I had the most vivid dream last night, felt like I was at a super conscious level like become really smart lol, I could actually recall myself thinking so deeply in my dream.
In my dream, I analyzed and made a conclusion that Soy was a bad acne trigger for me and it was. I had been eating buffalo wings lately, and looking at the ingredient, it's full of soy.
Some dreams... I knew it was a dream in my dream, but felt so real with such vivid details.
I don't have sweet cravings, I don't eat any sugar except for low IG fruits. I'm not taking probiotics now. I used to take probiotics in pills only. I don't wanna eat dairy, even fermented dairy like kefir or natural yogurt. I could take probiotic in pills but I don't know if it's ok
You won't see any great results before you start using sources of probiotics and prebiotics. Probiotic supplements are fine, fermented foods, unwashed and organic vegetables, oligofructose etc

Hi! I've tried several brands and it's hard to tell which ones are the best. I've had good success with Primal Defense Ultra:-)
you guys have not heard fromme for a week or two and with good reason, I havent been getting on the board. I'm finally clear, and like most people didnt want to jinx myself or cry wolf the first day. I was on paleo for four months and discovered probitoitcs and began taking them one month ago. I was able to get away with a little cheating too and im STILL CLEAR. during this four months, I've smoked ciggarettes, I've drank beer, I've eaten aged cheese NEVER CRAPPY PROCESSED CHEESE, A god awful for you chick fil a sandwich, a krispy kreme doughnut, at least 20 dark chocolate bars (85% or above). I've even eaten a serving of my grandmother's lasagna just to make her happy.
Does this mean I wasnt strict? Hell no, I'd often go weeks without cheating, then cheat a little within a short period (Family get-togethers, parties, etc) Mostly almost when I had to. The point is when you cheat, DONT STRESS ABOUT IT, and if you have any form of self discipline you shouldnt be cheating much, This diet is like being on cocaine 24/7.
I got clear with four months of paleo, and one month of probiotics. Nothing else, nothing special, there was no supplement I took daily, no juice fast, no liver cleanse. I would reccomend you guys a fair amount of wild caught seafood. I took pb8, 365 probiotics, and primal defense ultra, not all at the same time though. Currently on primal defense and 365. I drank kefir and ate sauerkraut, and although i think kefir is good for you, cutting it out after about 3 weeks of drinking it seems to be slightly helpful with inflammation. I'll be happily eating this way for as long as I can afford, now that my gut flora is right and I'm on the perfect diet, I've never had energy like this. I wish good luck to you all, and if you are on paleo and probiotics, dont worry, you're on the path to success.

Congrats.....i have been on Paleo for 2 months and take probitoics and my acne is probably at the worse i've seen it. I think paleo if is going to clear you up will do it in a decent time frame - how long did it take you to get clear via paleo

4 months, just give your body time and dont stress!
Edt: judging by all the pills you're trying way too hard

Just following my holistic derms advice. I have a few underlying health issues so......
I'm interested in The Gut Diet, but it does not mention quantities. For instance, how much prebiotics and probiotics should I take?
I think it's because quantities have to be adjusted for each person. I've given my personal recommandations in this thread.
Probiotic supplements - Most people can start with high doses (50-200 billion live organisms) without problem
Fermented foods - Start slow and expect initial worsening. When you have adjusted you can eat "as much as you want" of most fermented foods (e.g. properly fermented and refrigerated sauerkraut)
Prebiotic supplement - Start slow, 1/2 teaspoon and gradually increase to 3 teaspoons.
Prebiotic foods - Start slow, e.g. half onion
One thing I can't say often enough: Just adding a probiotic supplement to the diet will no cause any substantial difference in most people. Several sources of benefical bacteria/probiotics and prebiotics are needed for optimal results!
I am taking 6-12oz of kefir everyday, having great results mixed with paleo diet and I started probiotics today.
I'm going to start with 1/day, but it only kills 7 billion c.f.u, how am I supposed to go for 50-100? I guess I didn't buy the right one, 20$ for 30 pills damn!
Hi!
I just got back from a shop and I got some water kefir. I prepared a litre and they told me to leave it for 24 hours.
My question is: Should I drink a litre of kefir water tomorrow or is it too much? I started with Paleo three days ago and wanted to introduce some probiotics as well.
Thanks!
Yeah, I can't handle kefir either.
I wish.
There's one called Primal Defense that appears to not have corn in it. However it uses something call "HSOs" which I've read some mixed things about. I'm actually looking around for a good probiotic, too, something with 10-15 billion CFUs, but I'm still not exactly certain what's best.

It isn't necessarily important how many organisms the supplement contains, but several billions usually means that more bacteria survive the GI tract. But, the strains are also important.

Very few individuals with a dysfunctional gut flora can handle any properly fermented food in the beginning. As I've mentioned previously in this thread:
The fact that you react (e.g. acne, bloating, gas, loose bowel movements etc.) to fermented foods (e.g. kefir) means that you have a dysfunctional gut flora since you react to new strains of beneficial microorganisms.
You have to start with one fermented food at the time and very small quantities. Slowy increase the quantity and stick with it regardless of how you react!

I've used that supplement with good success. Primal Defense Ultra:)
So I went to Whole Foods and bought a bottle of Inner-Eco coconut kefir. Anyone heard of it or tried it? It's gluten-free, dairy-free, etc. and it has 100 billion CFUs in one serving (which is one tablespoon) with about 30 servings per bottle. Looks like it could be pretty good, my only concern is the lack of acidophilus, which is supposed to be one of the best probiotic strains. Oh well, it wasn't terribly expensive and I'm excited to try it.

I tried that one, it made me feel really sick and have horrible stomach aches. Don't think I'll be doing that again.

Sasch,
I'm sure others would agree with me, and from your gallery pictures, even ones where you say you had/are having bad acne, I see NO acne. Maybe some pimples here and there, but I don't even see blackheads or pores. Seeing your posts of that time were also about the acne you were presumably posting pictures of, I'm going to go out on a limb and say your skin is nowhere near as bad as you think it is.
Of course, things could have changed, but seeing as you're under a naturopaths care and have been dealing with your skin for some time, and are doing many things for it, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you are probably stressing yourself out way more than needed.
I don't know about continually using them regardless of your reaction. I can see why you'd recommend it, but I think there are cases (like mine) where you need to listen to your body. I wasn't just having some breakouts or gas pains, I was getting seriously sick from taking probiotics (or attempting to eat them at times). For example, kombucha. I got so sick from that stuff. I couldn't have continued taking it or I would have probably gone to the hospital at some point.
I don't know, I've always felt iffy about this probiotic stuff. I don't really think it's natural to get that much bacteria into your gut in pill form.

Those pics were taken when i was on retinoids so acne was not great but not horrendous (just some of the times). Either way it was always there and I would get new blemishes EVERY day which is not normal. It has since gotten worse, especially being off the topicals. Compared to others it is not severe and most of the time, not even moderate but it still bothers me and i do stress over it. What concerns me is that i break out EVERY day despite nutritional changes AKA Paleo. And the acne i do get hangs around forever and never seems to go away. i also do not have a skin care regimen down to control the acne i am getting. Tried some natural things and nothing seems to work.
I am working on my stress though and hoping that this supplements will kick in soon so at least i know i'm on the right path

Try other fermented vegetables like Kimchi. Kimchi is soo darn delicious.
