Have To Stop Bp For A Few Days. What Will Happen?

Hey guys. In a few weeks I'm going to get my first chemical peel treatment to get rid of some brown mark scars and discoloration on my face (derm recommended it). Great right? Well the only problem is that he told me that I have to stop using my regimen for THREE days before the peel. Scary stuff.

I have been using a benzoyl peroxide wash and cream regimen for about 6 months (prescribed by derm). Before it, my face wasn't terrible but I would have mild to moderate acne, consisting of at the most 5 regular sized pimples, and 1 or 2 deep bigger ones. The acne was ONLY on my cheeks. Nowadays, after 6 months of using bp on my cheeks, I only get 1 or 2 smaller pimples every so often.

I really REALLY want to get this peel for my face but I heard that if you stop using bp then your face will break out worse than before. Is this true? Do you think it's worth stopping it for a few days to get the peel, or is it just going to end up being counterproductive because of the potential new scars I could form? Also, if I did get any new pimples during those three days that I don't use benzoyl peroxide, would the chemical peel get rid of them?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm really scared that my face is going to break out because I have been recently getting pimples on my back.

Any help is appreciated guys. Thanks smile.png

Three days without BP is not going to cause a breakout. The chemical peel would definitely offset any pimples in the early stage. ]

Is it a 20% SA or 30% TCA peel? Will you use laser/light treatments after the peel?

Okay well that helps ease my nerves but I'm still a little scared. My derm assured me that usually people don't break out in the days recovering from the peel but he didn't mention the days before. It's been going so good for months and I don't want to ruin it.

Not sure what type of peel (I guess I should have asked) but my dermatologist told me that I will have to do a few peels to really see results. They offer laser treatments as well but they are SO expensive. Is it worth the money?
