Hi everyone! I am just looking for some help. I have had awful acne since I was 12 and I am now 20. I have tried literally everything. I've have even been on 2 rounds of accutane and am still on birth control, however nothing has helped it. I am currently on my third week for the acne.org regimen and my skin looks worse. it is getting huge and swollen. It has even spread to my neck which I have never had before. I am following the steps religiously. My skin is also extremely dry and flakey, making my makeup look bad. I have noticed that washing with a little jojoba oil before the cleanser helps my dry skin and gets my makeup off better. It is also pure jojoba oil from the vitamin shop, not the regimens (But I have ordered the regimens and it is on its way). Could this be why I'm not getting anywhere? I just need some good advice on what to do. Everyone says their face looks better within two weeks but my is getting way worse. Please help! I appreciate any ideas!

Everyone's skin is different so the results can vary from person to person. Some people get an initial breakout followed by clearing and that is completely normal. Can I ask you how much BP you're using? At this point you should only be using about one pump twice a day. Usually by week 4 you start with 2 full pumps. It's very important to start slow and ease your skin into the treatment to minimize uncomfortable redness and dryness, which is also completely normal. If starting too fast is the problem, then just cutting back on the amount of BP should help. Good news is this phase is temporary, so hang there!

However, swelling could indicate an allergy. I might try stopping the Regimen and see if the swelling goes away. If it does, then just try applying the BP on a small area like your jaw. Keeping doing this and see if there's any reaction. If the swelling returns, then you're probably allergic to BP.

Let us know how you do! :)

Hi! Thank you so much for responding. I could really use some words of encouragement with this regimen. I don't have the pump but I am using about a pea size or BP twice a day, maybe a tad more than that at night. I try to not load it on just yet. And my face isn't necessarily swollen, but my pimples are much larger and cystic looking. And I mean, my face has gotten wayyyy worse. I am scared it's going to scar badly. Do you suppose it could be the off brand jojoba oil causing this? Thank you again DeLovely!

Try not to get too bogged down in results until after 3 months. I was still breaking out 2.5 months later on 2 full pumps so everyone is different.

I have read different reactions to the Jojoba oil, some break out and some don't. Personally I don't use Jojoba Oil, i just smother my face with 3 pumps of cetaphil ultra hydrating moisurizer and it works out for me without any breakouts. Perhaps you should lay off the Jojoba Oil for a week and see if your acne gets better.

I thought i was a rare case - but my skin HATES jojoba. I know... I know... It's supposed to not clog pores and be a similar substance to our skins' sebum - but my skin just hates it.

I use grape seed, Shea and sweet almond. No problems with those.

Oh - and I waited until I was clear to add in any oils. Just out of fear, I guess. But it worked for me.

My acne got worse while I was on my first two months of the Regimen. It did not get better until 2.5 months so I think it's normal. You just have to stick through it. I have also read reviews where people react badly to jojoba oil so you might consider other options like argan oil maybe? Hope this helps! :)
