Here is the back story- I am currently an 18 year old female, I have had acne since I was 13 and I have never found a product that does me right. I have tried TONS of products too. I believe I started with clean and clear acne face washes then I swapped to the Neutrogena Rapid Clear acne cream wash and that did me okay for a while until I tried the Stress Free cream wash and that worked amazingly for a month and then another break out and I tried tons more washes until I finally tried proactive and that worked okay for me, I still got the occasional minor break out and then, after four months, I broke out like crazy and swapped back to stress free and it cleared up again with the occasional break out. This past year I started with the stress free and then broke out heavily again so I went to the biore gentle exfoliate wash which worked miracles for me for a few months and now I am back to another break out and I went back to stress free with no luck so I am nearly willing to try any suggestions because it's summer and I really just want clear skin. Oh and along with all the washes I have used a variety of treatments such as benzoyl peroxide, spot gels, face pads, toners, and salicylic acid mainly the neutrogena version.
My friend recently recommended Aveeno Clear Complexion, is it any good?
I also wouldnt say my face is super oily, it's rather neutral. I believe my acne is mainly hormonal and I do have rather sensitive skin because anything makes it turn red. Thank you to any suggestions!
I personally have found that my skin responds best to Konjac Sponges. They are awesome. You don't need to use a cleanser with one, the konjac sponge actually cleans your face for you while GENTLY exfoliating. You can get them on Amazon =) I got a bad case of eczema after using a regular face wash again(in addition to a bad breakout), and my lips starting cracking(angular cheilitis) because the soap was too harsh for my sensitive skin. Within a few days of switching to a Konjac Sponge my skin has healed a lot. I've come to the conclusion, that with my type of acne(inflammatory, and cystic) less is more in terms of skin-care.

hi I agree with Chloe about not using harsh stuff. I like cetaphil bar or Cetaphil antibacterial bar. To control the oil try a thin layer of milk of magnesia aspplied with a cotton ball, it absorbs oil and jeeps your face from being shiny, plus magnesium is good for the skin.

i liked this product from Dr hauschka it was natural oils and you kind of rolled it on.
Hi,
I came lurking here to find some tips on cleansers... Thanks everyone...
I definitely second what Chloe123 said: use a very gentle cleanser that doesn't contain acne treatment or sulfates.
I have used acne.org cleanser, cetaphil oil control foam, and cetaphil daily facial cleanser, all were too drying. Other than that they were great. If your skin is not as dry as the sahara desert, then they might work. Still on the prowl for a moisturizing facial cleanser that doesn't leave behind an oily film... the saga continues...

hey I'm just going to add, I tried using oatmeal with water as a cleanser at night and I'm liking it a lot! Aveeno has oatmeal as an ingredient. I saw it suggested on hete from another girl...you can watch it on this lunk bubzbeauty oatmeal mask.

im sorry I can't recall the users name but I'm glad she posted it
Thanks for the suggestion snarkygirl, I heartily approve of your avatar photo, that is a beautiful cat
Unfortunately I cannot use aveeno (or any other brand) oat skin products, they make me break out in hives. I have a strong feeling-- based on my online research-- that this is because most oats are not certified gluten free, which I have a severe reaction to. Curse you, immune system. I might try a homemade thing with some certified gluten free oats.
But good news: I just ran out and bought a new facewash, CeraVe hydrating cleanser. It looks super mild and hydrating. It smells like nothing (always a good sign). I will try it tomorrow and see what happens!
I would suggest Cetaphil gentle cleanser or Cetaphil derma control. The gentle cleanser is SUPER gentle (from the name obvi) so that might not work if it's all you're using. But the derma control foams and has a bit of salicylic acid in it and is made for minor but stubborn acne.

oh yeah some people are really sensitive to gluten! I have a crappy immune system too. Hope CereVe works well for you.
hmm I really like SIBU products with sea buckthorn oil. Have you heard of it? It has never irritated me or broken me out...I think its organic.
thanks, this kitty looks exactly like mine

I like the smell of old books, and my cat smells way nicer than my dog. Lol.
