Baby Aspirin Cured My Cystic Acne? (oral; not a mask)

Hi everyone,

I've had progressively worse hormonal, cystic acne for the past 10 years. I'd tried everything and had to stop BCP and Rx meds due to side effects. I hardly ever take pills like aspirin, but this summer the cystic nodules had become so plentiful and painful that I tried baby aspirin for a couple days to see if it would reduce the pain and inflammation.

The result was almost immediate. The existing cysts calmed down, so I continued taking aspirin, and by the end of the week, the cysts had subsided. I've taken 1-2 baby aspirins per day since then, and my acne is almost completely gone. I haven't seen my skin look this good in years.

I was surprised that I couldn't find other stories online about this happening to other people. I see plenty of studies supporting the connection between aspirin and estrogen, which also affected me. My cycle shortened from 28 to 22 days, and I had ovulation bleeding for the first time in my life. I have lean PCOS, which is most likely responsible for the acne, so I wonder if the aspirin is somehow mediating the PCOS.

I would love to hear if any of you have had similar experiences with oral aspirin or have heard anything about it. I see plenty of stuff online about aspirin-masks, and I'm not really interested in that particular topic. I'm not necessarily recommending this regimen or planning on continuing it myself long-term. Just curious on the scientific explanation behind it, if any.

Thanks!

What kind of cysts do you get? Are they underground or do they usually come to a head?

Very interesting.

Hi, thanks for the info. I'm also planning to take aspirin. And also are you using any other treatment?

I actually just got the baby aspirin (low dose 81 mg). I've never actually taken aspirin in my life before so a little hesitant as some people react to it.

I have cysts on my neck that won't go away. I want them gone asap.

I'm not sure what day it is, but oh my, I believe the aspirin is a life saver.I also think I may have PCOS and thyroid issues. I will count how many days it's been and post again.

I'm also on a low dose antibiotic once a day (100 mg) but no improvement until I started to take the aspirin. I think it was day 4 or 5 of the antibiotic when I started the aspirin.

Most of my acne is caused by food which I believe has a hormonal cause.

I had a breakout on my neck. Huge itchy red cysts. The acne started shrinking since I've been taking the aspirin and is almost gone. I missed a day and I noticed a cyst that was about to go away grew a bit bigger. Took an aspirin and shrunk back down.

I don't want the cysts to ever come to a head bc it will def scar. I have never found anything that made the cysts shrink to nothing.

I've also been applying honey at night.

Try it!!

81mg aspirin is what I'm taking.

By the way, I've tried topical aspirin before, never saw a difference.

I just started to take 162 mg of aspirin. It helps so much in reducing spots and never making them come to a head.

I stopped taking antibiotic a couple days ago. I will update the thread again soon.

Hi annaw. I wanted to see how is the daily aspirin working for you. I have the same problem and I am also in NC. I never had acne as a teenager. Now I am in my mid 30's and I am getting cystic acne around chin. I have done so much research. Tried vitexx and it gave me very bad symptoms, I have been taking supplements to clean my liver and putting bioidentical progesterone crea. I am interested to see how the aspirin has worked for you, I will definitely give it a try. I did a hormone test back in sept and it came back that I am estrogen dominant. Thanks
