pantothenic acid vs. pantethine?

The brand doesn't matter.

Supplements are not regulated by the FDA so different companies don't always put the dosage they claim. They also formulate them differently which can change their effectiveness. Aside from that, it's been my personal experience that one brand was extremely effective and another completely ineffective. I think it's important to mention this, because I've seen people write on here that the Pantothenic acid they are taking is not showing results. I also should mention that the brand that was effective for me was a time-release formula which may have had something to do with it. The ineffective brand was in capsule form. I've switched to pantethine though anyways, and it's working well.

Thank you for this. As i said, Im using the GNC brand and I am seeing a difference now. I'd have to say that i do have less oil than usual. I have a question though. Obviously I want to reach the point where my face is dry, or at the very least, a very very minimum amount of oil produced. But honestly, I want dry. Anyhow, my question is, Will dryness come gradually since I am currently seeing an improvement now or I am supposed to see dryness right away or rather quickly? I am about to complete week 2 of my 10grams daily regimen.

Im really considering switching to the ONE brand since a lot of folks say it worked for them. I think I will give the GNC brand one more week, just to see if I get anymore dry. It is much more expensive than the One brand, I pay $12 for 100 pills, which last 5 days.

Any advice or suggestions is of course, greatly appreciated!

Hey, guys ... Well basically 1 month ago I ordered b5 plus pantethine from the net ... Within 2 days of consuming it... My fce was dry and blackheads started coming out( good thing, I did not mind a breakout b cause I have severe acne and I just wanted dry skin so I know that it would constantly improve).... I 450 mg pantethine, 500 mg pan acid and cystenie and 1 b complex... Twice a day.... It worked for 6 more days.... Then after that oil started to come back... After weeeks of trying to find what I messed up, I just came toa stupid conclusion that my vitamins spoiled due to me refrigerating it.. Then I ordered more online again... And it arrived.... My second day now and I don't intend to take pan acid but am taking pantetheine 4 times a day.. Total 1800mg,... Still my face is oily... Though I know it's only been 2 days.... I can't stop thinking whether it will work.... And guys do u take pantethine with food???

Any suggestions....

For those whom pantethine worked for, do you work up a sweat often... Because when pantethine worked for me I was playing competitive football... Then I got depressed after oily skin returned and stopped working out....

I think you should take the pantethine and only the pantethine. This is just my opinion of course, but I have reasons. One reason is that I've read that when you take pantethine, you need less of it and there is no need to take anything with it like b-complex or cystene. B-12 supposedly can induce acne eventually, and if you are taking the complex, the b-12 might be building up to a point where that's exactly what it's doing. I know what you mean about being depressed from oily skin. People who have dry skin do not know how lucky they are. But I have very high hopes with the pantethine. I'm still upping my dose and my skin is almost dry. It's very exciting.

I'm guessing you are taking pantothenic acid and not pantethine? From my experience and what I've read, pantethine is much more effective and you don't have to take nearly as much. I'm very pleased with it.

Hey Conspiracy theoryT,

I agree that most don't know how lucky they are with dry skin... I believe tht you re the expert in pantethine.... Well , you should know I am DESPERATE to get rid of this oily skin... I am happy for you that pantethine is working well for you...

I ll heed yr advice on taking pantethine alone....... Pantethine alone and see how it goes for 2 weeks...

Anyhow, I am a little worried due tithe fact the made have complained that pantethine make certain individuals oilier but clear.... I certainly don't want that....

But I ll give it a go.... Right now I am taking 3 pills a day.... 450 mg each... nSI brand...

.

But I would like some clarity in.... Since I plan to manipulate yr regimen into mine...

1) do you take pantethine with food?

2) is yr pantethine a big yellow pill... ( kind like a harder softgels than vitamin e 's)???

Just checking consistency since I am using NSI brand...moreover I would like to thank you for yr reply and wanted to let you know I have incoporated excercising back into my life so hopefully that can help to some extent...

Cheers

how much pantethine are you guys using per day?

I'm on 900 mg of pantethine and 900 mg of pantothenic acid because it came that way with the brand I found. It's working very well, but I'm going to bump my dose up to 1500 mg of each. When I had been on accutane, my skin was completely dry and I loved that. To find a supplement that works this well though is extraordinary. ZPeople have commented on how amazing my skin looks. I wonder if I can find a dose that will get rid of the oil completely. I'm honestly being greedy because it's already amazing at 900 mg.

May I ask what brand you are speaking about?

The brand I'm using for the pantethine/pantothenic acid complex is vitamin shop. I'm currently taking 1500 mg of each respectively. It's working really well. I must caution you though, if you are planning on taking pantothenic acid, vitamin shop brand for that did not work for me. And I had been on 10 grams of the stuff per day. I had all of the side affects and none of the results.

Yes Im taking Pantothenic Acid. It seems like the best one of the two at least initially. Im not sure though, Im kinda confused also lol. Umm, Im going to stay on the pantothenic acid @ 10grams per day for another week. I'm also thinking about ordering the ONE brand, many people speak of good results from it. I do eventually plan on incorporating pantothene to lower the dose.

I had my tonsils removed when I was a kid, so swallowing tablets or softgels is no issue for me. So i dont think I would be a good source for a preference lol.

The pantethine I'm taking has made it so my skin never gets shiny, and it's totally clear. At the end of the day it is ever so slightly waxy. I've found online that sebum composition is squalene, cholesterol, wax, triglycerides, and fatty acids? Anyways I'm probably forgetting some things. I think the pantethine gets rid of the cholesterol. And I just avoided carbs for the past few days which I think eliminates the triglycerides portion of the sebum. Because it got even better. I'm doing more research on squalene and the wax portion. Any ideas on how those two things could be normalized? I still think pantethine is the main key here. But what about keritinization and the wax?

Hey CT,

it's good that you r looking In to the squaline and wax part, though from what I understand is that wax acts as a cleansing agent... You might think I m refering to ear wax but in definition the body produces wax to clean surface etc... Though I m not too sure abt this...

And keratinization, should not be of any worry to you because blackheads are often associated with keratinization excess due to sebum... But you are have controled oil and don't suffer from blackheads... I can confidently say, stop any methods to modify keratization bcause you will only mess up yr body chemistry more n more..

This is just my little bit of input...

This is what I'm currently taking and it seems to be working amazingly well. I added some things to the pantethine. I should note that I have a wheat allergy which I discovered after going on the Paleo diet. I believe my skin problems are due to nutritional deficiencies. The pantethine by itself is amazing and reduced oiliness by leaps and bounds. The vitamin A and E got rid of flakiness and blackheads. It also got rid of some annoying tiny bumps on my chin and milia around my eyes. I plan on adding fish oil soon, but I'm doing research on what formula would be the best. Perricone has one, but it's insanely expensive. When I avoid carbs and dairy my skin gets even better, which at this point is just icing on the cake.

1500 mg pantethine

1500 mg pantothenic acid

8,000 IU vitamin A

200 IU vitamin E

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Vitamin C

B-Complex

Multi vitamin

I'm currently taking 300,000 IUs of vitamin A (dangerous but so far I'm okay)

I upped my dose of pantethine complex to 20 pills a day-each pill is 1500mg of pantethine and 1500mg of pantothenic acid.

The other pills I take are:

Alpha lipoic acid

chromium

Fish oil

DMAE

a high quality multi vitamin

cinnamon

B-complex

The pantethine has had it's limitations. It definitely made me ALMOST oil free and very clear. I'm greedy and want the results accutane gave me years ago. If the vitamin A does that I will stop taking the pantethine complex simply because those pills are HUGE and I am now taking soo many pills that I am having trouble drinking enough fluids to keep hydrated. So I may have to switch my posts to a different thread soon that cover vitamin A. Vitamin A pills are tiny and easy to swallow compared with the pantethine. Another thing I'm trying is only raw foods since cooking destroys all kinds of vitamins and nutrients. I eat raw steak, raw salmon, raw vegetables. So follow my posts as I change topics. I feel like I'm getting extremely close to clearing it all up completely. As it is my skin looks very good.

Does pantethine cause hairloss, and similar side effects of b5?

I could not even take 200 mg of b5 without suffering from fatigue and lower back pain. Is it safe to say pantethine would be to storng for me?

To all you vitamin b5 users out there be very careful and dont over do it i was taking them for roughly 2 years starting at a lower dosage before upping it to 10grams a day for one whole year (crazy i know) and yes i do really regret it because now ive been diagnosed with coeliac disease :( and i know 100% this is what caused it

I come from a very healthy family with no history of coeliac disease so i havent inherited it

I was suffering for 2 years with stomach problems, hair loss, dry skin, constipation, diarrea, fatigue etc without knowing what was wrong i made several trips to the doctors but they couldnt find anything wrong apart from low vit d levels so i had to go on suffering until i came across coeliac disease on the internet and started to make all the connections so i went back to the doctors told them what i thought was wrong and it turns out i have coeliac disease and im also allergic to wheat

Since removing gluten and wheat from my diet ive bin seeing some gradual changes in my hair and skin in a good healthy way

I just wish i had a mature head on my shoulders back then and wouldnt of bin so stupid in taking all them tablets because now i have to live with this forever theres no cure :(

I wish i knew how b5 has caused this could it have changed the way my digestive system works or has it took something out of my body that i needed to break down food i dont know but wish i did

Goodluck to all the rest of you i just hope you dont have to go through what i do and IF you do start to get any of the symptoms i mentioned then get it checked out you could have coeliac disease aswel

in response to anyone wanting to try pantethine, i took jarrows 450mg 4 times daily for a month straight, mainly to combat oily skin, i have had no reduction in oil, in fact i think my skin has gotten oilier if its possible <img src=" http://www.acne.org/messageboard/style_emoticons/default/confused.gi f" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> , on to the next item in the list and it wont be b5 megadosing........

Yeah I've been taking 450 mg of Pantethine twice daily, along with 250 mg of L-carnitine, and have noticed very little difference. I think my skin isn't as oily but it's still very slick with oil. I really don't know what to do anymore. I'm scarred to death to start Accutane but it's looking more and more like it's most only choice.....

After giving birth (I could not go back on birth control that had controlled my skin previously, since I was breastfeeding)I needed something to control my acne and discovered Pantothenic Acid and began taking it.I had been mega dosing(7.5g per day)pantothenic acid for about 6 months with good resultswhen I realisedthat Dr Dach and Marie Veronique had suggested taking Pantethine instead. They both used Pantothenic Acid and Pantethine interchangeably which was confusing. But removingone step of the conversion in the body means less should berequired and mega dosing was such a pain- so i was very excited to try making the switch as it made sense to me.

I have been taking Jarrow Pantethine450g 3x per day for about a month and can safely say that it has had better effects than mega dosing pantothenic acid. I made the switch without overlapping the two.

along with this, I take a B complex to diminish the effects of lowering other B vitamins, D with K2 since Im darker skinned and naturally deficient and a multivitamin.

can report great results without any side effects thus far.
