Well im on my third day of the Salt baths. Not sure yet weather its working...
Ive taken a few shots of my back where the main problem is and ill take some more in a few days...see if there have been any results.
It certainly is drying my skin, my feet itch like crazy after i get out because they are so pruned up and dry. Lets hope it kills bacteria better than soap did because soap certainly didnt work for the past 4 years.
Summer is coming up soon and DAMN IT i want to enjoy it with everyone else!
Nobody has EVER seen me with my shirt off past the age of 12. Im now 18. Thats pretty sad to be honest... that im that embarrassed about it. Its certainly not the worst out there. Some shots on this forum are painful just to look at.
I have epsom salts at my house, so I think I will try that with bathes once a day, and I can do the spray bottle method with sea salt because that will use less of it than a bath everyday.
I am going to do this method every day for two weeks and see how it goes because I have homecoming and hopefully this will work!!!
Yes salt is a brilliant help for acne!
To answer some of the questions raised:
No, any salt will not do. Sea salt has important minerals in it which are absorbed by the skin and help it to heal. Everyone with acne should invest in a big bag of Epsom salts (basically just magnesium) and a big bag of dead sea salt (a huge amount of minerals in...).
In the uk you can order dead sea salt in big quantities (so it is cheaper) from westlab. Just google "dead sea salt uk".
Take a bath (at least) a couple of times a week with say 2 cups of dead sea salts or 2 cups of epsom salts, or try mixing 1 cup of epsom salts and 1 cup of dead sea salt. Mix and match as you please... This will increase your general health and start to help your acne reduce - even cystic acne. Don't put anything else in the bath; no extra oils! and rinse your face lots with your hands.
The best step you can take to reducing your face acne in addition to this is ditch all the chemical face washes. in the morning wash with a glycerine soap with sulphur in it (harrogate spa for example makes such a soap), lather it up on your face and put some on a flannel and *gently* exfoliate in small circles no more than once over any area.
Then at night, wash hands, 1/4 fill a hand basin with warm water and mix in 1/2 tablespoon of epsom salts till they are disolved. Then rinse your face with the salty water at least 20 times making sure the extra oily parts have been rinsed. Pat dry gently and go to bed.
The magnesium soaks up your excess oil without drying your skin; your skin will feel lovely in no time and all the redness from harsh cleansers will disapear in a matter of days.
You will notice a huge difference straight away doing this, though as always when you stop using harsh chemicals there will be a bit of readjustment from your skin for a little while, so don't worry about that. Stick with it, you will be really pleased!
Ditch everything else that you normally put on your face too! Chances are if you have acne you don't actually need moisturisers if you aren't using chemicals that strip your face of all its natural oils and friendly bacteria. Once you ditch your facewash the dryness will stop. If you really do still get dry patches just put a dab of moisturiser on the dry patches not anywhere else. If you are exfoliating every morning with the sulphur soap you shouldn't be getting any dry patches in normal weather though.
If you have had acne for a long time it may also be worth (in addition to this cleaning routine) taking a good quality vitamin B complex plus an extra B5 supplement (if you take the B5 - panothenic acid - supplement you *must* take the B complex aswell otherwise it leaches other B vitamins from you). And, particualry if you also have a history of depression or pms you may also want to try a calcium, magnesium and vitamin D mixed vitamin supplement.
Make sure you get good quality supplements; if they aren't you will just pee them out.
Of course it is also good to take vitamin C, zinc, and ultra refined fish oils.
This has really worked for me, and I have had a mixture of normal and cystic acne for 15 years. Try it and see! Give it one month and my bet is it will change your life! I hope it does! Good luck!
That dead sea salt is very expensive, 2.25 per kilo. The regular unrefined sea salt from wholesalers goes at around 40 pence per kilo.
I still cant find anywhere that sells simple unrefined sea salt in sizes greater than 2 kilos to the general public.
go to SALTWORKS.US or SALTLAMP.CA here you will find all your BULK salt needs cheap (=
I have tried everything under the sun to cure my acne including accutane which is poison by the way ,I would never go on tan again it has way too many dangerous side effects and it didn't even get rid of my acne , anyways I take fish oil daily CARLSON'S fish oil (vitamin A and D free ) it comes in 500 ml bottle or 200ml , liquid not capsule either in lemon or orange flavor , this is great for acne since fish oil is a natural anti-inflammatory , it's also really good for you , along with that I take a bath once a week with 4 cups of Dead Sea salt , it works the best , regular Sea salt will work too it's cheaper , Himalayan salt works great too , I would rate it second best anyways this has cured my acne totally , at first I took a bath 4 times a week for about 2 months then 2 times a week for 1 month and now once per week this has cured my acne , it really is the miracle cure for ACNE and has NO SIDE EFFECTS other than becoming thirsty just make sure you drink plenty of water before and after you take a bath and never too hot , lukewarm at best ok , I never tried the salt spray bottle method but a lot of people say it works . I would recommend starting with Sea Salt since it is the cheapest if that doesn't work well then upgrade to Himalayan salt , and for a guaranteed cure use Dead Sea salt , remember it's all about the mineral content . If you live near the ocean then you have a cure right in front of you (=

I have been using Dead Sea Salt for 6 weeks now and sadly it is not the cure I had hoped for as it seems to have been for several people here.
Infact it seems to have had almost no effect at all, my body acne is the same as usual, even quite bad the last week with some big spots on my shoulders and chest.
The first week I had 5 baths then for the following 5 weeks I have had a salt bath every 2 days, getting the water as hot as is comfortable and using between 1-1.5 kilos of salt in each.
Another avenue of treatment that has been a big letdown :/. Guess im still on the road to the dreaded roaccutane.

in my experience hot water isnt good for acne. it seems to irritate my skin a bit more. i always wash with cold water as it will not inflame acne further
sorry to hear sea salt hasnt worked , im trying t from next week. the past two days ive gone to the beach (north east england) and washed my face with seawater which is ice cold. it seems to have helped my skin so far but at the same time its too early to tell after a day
i ordered some dead sea salt to arrive on tuesday so il let everyone know how it goes.
I've started using sea salt about a week ago and I'm already starting to see a difference. My face is mostly acne-free with a few pimples here and there but my back is worse. I have about 5-6 active pimples at any point and plenty of red marks/scars. After about a week of bathing in sea salt, every other day for 30 minutes at a time, I've noticed the redness is slowly disappearing and my skin feels smooth. I now wash my face with it too, once in the morning and at night. I hope this continues.
Hello everyone, I've never posted here before, but just thought I'd mention what happened to me.
About 8 months ago I was in cambodia and for the first time in my life was in constant humid/hot conditions 24/7 (no aircon) was there for about 2 months and during that time I think I caught a skin infection of some kind. At any rate the infection cleared up after about a week of it's own accord, but my skin suddenly broke out in blackheads/whiteheads. Especially on my chest, back, forehead. Never really had them there before. If I squeezed any of them they would immediately swell up and go angry red, they would also do this of their own accord.
I tried scrubbing every day, used anti-bacterial soap, tried the head and shoulders cure. Nothing worked.
I thought maybe it was the hot weather and my skin just wasn't used to it, so when I got home I expected it would clear up itself. Nope, it got a bit better then worse, and would oscillate between the two.
Now about a month ago I had a bath for the first time in years (I'm a shower man) and while in the bath I wondered if sea water might do the trick. So I went down to the local pharmacy and bought that radox bath salts stuff, poured a couple of handfuls in and had a soak, used the entire packet (about four baths) and noticed that actually my skin was noticably better.
Went back to the pharmacy and bought some sea salt. Big crystals of the stuff, put two handfulls in and after two baths, it's all gone from my chest, and mostly gone from my back. There is the odd bit here or there but probably no more than there was before I had the problem, my skin is probably the best it's been in years.
I can't and won't claim this will work for everyone, I guess different people have different causes but it's worked for me and I thought I'd mention it so anyone else who has symptoms similar to me can give it a go.
Cheers.
it seems like evryone here has had positive results w/ this idea so i think ill give it a shot- what have i got to lose right? Ive been searching the website for the past few days and it seems like this idea has some of the most positive results.
do you think there would be a significant change in results if i only rubbed the sea salt on my back instead of soaking? just wonderin thanks!
There are two benefits to SOAKING in seal salt water.
1. By soaking in sea salt water, you are creating an osmosis environment where water from cells beneath your outer skin layer travels up to the top. This causes the upper skin layer to become more hydrated, and you to become more thirsty (you're losing water from within).
2. Salt water with the salinity of the sea is deadly to bacteria, but it takes time, and osmosis, for tiny molecules in the salt water to seep down into your skin's pore and do their work.
You won't get these benefits if you just spray on the water because there's little or no environment for osmosis to occurr. BUT do becareful to drink plenty of water before and after you soak to prevent too much water loss.
So I have to say that I used sea salt last night on my face. It worked really well! It's not miracle or anything but my face definitely looks about 50% better, more or less I had quite a few really bad cystic ones and like 7 billion little ones and most of them are fading or gone. The big ones are SOOOO much smaller and there were a few that I could feel forming yesterday that didn't show up at all. I put something like 1/4 cup of salt (I didn't really measure) into boiling water. I put a washcloth in the pan and waited for it to cool. Then I laid the washcloth over my face for 20 minutes. I kept rewetting the washcloth as needed. I also cut a hole in the middle of the washcloth so I could breath, lol. But today my face looks a lot better and I don't think I even need any lotion this morning! My face feels dry but not dried out. I will post more results as time goes on
I'm gonna try it out lol so sick of my fuckin terrible severe bacne had it for about 5 years (gotten far worse than it should be due to non stop pickin and scratching) and its just not showin any signs of going away with age.. I don't really get it on my face which I am very thankful for but being too ashamed to take off my shirt or go swimming other than by myself is just killin me.
Gonna take some before and after pics

Nasty shit haha
Errm.. Sorry if I seem to be bumping up a thread that hasn't had posts for two months, but if anyone is still lurking this thread, I just want to ask.. Would this method work if I just put used a cottonball, soaked it in salt water (store bought sea salt dissolved in hot water) and spread it all across my face and leave it to dry?

My question is still waiting to be answered.
