Try intermittant fasting. It is very beneficial. We are not meant to always eat so much food every day. Going hungry sometimes plays an important role in our metabolism.

i read about some people losing fat in their breasts and then having loose hanging skin from doing this..so it scared me away from fasting. Theres other forms of fasting that dont make you lose weight if your skinny, like eating raw fruits/veggies/nuts for 2months. I don't think i lost any weight on that diet because i was constantly eating and tried to eat fattening stuff like avacadoes(300 calories), and sesame seeds (565 calories per 3 grams) and it did clear me up but you gotta eat healthy afterwards just like water fasting, if you eat cookies it will come back but much much worse.

Hey, if you have oily skin and acne/pimples than this will most likely work for you as is does for me and others.
After fasting for more than 2 days i notice my acne/pimples and redish marks/acne on face and my oily skin is completely gone...my acne completely disappears.
My regime now /diet plan is fasting for at least 2-3 days and then eating one and then doing this on and on. it's called (intermittent fasting )
after the fast (more than 3 days ) if you start eating normally/everything you want you will notice that (at least i do) than my acne comes back and also my oily skin...So NO! it is not a CURE for acne it just makes your acne go away while you fast...In my case my acne goes away after 2 days and even more so for more than 3 day
dont eat anything ..only pure water.

Are you serious??? No, if you really think that fasting is the cure for acne, then you should try this: Do not drink water, do not eat anything for 40 days. You will die. No life-no acne! Easy!

I agree AutonomousOne. The body goes thru ketosis. It'll burn up fat, but after 48 hours it'll start breaking down muscles as well. Not to mention the lack of glucose can make people sick, lightheaded, dizzy, or faint. Every culture partakes of fasting, usually it is only 1-2 days, some even eat only when the sun is down. Even the French women's diet recommends fasting only 1 weekend a month, but you still consume broths throughout the weekend. That way you still get some sustenance.
Fasting for long amounts of time can cause permanent damage to your metabolism and thyroid. Not to mention your internal organs. Furthermore, It sounds like the thread poster has an eating disorder...fasting for several days, then binging on unhealthy foods.
If I miss a single meal during the day I get cranky, which could lead to stress, which could lead to acne. I haven't experienced this cuz I have a general rule, ALWAYS EAT 3 MEALS A DAY.
Im the same way. I generally eat healthy. If I skip a meal or am to busy to eat when I'm hungry, I'll get nauseous and a headache, to the point where I have to lay down for a bit. Then when I eat, about an hour later, I'll be back to normal bc my blood sugar is normal again.

Intermittent fasting doesn't necessarily mean you eat fewer meals and it actually one of the best things you can do for blood sugar. Visit the thread.
Intermittent Fasting (every other day) definitely works for me and my acne.
I learned some time ago that carbs/sugar definitely aggravates my acne. 60 grams of carbs per day seems to be my maximum tolerance before my face turns into a pizza pie (carbs from vegetables and nuts don't seem to have an effect on me but carbs from bread, pasta, sugar, condiments (ketchup!), milk and even whole fruit do - so those are the items I count towards my 60 grams).
Low carbing is all fine and dandy for me during the warmer months when there's no shortage of grilled meats, grilled or sauteed vegetables, salads, olives and cheeses for me to graze on but once the autumn and winter months kick in, I can't help but crave comfort foods which are the very starchy/carby/sugar ladened foods I know I need to avoid to keep my clear complexion.
Anyways, this is where IF comes into play for me. I've found that if I fast every other day, I can pretty much engorge myself (and engorge I do) on all the carby goodness I typically need to avoid and still keep my skin at a constant 'acne free glow'. I'd probably IF all year long if I couldn't give up my bad carbs, but it's really just the colder months where I actually miss or crave these foods (and I like to obey my tummy).
Bonus points - although i don't IF all year long, supposidely there are some great health benefits to intermittent fasting and so I at least feel like I'm partaking in something that's good for my body as a whole, in addition to being able to partake in seasonal goodies I'd normally have to avoid to keep acne (especially cystic) at bay. Fasting one day at a time isn't all that hard and it actually gets easier the more you do it (water only btw, sorry juicers).
Anyways, I'm sure everyone has different needs and root causes of their acne but if I were to guess the cause of mine, I'd probably guess it's insulin resistance related. If you suspect that's the cause of yours, perhaps a similar low carb or IF eating strategy might be helpful for you.

You do it by not eating or eating minimal calories every other day? Couldn't do that, and lest the idea closes off anyone's mind to Intermittent Fasting--According to studies, you get the exact same benefit by eating all your calories in an 8-hour period leaving 16 hours fasting period. And that's just what was studied. It's most likely beneficial in other time variations. I do this any day it works out eating most of my calories at breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack, but I rarely don't eat anything in that 16 hours, but usually have something very light like a vegetable soup drizzled with some olive oil to take my vitamin with. I don't calculate anything, but the calories in the veggie soup are negligible and there would be less than 100 in the less than a tablespoon of oil. .
And you don't necessarily have to be insulin resistant. Yet--As most in our culture are on their way to insulin resistance and diabetes. You could simply consume more sugar at once than your perfectly functioning cells can take in because they are already full. There's so much in this lifestyle we've developed that puts us on a path to diabetes. Do anything you can to improve your blood sugar metabolism.
Get up and run up a flight of stairs or something and you'll burn up the stores in the cells so they will take in more glucose.

I just don't eat for a day, then I eat whatever I want the next. I know it's not for everyone but it works for me as I generally don't get hungry until I take in my first meal for the day (plus I only do this in the autumn and winter months when I crave carb ladened foods which I know break me out without fail). I do remember reading something about the 8-hour/16-hour thing working just as well as every other day fasting, but since I'm not driven to eat daily anyways (when I do eat it's either cause I'm HUNGRY, with friends or there's free food ), I've never tried it myself. I definitely think it'd be worth trying out though for anyone who wants to try IF for their acne and doesn't want to go every other day without eating.

Before I judge, I'm going to try it for myself. From 12pm today, water, herbal tea infusions and ACV drinks with the occasional fruit. I'll return to this thread in 5 days (if I'm still alive ) to document my findings. I have a lot of lean muscle mass to lose, but in the interest of curiosity, I'm willing to make a little sacrifice.

That's a good point; I'm not sure. I'll have to test it. I have reduced wheat in my diet recently, not deliberately but just to ensure I ate more veg instead but I eat eggs a lot.

Very Common? Where are you getting your numbers? Food intolerance's aren't very common, they are rather rare.
