Hello all,
Long time acne sufferer here, both on my face and back.
I have tried everything imaginable from over the counter to prescription. Nothing had worked, so I finally made an appointment with a dermatologist to see what could be done. I waited close to nine months for the appointment and was very excited when the day to see her finally came. To my surprise, the appointment was rushed and I did not feel that my situation was taken seriously. I was immediately told "your diet has nothing to do with acne, you must take accutane."
This was not the news that I wanted to hear of course, so I thanked the doctor and went on my merry way. The following day in class we watched a documentary on the pharmaceutical industry and their relationship with hospitals and doctors. I soon realized that this "doctor" did not care about me or my skin. She had an agenda, and that agenda was to push me to take a drug that was not necessary in my specific case.
A piece of advice to all my acne facing brothers and sisters, before you take the path of drugs and the like please consider examining your diet. In my case, I have cut out dairy, caffeine and sugar and have seen AMAZING results. Remember, healing starts within your body and the unfortunate part about healthcare in this country is that it is extremely profit driven.
Just my two cents.
God bless
