I buy 10 kg (22 lbs) for 10 CDN dollars (8 USD) from my natural products store. Try to look for natural product stores in your cities, I'm sure they can order some. This way you won't have to pay the shipping.
Which Canadian store did you go to? I live in B.C. and have no idea where I can to get cheap Sea Salt.
It's called Nature 2000 but it's in Montreal. A little far from you.
Try to google for natural product stores in your area or use the Yellow pages. Then, call them and ask for coarse sea salt (not the one you ingest and not the fine one). You might specify it's for the bath and that you want it bulk. It should be pretty cheap.
I don't have face face acne but I am able to submerge myself and let only the nose out in order to breath ( I might have been a whale in a past life ).
I guess you can try a simpler method, like putting only your face in sea salted water but you'd have to find a way to breath.

snorkles?
after checking out the link in that last post, i googled "sea salt acne" (without the parentheses) and found that the top few sources all were for Dead Sea Salt. apparently Dead Sea salt is better for you than normal sea salt because of its various chemicals and minerals such as sulfur. interesting..
I know that Accutane has a big list of side effects (im taking it). But why would you rather spend years in agonizing pain instead of enjoying your life. I am on it right now, i need about 2-3 more months depending on what my dermatologist says. I will try your soaking ive done it before, but all my scapes rip off in the water.

i use dead sea salt. yay thank god it works even BETTER
I'm not sure Dead Sea salt is better. I've never tried it but I don't understand why it's so expensive. The usual sea salt I use works well and it's much cheaper.
Mask, I tried Accutane as well - for 7 months - but the acne came back.
Randomusr, you have to put some lotion creams if you're burnt. I don't know ones, tho. Try to look on Google or ask people in beauty forums.
To clarify my results:
Moderate/Severe......80% visual improvement and 90% improvement in texture.
Yes, many blemishes I have had are completely gone..... active ones, red marks, hard scars, and slightly depressed ones. I am not completely clear....I still have redmarks and a handful of recently healed blemishes. Overall it is an amazing improvement.
RBS - I have mainly whiteheads and blackheads on my face - have been trying to go more natural. I was doing jojoba and neem oil every night using cetaphil cleanser. I decided about a week and 1/2 ago to substitute natural seal salt instead of cetaphil. Basically, I put about 2 tablespoons of natural sea salt in a bowl with hot water, let dissolve and then apply it with a warm wash cloth all over my face (I do not rub, just press it on). I've noticed that I have ALOT of bumps on my face (more whiteheads - some of which haven't come to a head yet) then I did before - I guess it has gotten slightly better - but I still have alot more than when I started. Did you notice this too - will the sea salt eventually take them away, is it just a matter of the intial cleansing process - please advise as this is very discouraging but I want to try to establish a regime that will work for the long term. Thanks
So I finally got my sea salt and put 36 oz of it in my bathtub and soaked for a good 45 minutes. Before I got in the tub my face had about 4 big cystlike pimples deep underneath the skin and my back is even worse. I got out of the bathtub and my face literally cleared about 50%. I didn't see any insane results on my back but I am sure they will come with time. Do you think it would be safe or better to double the amount of salt I use to like 70 oz or is that too much? I'd imagine the more the better, right?

i'd imagine too much salt could be bad for your skin.. but then again, im no expert. that's amazing that you actually had that good of results in only one bath, i wonder if that's a sign of improvement or if its just luck?
ExModel, interesting story. How well did your back clear after usong sea salt?
Does this also mean that you have to use it continously?
I'd be interested in hearing what your GF has to say about sea salt and what kind of exctractions she performed.
My back, which was classified as "severe", was covered with cystic acne. Basically, not a square inch of it was clean. I had scars, large red marks, huge bumps, and there honestly wasn't a place on my back I could scratch or touch without litterally getting a bunch of gross puss or blood on my fingers.
After doing the Sea Salt for a month, the bumps were gone, the small hard leftover bits were gone, the redness was gone, and even the scars tightened up so they weren't as visible.
A small grain of sand or something like a sesame seed, was pulled out of every single one of my cysts and pimples. They would just come to the surface and pop out by themselves pretty much. Just some gentle pressure was usually enough to get them to come right out.
Because my situation was very bad, I still had some visible marks. But nothing more than someone who had very mild back pimples. This was mainly because I have been a picker and scratcher since they started.
I found you do have to keep up a maintenance routine with the sea salt. Because the condition will return. You won't have to do it every single day. But once or twice a week for a while, tapering off from there. You can always get back onto the salt baths if you notice a breakout coming.
I asked my GF to email me some info she has on the sea salt methods used in skin care. She didn't send me the info, but sent me a "formula" for a really good extraction bath. The recipe is on my computer at home and I will post it later. She had great success with it, and has shared it with alot of her friends who also have had great success with it.
***EDIT***
Ok I am now at home and editing this post instead of creating a new one....
Here is that "Formula" I spoke of.
Bath Soak to Remove Toxins
3/4 cup sea salt
1 cup table salt
1 cup baking soda
4 tbsp cream of tartar
8oz. hydrogen peroxide
-dissolve in bath while water is running, soak in bath for at least 30 minutes.
From what she has told me... afterwards you will really notice gunk coming out of your skin. So this soak once a week or as needed for the first while to really clear things up.
Be carefull when using a scrub brush or anything because this may make your skin sort of soft and easily irritated.
I will be doing this soak starting this weekend and I'll post my progress. Hopefully with pictures.
Just in case some of you missed it. Thanks to ExModel for the info.
Hi y'all, I'm new here...
I'm 18 and have been struggling with stubborn mild/moderate acne on my back on and off for about four years. With this being my first year at college, it has gotten substantially worse. I don't get it on my face that much, or anywhere else besides my back, which really bothers me because I would loooove to wear the clothes I want and be confident, but this is holding me back. Not only that, but being intimate with my boyfriend of two years is always a very big problem (for me anyways) because of how self-conscious I am. I've been to the dermatologist and they've prescribed me many topicals and antibiotics. As of right now I'm on duac and have been for about a year, and I've been taking the birth control pill ortho tricyclen lo for about two months...none of this has really done any good or bad for my acne though.
So, in a fit of frustration (and because summer is around the corner) I typed "back acne" into google the other day and this site came up. And this whole sea salt thing really appealed to me. I've been re-reading this forum over and over for a few days and I've decided to try it. Since my mom is very understanding of my problem, she was willing to buy it for me since I am away at school at the moment. She ordered online the really expensive bokek dead sea salt (the 55 lb. bag) from www.saltworks.us, so I'm hoping it works wonders like it says it does! I won't be coming home from school until this friday, so that will be my first time to try it...but I will keep posting my progress, if I get any (I'm very skeptical of everything - but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised with this!!)
If those of you who have had success with this could keep posting your progress and how long it took you to get there I would greatly appreciate it and it will keep me motivated!! Thank you all very much and sorry for such a long post...
I used it in my bath, but I found that wasn't strong enough. I let very salty water dry on my skin and sleep with it at night. It stings a tad when it is drying, but then it is comfortable.
Thanks for the reply...
So you just suggest that I take the 30 minute bath with the (4 cups?) sea salt...and instead of taking a quick shower after that...just let it dry on my skin...and do you just wear a loose tshirt to bed? also...how long have you been using this method and how were your results? thanks again

I stopped the bath thing because the water wasn't salty enough and I didn't want to waste so much salt. I just make a very salty water solution and apply it to my skin (using a block of mineral salts). I then allow it to dry and just sleep with it all night. I experimented with washing off the salt mask after it dries, but the effects just weren't as strong.
I've read of people washing with salt, making a salt toner (like I did) or soaking in salt. I guess they all work, but the longer the salt stays on your skin and the more concentrated the solution, the stronger the results will be.
