Differin breakout

Hi! I used differin every night for about 13 weeks. While using it, I also washed my face with cerave twice a day. My skin wasn't that bad before differin; I just had mild acne. While using differin, my breakouts started getting worse and worse. I started getting little spots on my forehead, which I never had before. I broke out really bad above the lip and on the chin, both places I had mild acne before. However, the breakouts never subsided. They just kept getting worse. I got cystic pimples on my forehead and chin that would never come to a head. I finally quit using differin. Was this reaction abnormal? Any advice on how to get my skin to calm down again? Should I start using the differin again or ditch it for good? I have combination, acne prone skin with very large pores.

Since quitting differin, I have just been using the cerave twice a day and a tea tree oil combo at night.

People have different reactions to differin, but from my personal experience, my acne got progressively worse after starting differing, similar to yours. I dont know if differin was directly the cause of it, or if I just had more hormonal changes that were a trigger.

Currently Im using differin .1%, topical clindamycin, and a low daily dose of minocycline. Its been two weeks since I started the mino but Ive been on differin for a total of about 5 months. My breakouts dont seem as bad, but I still have a ton of red marks left over, mostly on my cheeks. Currently considering bumping up to .3% differin to see if it helps get rid of the marks and some of the scars I have.

I see you wrote this last year (rough that nobody has responded yet lol) but had your acne cleared up at all? If so what do you think helped the most?
