This is my fifth week on the regimen and my skin improved a LOT but , my skin seemed to be fine when i don't wear any makeup but as soon as i put on foundation my skin looks sooo dry and flaky and peeling and gross and scaly, i looked like a lizard. i didn't have school so it was okay for the first 3 weeks but then last week i went out quite a bit and tried to wear makeup and it was TERRIBLE like fr its so hard to put makeup on.. and then i got fed up and i didnt use DK cleanser i just used oil, and then i put BP, and then i moisturized with oil. i did that for like a few days maybe like 5.. and my skin seems to be better, less flaky but I'm not sure if this is a good idea? i ordered a new kit with jojoba oil and AHA so hopefully they will help but do you think its okay to use oil as a cleanser instead of DK cleanser??

Dan's cleanser can be very drying, IMO. I would try using plain warm water as your cleanser, and then mix several drops of jojoba oil in with your moisturizer for extra softness. Maybe only use Dan's cleanser once a day or once every other day, or as often as your skin will tolerate without drying out.

For flake build-up, you can use jojoba oil as an occasional flake remover. In the shower, "cleanse" your face with a generous palmful of jojoba oil. Massage the oil gently around your skin, being careful not to rub or scrub. You'll notice that the flakes start to feel gritty like sand under your fingers. Then, soak a washcloth and very gently wipe the oil off your face, again don't rub or scrub. Rinse and pat dry. Do this as needed for the larger flakes. Dry, flaky skin is one of the biggest complaints at this stage so you're right on schedule! ;)

what about also switching foundation? if u are using a straight up foundation maybe switch to a TM for more hydration/lighter feel.

I tried the oil clenser only method just before dtarting bp it didnt work for me but in my mind it makes sence and i feel its a good road to consider on in acne journey soaps are harsh and stripping skin of the natural oils it produces u disrupt this proccess by stripping and artificially remoisturizing everyday until the natural circle goes wild and starts producing extra oils hence oilly skin or less getting you dry, sooo yeah i did this method for 2 months with haha sunflower oil cause i heard its 0% noncomedogenic abd there are sites prasing it as holy grail to be used on anything and everything it was gentle to take off makeup then washing just with water but it broke me out alot, was it the lack of soaps? Was it just the hormonal pronlem witch made this method fail for me ill never know some ppl say u need at leaste 6 months to let your skin get used to oil cleansing withiut freeakung out and breaking out i am reconsidering this method now while on bp hoping the bp would keep the acne under control and i can enjoy the benefits of oil clensing as i said in other posts around here i will take oils over products any day not sure if to keep using sunflower oil though sounds bit rudimental lol even if its 0% comedogenic less the coconut less then jojoba grapesead everything.. It just felt wrong to fill my little bootle from the cooking counter in the kitchen lol but yeah i done some craZy stuff during my acne struggle just hoping its all worth it in the end ,i think back ten years and remember growing up starting to buy cosmetics and introducing special facesoaps in my life coincides with the years i started getting acne , my husband some friends i have dont even own a facesoap they get an ocassional pimple or two but honestly stopping the addiction to facesoap was harder then quitting smoking for me i swear during thoose 2 months once every few days i just craved to feel my face squeeky clean that nice fealling u get after facesoap
