Hi all

Looking for some advice.

I started using the Clinique 3 step anti blemish solutions almost 4 months ago and it did what I was told it would do to start with.

The lady at the Clinique counter told me that it would get worse over the first few weeks but I should then start to notice my skin getting better.

My skin did get worse but after a few weeks I noticed that it felt better and also that the spots I had under the skin had almost all cleared up. This lasted for about a week, a week and a half before my skin started to break out 10 times worse than it ever had done before.

I used to have 4 or 5 large spots at the one time but my whole face is covered in spots now. They start off as small red bumps and turn into huge sore spots. At the moment I have at least 20 spots all over my face.

Anyways I was thinking about switching to Proactiv and was wondering if anyone had used both of these products and would be able to advise which one was best.

i have tried both i even used the Clinique make up .. i hate Clinique their system did not work and made my skin worst .. and when i tried to change make up and gaved theirs a try it broke my out more than cheap make up u i can buy at a drug store . now i just keep using my estee lauder make up . i tried proactive and it didn't work for me.. but it did not make my skin go crazy like Clinique but it did not cure my acne .. i think u should try proactive because it might work for u .. you never know .. the thing with acne is that u always have to keep on trying new things and never giving up hope to find what works 4 u ..

Yeah I've also been using the make up. Went back to the Clinique counter when I felt that it wasn't working and was advised to use the anti blemish foundation as the foundation I was using wasn't oil free and this was stopping the products from working.

A month after using the anti blemish foundation I went back and told them it still wasn't any better and they said it must be something else that I was using or that I wasn't using the products correctly as it is guaranteed to work.

Have tried so many different things and have wasted so much money especially on the Clinique products. Just hoping that something will eventually work.

I tried Clinique when I was really young and hated their 3 steps system! The cleanser is in a bar soap, which is just messy and annoying, the toner burnt my skin, the moisturizer from memory is quite good though. I am not totally bagging out clinique, their spot treatment works really really well. They also used to sell an anti acne treatment spray for the body which was great but they took that off the market. I have never tried proactive but i don't like the idea of BP in all my products, i'd rather use it separately as a treatment.

ANYWAY LOL Again when I was a teen if I was too broke to buy fancy products (like shiseido pureness and dermalogica) I would settle for Neutrogena which is actually quite good for a cheap skincare, I have switched to using their 'sensitive' moisturizer now and I love it.

One skin care system I have been wanting to try is Mario Badescu. Any reviews??

In a way the proactiv is sort of similar to The Regimen where it uses Benzoyl Peroxide as the active ingredient to get rid of the acne. I think the Clinique uses Salacylic acid?? Not completely sure about that.

I am currently doing the regimen and it has gotten me clear. One of the products I do use from the Clinique 3 step thing is their moisturizer because it is the best I have ever tried without making my skin look like an oil slick.

I've never really stuck with a complete acne line before...I always mix and match to see what works best with my skin.

Both Clinique and Proactiv use salicylic acid, Proactiv also claims that it also has benzoyl peroxide.
Personally I've tried both, and thinking back to it I assume it was pure absent-mindedness caused by their marketing that made me use it, not common sence. At the same time overall I'm more positive about Clinique - at least I used to buy it for more than 1 time, while purchased Proactiv only once I now consider it as mistake. Of course we all are different and maybe for someone Proactiv works, but not for me, so I wouldn't recomment using it.
