I've been attempting this for five days now and no luck so far. I use head and shoulders as a shampoo anyway, but never applied to my back.
first day i left it on dry skin for ten mins before washing off but that night developed a rash. Since then i've been lathering it in my hands, applying it in the shower, and washing off lile a regular body wash
Never posted on this forum before but I was lurking this thread a few weeks ago when I was feeling really depressed about my bacne. I've had it since I was about 14 ish and its gone through phases of being mild to moderate but always left behind scars. Since being on birth control my face is completely clear but my back still breaks out. I've used the neutrogena body acne scrub and while it seemed to help sometimes, it definitely didnt stop it all together. I would say I would get a few new pimples every week, and since I've started using head and shoulders last month I've maybe gotten one pimple that just stayed red and went away. I don't want to jinx it bc i went through a period of a month or two last year where my back was clear but as of now I'm soooo happy and I just had to share bc I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on such a quick fix. I'll keep yall updated if anything changes. I'm going to get a perfection peel to clear up the marks that were left behind so hopefully that helps.
Hi everyone.
Seems like it's been a while since this thread was updated, so I'm adding my take.
Short version: Head and Shoulders Classic Clean has almost completely healed my Bacne.
Long version: I'm 32, male with sensitive pale skin. Also a very active gym-goer and fitness instructor so I sweat and shower more than the average person. I was shaving my shoulders once/week for about a year with no issues. Eventually, folliculitis took hold and spread to my upper back/mid-back. Keep in mind I have NEVER used a razor or trimmer on any part of my back. After a few months of continuing this behavior (dumb, I know), I had full blown bacne again just like when I was a teenager.
For months, I sought treatment. Oral meds, topical gels, creams, special soaps, Hibiclens, diet changes, you name it. And while the medication (Bactrim) gave me some positive results, new spots kept forming. Fast forward 6 months, and I was losing my patience. Maybe I'd just have to live this way until my body changed its mind: embarrassed to be shirtless, no more tanktops ever, never certain of the cause, etc.
One week ago, I began using H&S Classic Clean during my showers. Apply and lather for one minute, rinse, and then use my standard Dove body wash (I use my hands; no washcloth or lufa). In this short time, four large pimples and the surrounding smaller ones have faded and are barely noticeable. At night, I am still using a topical called Aktipak for spot treatment. My back is 75% clear.
Give this a shot. After months of co-pays, prescriptions, and unending frustration, who would've thought that a shampoo (and zinc) was the answer.
Thank you to the original poster for sharing this information!
