I would like to know

I have been using Benzoyl peroxide for over a year on and off and I have experienced my hair colour to have become a lot lighter when using the product, the product has not come in contact with my hair as its being applied around my mouth and jaw line.

Question: Can this product bleach the hair on your head without contact by being absorbed through your body and skin in another area?

Please share your experience

No, that's not really how BP works. BP must come directly into contact with something to bleach it. Even if BP does come into contact with your hair (maybe by touching it on accident or transferring from your skin while sleeping), it's very unlikely to bleach your hair. Unless your hair is very fine or damaged, the BP is not capable of penetrating to cuticle of your hair deeply enough to cause bleaching.

Hydrogen peroxide (the fizzy liquid you use to clean wounds) can bleach hair if it had direct contact, but you shouldn't be using that to treat acne. It doesn't work the same way as Benzyl Peroxide. Perhaps you are spending more time in the sun?

Hello Quinn,

If your towel or bed sheets does come in contact with your skin, chances are the your hair could also get bleached if you towel your hair down or sleep while the Benzoyl Peroxide has not yet been fully absorbed by your skin. To avoid this from happening, you may apply The Regimen an hour or two before sleeping or do not use the same towel for your skin and for drying your hair.

Yeah, I think I'm with Izzy on this one, Meg. We had to give my son a separate face towel to use just to dry his face after a shower as the residue from the BP was bleaching his regular towel! So I don't think it takes much.

Oh yeah- BO can definitely bleach clothing and towel fabric and such, I just don't know if Bp can penetrate human hair follicles deeply enough to cause noticeable bleaching. Then again, I'm no expert! In any case, I agree with Izzy about letting it fully absorb and dry to avoid unwanted bleaching in General.
