Hello. So the deal is ive tried everything for my acne in the past 5 years now. I started solodyn going into my senior of high school. That worked for about three months then my doctor turned me to accutane which cleared me up in 5 month and kept me clear until the first week of college :( I was then put on solodyn again which kept me moderately clear for about 3 months again. But then i started breaking out badly again. i visited the dermatoligst and he shoved accutane back down my throat again. The results were not as great this go around and the side effects were even worst (anxiety/depression). So after going off that i lived with moderately clear skin for about 6  months. Once again i was prescribed solodyn, surpisingly it got me the clearest ive ever been my sophomore summer. I stayed on it for nearly a year and a half. Start of senior year of college i broke out terribly again. Back to the dermatoligist where i was then prescribed Bactrim. This got me clear and kept me clear for about 8 months. That leads us to now. Ive decided to try probiotics because just about everything tells me the antibiotics have actually made my skin the way it is. Im just so frustrated. I visited me dermatolgist and he thinks i should do accutane for a 3rd time!!!!!!! Ive now been on these garden of life probiotics for about  a week now. Im breaking out moderateley so my question would be does it get worse before better with probiotics for acne???? Im 23 male.

Antibiotics alter your gut flora, so in the long run it made your acne worse. Probiotics and enzymes help digest food in the gut. Its basicly good bacteria you need. I think it all starts in the gut. Acne is a holistic problem and doing antibiotics are not a cure. You probalby have intolerance on some food. There are a lot of post on forums and content on internet. Gluten and dairy are the culprit of acne. Try to eliminate those and see if it works for you.

Tbh, going on those antibiotics was not a good idea. It probably messed up your gut flora quite a bit and created a bunch of food intolerance issues. This has happened to me as well. I first used antibiotics for 2 years and then quit and broke out pretty bad. I eliminatef ALL forms of sugar including fruits, ketchup and whatever as well as every single source of dairy and white bread. This cleared me up and then i slowly started introducing sugar back into my system. Took me months before I could eat sugar and experience a minimal breakout. However, I was pretty much 98% clear for the next 2 years.

I recently had to take antibiotics again for a stomach infection for a week and that cleared my face up for 2 months. However, I had a really bad breakout again and have been struggling to fix my gut issues once again. It really takes a lot of time, effort and patience to rebuild your gut once again but youll get there if youre determined. This time around i have been reluctant on letting go of sugar (1tsp everyday with tea) but i think ill finally give in and stop having it because my breakouts still persist and i need to give my gut more time to heal before introducing sugar back in. same goes for dairy. hope this helps

I wish I had seen this sooner. I was put on antibiotics by three different derms when I was a young adult. I had told the second and third derm that antibiotics did not work, and that each time I got off them, my acne came back worse. I also had a very upset stomach for the many months I was on them at a time. I also overdosed the third time. I have always wondered if that's why I have stomach problems today, including reflux and food intolerances. I agree with the above posters to stay away from antibiotics. I wish I had answers for you.
