Some very good theories here, I'll try harder this time to stick with it longer than 10 days....
Whatever the reason, if not jacking can reduce acne by a meaningful amount, it's fine with me.
Are you saying you jacked it recently? Well, I think you have people rooting for you at this point, so no more jackin!
But masturbation is natural... why would abstaining make a difference? Regardless of if you jack off or don't, you're going to have ever-changing and fluctuating hormonal levels. That is how humans operate, and for some people it causes acne, but I don't think it can realistically be avoidable.
Summation:
Hormones are always fluctuating in the human body. This is natural and unavoidable.
Unless you all plan on being asexual for the rest of your lives, this isn't really a longterm solution even if you are seeing temporary results right now.
I agree with Brandy... You cant just NOT have sex your whole life!! I'm a girl and I cant even imagine that!! Yikes! However I have found a connection as well .... ugh I hate it. BUt I'm certainly not going to just stop having organsms my whole life... That's just sad...
I've been trying to figure ways to balance my hormones in the mean time.... Evening Primrose oil, Vitex, DIM... I wonder if you can like have an orgasm and then run and take a certain supplement to keep your hormones from going crazy? I used to think Evening Primrose Oil did the trick...but I think it stopped working haha.
you're forgetting that there's a 0% chance of me having sex in the near (I'm talking years, at least) future, because I don't want a girlfriend, and I'm not really interested in 1 night backroom-at-the-party-on-a-saturday-night stands, because I don't want herpes. And, even if I was "trying" to get laid, it wouldn't happen, because I'm too introverted and not that good looking anyway.
so it's like saying, "you can't fly to the moon". It doesn't really apply to me anyway.
And jerking off isn't so great that I can't live without it. I just have to use that 30-45 mins in some other entertaining way.
I think people who are trying this aren't really planning on abstaining from sexual activity for the remainder of their lives. At least I'm not.
All I'm trying to do is clear up the acne I currently have, and masturbation always seems to give me a couple new blemishes and make the pre-existing ones redder and more pronounced. Basically, it hinders the clearing process.
If I ever get clear, there's a chance I might engage in a little something once in a while, because a couple of pimples on an otherwise clear face never really hurt anyone.
What do you guys think of taking saw palmetto in conjuction with eliminating ejaculation for a week or so, sp is supposed to block DHT or unbind it. And would taking zinc be pointless since abstaining?
Saw palmetto should work in theary, but you just don't hear people talking about the results they get with it.

haha, so then if abstinence helps acne, we should all join [Removed]
haha, just kidding.
But seriously now: I don't think sex or masturbation has any linking to acne. Im not a scientist or a doctor, but I can say that I had the biggest breakout EVER during a time I didn't masturbate. It's the red marks of that breakout who have stayed until today and are the biggest issue about my skin. My acne luckily has gone down and I get 1-2 small zits a week, which I treat with BPO.
I've been unable to abstain since the last two weeks, but this Saturday was the first time in weeks that I actually ejaculated. Since then a breakout has started. I actually woke up at around 5am this morning feeling a "pinch" across my face and feeling warm (when it wasn't even really hot), knowing full well that I was about to end up with a major break out.
By the end of the day my face has become a complete mess, like it hasn't been in a long time.
I don't need more proofs. It is absolutely certain to be related. For some people it might be something else, but for me this is it. I expect it to continue to get worst until the end of this weekend. My stomach has also been feeling bad during this time, another side effect I often have during major flare ups.
Then it's back to abstaining, because there is simply no more doubts to me. My face was so clear until I broke the trend, I want that face back.
Hi guys, I'm on the seventh day, so I can give you a small status report. My skin cleared up a little bit on the 3-4 day, but on the fifth day, my skin was oily and a little bit itchy again. I'm on the seventh day, but not worse, not better. Why on the fifth day began to worsen? Maybe erections have also an effect on acne?
Ok - I joined this forum - just for this thread.
So here goes - I actually tried doing this about 3 years ago - when I first believed that acne was primarily cause by masturbating. Back then I went something like 47 days without blowing.
Prrrroblem was - it didn't really help - so I went back to regular. Now since then I have managed to 'contain' my acne a little bit more and haven't really been too bothered by the 1 pimple a day. . . .well not AS much anyway.
Recently I have quit my job and been spending ALOT more time on the internet. Annnnd I have been getting terrible breakouts.
Thinking back on that time when I stopped - I think about 1 thing. I still 'played around' alot. Got as far as possible without blowing - almost every 2nd day or so I guess. Which was the reason why I ended the thing - by accident. Now I think that period of arousal is probably just as bad (maybe not quite as bad, but definitely up there) as blowing.
Now I did see some improvements - but also it is interesting to note - that whenever I did actually do the deed - I broke out so much worse than I normally would. Which is why I think that it is very much a mental thing as well. You have to be very careful not to get carried away mentally into thinking masturbating will make you terribly break-out. Because even if it does, thinking that way will only make you break out more.
------------------------------
So here is my theory.
I don't think that masturbation is the problem here.
I think that OVER masturbation is the problem.
Think of it like the idea of your body being filled with toxins - Same principle, except reversed.
If you continuously over-masturbate for a period of time - you deplete a certain product within your body. Whether that be Zinc, or something else I have no idea. But for this purpose let's call it
"Product X"
Now when Product X gets depleted, it takes along time for it to be restored back to full potential.
And it works exponentially. So my theory is that once you have restored this balance, you can masturbate 'as per usus' as long as it is within your threshold. And as long as you are not going over your 'Over-masturbation' limit.
So what I am going to do is this.
I am not going to masturbate for atleast 2 months.
I will report my findings and all back to you all - and then if all is well by then - I will ease back into it and go something around where I think my comfortable threshold is of once every three days or so.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now I have previous experience with this - So I know how to get started and what not to do.
Important notes - I will not be touching it AT ALL! - (Even when I toilet it up jks)
Annnd if anyone wants to know how serious I am - I just finished deleting about 50GB of 'high quality, subscription' porn off my computer. It has literally taken me years to horde. I was sooo proud of it all
But this is for the greater good.
Currently I have Moderate acne on my face - two very large cystic acne bumps on my forehead, one of the biggest motherf*ckers I have ever seen to the right of my lip and a couple of sprouts popping up around the cheeks. Starting to get serious back acne and beginning for the first time to get some leg acne.
So this stops now. I have relieved myself for the last time for the period of the next few months - seems sad, but I have a purpose in mind.
I am also going to record current bodyweight and keep my diet current, because I have also been trying to put on weight alot over the last year and failing. So this should be interesting.
Let me know if you would like me to record any other results as well.

Good luck man... 2 months is an eternity...
hey guys im going to abstain for a while too. I'm also working on the problems that are the real culprits.
The long course of antibiotics have given me candida overgrowth, which led to leaky gut syndrome. All this crap messes up your entire body, screws with your hormones, weaken the liver, digestion, immune system, etc. In the 20 days of my regimen I'm making progress with with the candida overgrowth and healing the gut.
I'm on day 8 of abstinence and noiticed some big, painful breakouts, which is consistent with your info. I plan on holding out until my candida overgrowth is completely gone and when the leaky gut is about fully healed. This may take over two months.
I thought i was alone in this fight but it seems I can pull this off after seeing this topic. I'll post every week and tell you my progress.
Ok - I joined this forum - just for this thread.
So here goes -
This doesn't apply to me at all. I practically completely cleared up when I abstained for a month. Got my breakout during the first week, peaking around the 7th day, then gradually healed completely.
When I jerked off again without ejaculating (basically no different than going all the way, since the sperm is produced anyway), I started breaking out again the following week, especially around seven days later. The following weekend I jerked off and ejaculated, and I've had a huge breakout over the following week, which is now starting to go away since.
So it's certainly not "over masturbation", it is any level of masturbation. I jerk off, I break out. Period.
Day 8Morning
I feel my face a little bit dry, but oily, and yesterday (day 7) many new pimples came to the surface... So like a clockwork. The only interesting thing is, that the initial worsenig began on the fifth day. Is there someone else who has the same results?
It is normal. The "seventh day" thing is just the peak.
But after the seventh day, it starts going down again, so it will take another week for things to return to normal. After that you are onward to a good clearup if you're like me. So it usually takes three weeks from starting to abstain to "realize" that it is working and see the results.
