I started using benzoyl peroxide 2 months ago recommended by my dermatologist.... which I thought was strange because my face has always been on the dry side and very sensitve. But I trusted her and decided to try it. Since I started using benzoyl peroxide my face has become really red and dehydrated looking and it looks horrible! My post acne marks I perviously had (which were fading) are now super red and bright. cry.gif Also now I've been getting these tiny red bumps all over my cheeks and under one of my eyes..maybe that has something to do with it too? allergic reaction maybe?

Also my acne is very mild and I just have alot of post inflammatory marks now. Should I just stop using the benzoyl peroxide and use salicylic acid instead?

I do use cerave for lotion on my face it seems to help alittle.

Thanks so much! smile.png

Yes. I would stop using BP and use salicylic acid. Redness and dryness should clear in a couple of days depending on severity. Are the tiny red bumps somewhat uniform and rash-like? Are they confined to the areas you apply BP to?

Are you using a 2.5% BP? Stronger ones like 5% or 10% can be very drying to your skin.

I been using 2.5% every other night and sometimes during the day for the occasional spot treatment.

Yup the red bumps are grouped together in areas. :/

If they are itchy clusters, I might consider something fungal.

If it's more of a uniform rash it's probably some sort of allergy.

Either way the first thing I would do would be to stop the BP and see if it gets better

Good luck!
