Very Red From Aha

Yesterday I started to use Dan's bp and aha.

Last night I applied the aha. I've been using acanya on my face which has 2.5% bp in it so I thought it would be fine.

Omg I woke up this morning and my face is super super red, like a bad sunburn. I also have a weird mark on my right cheek. Its so upsetting bc my right cheek is the only place I never got acne, it's always perfectly clear.

Needless to say I'm freaking out. I just need assurance that I didn't F my skin up permanently. Also need advice on how to deal with this bizarre redness.

Thank You!

I mix the AHA in with the moisturiser because it's too strong to put on alone. I only use a pea size of it and then 1 and half pump of moisturiser, my face gets a little red after I put it on but the redness goes away completely the next morning. How did you use it and how much did you use?

I think I used like a pump and rubbed into my entire face. My nose and cheeks are burned. The rest of my face is blotchy red. I'm so upset, it looks horrible and its scaring me to death!

I'm also wondering how I should treat this, I'm scared to put anything on my face.

Oh don't stress about it, it's fine the redness will go away in a few days it's not going to be permanent. I put AHA on it's own a few weeks ago but I messed up and put too much AHA on my skin and after a minute of putting it on it started to burn and my face was very red, the redness went down a little the next morning and it went away completely the next day so 2 days it took to go down for me. I didn't put any AHA on during the 2 days and now I only use a pea size amount mixed with 1 and a half or 2 pumps of Dan's moisturiser.

Also I put a LOT of Dan's moisturiser over my face that night to calm it down but I probably should have just washed everything off.

Please be carful with the AHA. I used it for under 2 months and it gave me a couple atrophic scars out of nowhere (I'm not kidding), large pores, and broken blood vessels. I wish I never used it and am depressed over it. My face looks like crap now, 4.5 months later after I quit using it.

Yeah, I'm so mad at myself for being so aggressive with it. I just figured that I've been using bp that my face wld be fine. I always thought my face to be tough and that it would handle it. Holy moly was I wrong!

Now I'm just in a dilemma what to put on my face. I get so scared about not putting some kind of topical on it. I don't want to irritate my skin further though. I have just plain clindamycin gel without bp and am thinking about putting that on. Or maybe just give my skin a total break from everything for a day. I don't know..sigh.

Of course today is the day I have to go out in public..that's just my luck..

Well any suggestions on how I should care for my face with this redness would be much appreciated!!

I truly can't believe how red it is!

I don't know how bad your red face is but if it's serious I'd not put anything on my face for at least 2-3 days or whenever the redness goes away. I don't know what your regimen is or if you can have a break for that long but it's really up to you if you want to continue with your normal regimen without using AHA but that could be too much for you skin to handle therefore have a break until everything goes back to normal. :)

William,

Tysm for being so helpful, I truly appreciate it! Yes I think for at least today I am going to leave my skin alone. It really looks like a very bad sunburn on my nose and side of my nose..The rest of my face is blotchy..i have patches of places that are less red than others, it just looks bad.

Well lesson learned..must use aha w moisturizer..even though it might take me a long while to be brave enough to use it again..
