Hey guys, I am so grateful that there is a place like this where I can go to get some type of relief. I have always had blemishes here and there and when I was 23 had a three month long outbreak that nearly killed me. I was depressed, loosing weight and not leaving my house. Now at 26 I went for three years with fairly clear skin. YAZ and Sulfur antibiotics helped to clear me up pretty quickly. After about a year some smaller breakouts would occur so I stopped with the antibiotics and birth control and surprisingly didn't have much of a breakout from that. In the last three months I moved to a new state, got a new job and felt that stress, changing my face wash and hormones contributed to this now 2 month long outbreak, where I am at this point is I have full blown acne. I'm talking about forehead acne, cystic acne all over my chin, and on both sides above my mouth where a mustache would go. It's pretty humiliating and to be honest guys, looks really bad My question is, I'm pretty sure my acne is hormonal, last time I had the outbreak it was after a cyst on my ovary ruptured and once I got on YAZ it went away. I had a pack of MonoNessa or Ortho Cyclin and started taking it about 4 days ago. In the last four days I have gone from bad to worse and want to hear if anyone else had this experience and if it is just an initial breakout or if I need to switch to YAZ. I have an appt. in a week to get on birth control but fear it is just going to keep getting worse. I would also love to hear some encouragement at this point because I am pretty down and depressed and can't seem to keep weight on because I am so sick with anxiety. Thank you so much for anyone who reads this and I would love any responses.
I can relate somewhat to your story. I had clear skin for 18 years but that all changed when I started my career and moved states. I broke out due to all the stress and changes that were occurring in my life. It took me some time to learn to deal with all of it but I found ways. To deal with anxiety, stress, bad feelings I go for a jog or run for 30 minutes to an hour. It's a way to release some of that negative energy and is also really beneficial for your overall health and body. Afterwards I'm usually really hungry so I have a reason to eat a big meal.
I exercise daily but a good routine would be every other day or 3-4 times a week.
I don't know too much about the medication and products you mentioned but I would go back to what gave you clear skin before. Unless you stopped using those products for a specific reason.
I hope things start getting better for you. Just remember that there are people on here who want to help and are there to support you!
Well I went off YAZ for a couple reasons, I lost my health insurance and they switched me to the generic and my skin wasn't clear anymore, it wasn't horrible but it wasn't clear like it once was. To be honest I do not remember exactly why I went off of YAZ and really wish I hadn't but I was on sulphamethoxazole and felt like that was done working because I was breaking out again. Luckily though I didn't have too bad of a breakout after going off of those so I felt like I needed to not worry about it and carry on, which worked for about two years with on and off small breakouts. Do you guys think I should stick it out on MonoNessa (which can someone please help me is that the same as Ortho Cyclen or not?) or when I go to the OB-GYN next week ask for YAZ? Has ANYONE had a positive experience with MonoNessa, so far I can't find any information on this particular birth control. Thanks so much you guys ... it really means a lot to hear back so quickly!
Hey guys, I could really use some help here, so if anyone has advice or tips or just information I would really appreciate it. So (in addition to my long story above) I started MonoNessa (generic orthocylen) about 9 days ago and initially broke out like crazy (See above) for the first week. Things kind of got better this week, redness started to go away and just started to look slightly better and then bam, woke up this morning with several new small whitehead. However these whiteheads were these black bumps under the skin for about two months prior so I've kind of been expecting them. It looks pretty bad, but I'm still kind of assuming it's the initial breakout. What do you guys think? I don't really have any other new ones, just a lot of ones I've kind of been waiting for. It just looks so bad and I'm scared so I just need some advice. I know it takes about a month for hormones to kind of regulate so I'm going to be patient. Also I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday with just a physician not a derm, the derms here are scheduled 4-5 months out..... and was hoping he could prescribe me an antibiotic like Bactrim because it helped me about 4 years ago. Any advice on a great antibiotic? I've been reading a lot on Spiro but don't think my doctor will prescribe that. Any help is appreciated thanks guys!
