I have been researching dry skin brushing for a long time. Mostly because I was interested in its touted benefits for cellulite. But at Whole Foods the other day, I saw a mini dry skin brush made especially for faces with extra gentle bristles. It's made by 'Bass'. It was only $5 so I went for it. Normally I exfoliate with wet skin and some kind of crystal (currently epsom salts), and I've never tried any method of dry exfoliation.
This particular brush has soft, nylon bristles. Even though I've read that it's preferable to use natural bristles, I've also read on many amazon reviews of natural bristle brushes that they are just by nature more corse, and also can start to shed their bristles over time. I like the fact that the nylon bristles are uniformly soft and non porous (therefore easier to clean).
Well, I tried it last night for the first time and was BLOWN AWAY. My acne is pretty clear at this point, but I still have quite a few scars and moderate dry patches/flaking/redness/uneven skin tone--plus some blackheads on my nose and chin.
After washing off my makeup with sulfur soap and drying off. I GENTLY rubbed the brush around my whole face and neck for about ten minutes. I was literally seeing little puffs of dry skin buff right off my face. I would feel a part of my face that felt quite rough, and then buff it for a few seconds and feel it again and it felt like someone else's face. When I was done I kept touching my whole face, utterly astonished. It was the softest skin I'd ever felt! It felt completely even and butter soft and was a lovely healthy shade of pink that faded after about 15 minutes. I hadn't used any moisturizer but after skin brushing, it was like, creme de la mer soft.
This morning I woke up and my hyper-pigmentation had improved by 35-40%. The dry skin that's been around my nose and chin for as long as I can remember was delightfully not present. My skin is still baby-soft.
I'm officially sold on dry exfoliating over wet exfoliation. What I really like about it is that when your skin is wet, it's hard to tell if you're getting everything off, but with dry skin brushing, you can see exactly what you've exfoliated and which areas you need to concentrate on. Also, wet exfoliating has always dried out my skin big time. I've NEVER been able to do it before without heavy moisturizing afterwards.
I'm gonna stick with this for awhile instead of wet exfoliation and see if I continue to see results. If my face keeps loving it as much as it did last night, I might be able to meet my goal of makeup-free by Thanksgiving
Hello, I have tried dry brushing to get rid of cellulite, but sadly I was not able to see any effect. After dry brushing I have tried many anti cellulite creams which again made me disappointed. After reading this article I started massaging as massage helps in improving the blood circulation and increase the blood supply to tissues which helped me in reducing cellulite. Massage also made my skin smother and shiner.
