I have only been applying 10 percent benzyl peroxide for about a month now, and I am wanting to get off of it. But I have been reading online stories of people who stop BP and end up breaking out like crazy; however, many of these people have been using BP for over a year.
Do you think that since I have been only using it for about a month, and did not have severe acne before using it, I will break out super badly if I quit cold turkey?
Or would it be better to use a 2.5 percent benzyl peroxide face wash like every other day for a few weeks, and then stop all together?
I used 2.5% for mild acne for just over a month and quit cold turkey as I thought I was clear, but then I broke out a bit but I feel like my hormones contributed towards that a bit, so I started again but using it less often and eventually stopped. I have broken out again as it only works to fight current breakouts and is not beneficial as a long term treatment, but it is currently getting better so I think there is an initial breakout before it heals itself again after stopping. So dont be silly like me and assume because you're clear that you have to stop straight away, I'd use it gradually less and perhaps move down to 2.5% while you're at it before eventually stopping. Also 2.5% is apparently all that is needed especially for what I'm assuming is your mild acne, anything stronger apparently doesn't have much more effect. Hope this helps!!!
