasn't worth it.

Hear that, kids? Don't self-treat with vitamin A. :)

Har, I think I know some stuff.

That being said, I just added 25000 IU of beta carotene to my vitamin regimen. As I understand it, your body converts it to vitamin A as it needs it so it can't become toxic. You have to watch out for too-high doses, though, so that your skin doesn't turn orange. From what I've read, 25000 IU should be fine for most people.

I'm not a doctor, though, so no one should take my advice over that of their regular medical practitioner.

:) I remember when my boys were babies, they loved babyfood carrots and sweet potatoes so much that their little noses turned orange.

A couple of days ago, I got one of those flat, round pinkness things on my right temple again, just like I had in my August 26 post. It was nearly gone the next morning, but I'm wondering what kind of spots I seem to be getting in that area are. It's barely there, and my guy barely noticed it, even when I pointed it out.

Anyway, I'm continuing on with the same Regimen and hoping that it's just one of those random things.

It's been a while since I've said this so here goes. "Thanks, Dan!"

Holy crap. Even a couple of years ago, I couldn't have imagined having long stretches of clear skin. Mostly, I would wake up, look in the mirror, and say, "Good enough." And there were quite a few times where I just wanted to crawl back into bed and hide the lumps under my pillow.

But thanks to Dan and his Regimen, I'm clear nearly all the time. Just freaking amazing. Thanks!

When I was washing my face last night, I noticed that the spot was a little bigger than before. It still wasn't an inflammatory spot, just a clogged pore, filled with gunk. I took care of it, swabbed it with a bit of rubbing alcohol, slathered on the BP and AHA+ cream, and left it to its own devices. This morning, it was almost completely gone. A dab of concealer, and we're good to go.

It's starting to get a bit cooler and drier here so I've added another drop of jojoba to my moisturizing routine.

OK, so I'd been getting those minuscule spots a little too frequently so I decided to go back to 1/2 a finger of BP, and it seems to keep everything all clear consistently. So that's what I'm settling on after a while of reducing my BP.

I think it's kind of wild when people say I have great skin. If only they knew what my untreated skin looked like. Thanks, Dan.

You'd probably be surprised as to what your skin looks like naturally, probably better than you think.

As an update, I am no longer using BP or anything else in the mornings. This has been going on for about 3 weeks (even with being sick and using makeup) and absolutely no bacterial acne. My comedonal acne is still there but, I'm using a heavy retinol at night.

Still can't get my head wrapped around that one. I've been using acne products since I was 8 years old and next month I'm turning 23. There's always this thought in the back of my mind that I'm going to "Skin Hell" for shirking the BP.

Good luck and keep it up.

Eryka,

Thanks for stopping by. Well, before I started the Regimen, I decided to see what my skin would look like without any products. Let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. It looks like I've inherited the skin that all my siblings have: prone to acne well into the 40s and 50s. I'm in my 30s now, and I'm not fussed about managing it with the Regimen until I naturally grow out of it.

I did want to find out how little I could get away with, which I why I was weaning myself off of it. For me, 1/2 a finger of BP twice a day does the trick. I'm always trying to improve my skin so who knows what I'll try to tweak next, but for now, I'm thrilled with my current regimen.

Best of luck with your regimen and skin!

I've had a minor clogged pore on my forehead for over a year now. It hasn't budged with the AHA so I decided to go after it. With a little effort, I managed to dislodge it without causing much trauma. I rubbed it down with alcohol and put some extra BP and AHA on it that night to prevent it from getting infected. A few days on, and it's nearly healed. No more clogged pore.

Nothing else to report.

Quick update: Clogged pore healed completely. No new spots in forever. The half a finger of BP has done the trick.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. So that small spot had gotten larger over the last day or so. So this morning, I decided to try to deal with it. And now, over the course of the day, it's gotten even larger and angrier. I guess it wasn't ready, and now it's going to take even longer to heal. How long have I had acne? And still I don't really know how best to deal with spots. Grr.

Friday was a little embarrassing. The spot was a scabby monstrosity, about 5 mm or so across. People were being nice about not staring, but I was glad this weekend when the scab sloughed off. It's a little pink still, but at least I can dab some concealer on it.

It was my fault to treat it with hydrogen peroxide. That always leaves a scab, but the bubbling is just so satisfying. My bad.

Oh yeah, I know that one. I've had acne for 15 years and I still push it when dealing with a spot. Even though I know waiting just 2 or 3 days will make the extraction better. Duh.

Wise words, Eryka. I should have waiting longer and saved myself the trouble. When are you going back to Ameryka?

I got another small shaving-related mini-spot. This time, I left the darned thing alone, and it was gone in a couple of days. Lesson learned. Clear otherwise. I have upped my BP to a full pump, though, just to make sure it all stays that way.

Those were weird holidays for my skin. I must have been a shaving maniac because I had a couple of crazy ingrown hairs. They didn't get inflamed, and I left them pretty much alone, but they were a little unsightly. It's winter; I should just grow a darned beard.

It's been really dry here, and not even the jojoba is keeping the dryness in check. I'm slathering on a thicker layer of moisturizer to counteract it, and that seems to be working.

No active spots.

I think that I'm going to have to make some changes to my shaving routine. I've been very gentle with my shaving, which has proven to be the best for my skin. However, I don't think that I have been letting it get wet and soft enough before shaving and have been getting little shaving-related spots--three in the past week. That's way too much. I'm going to let the lather sit for a while to soften my beard and see how it works out.

I had a fashion editorial shoot yesterday for Ion Magazine and they wanted a raw and natural look so they didn't have hair and make-up people. Just a little concealer that I had put on at home between my shaving boo-boos and the glossy pages. I hope that the photographer is adept with Photoshop.
