It's interesting to see if you guys get results. I know about the whole b5 thing but that megadosing is crazy and bad for your body one way or another. Taking but a few pills of this should not be toxic. Although combining this with loads of other pills is stil a bit risky. If you guys see results maybe i'll try this in the summer....

Yowsa...Im starting to break out again...
I had been doing ok for the past week or so, I started taking epsom salt baths and everything was on the right track, now my face is about to break out with 3-4 new pimples.
There are 3 possibilites: The epsom salt baths are too drying for my face to handle and it is irritating; For the past 3-4 days i had been using vinegar on my red spots and active acne area (the area that is breaking out) and it is having a negative effect; or I am simply not "cured" of my breakouts and it was bound to happen.
Either way im upset and dissappointed. This time in my life I am at my prime health. I eat and drink better than I ever have, I havent had alcohol In a long Time, I'm taking numerous acne fighting vitamins yet I am still breaking out.
I've basically stopped the perricone regimen except for the diet and toner. I quit the cream about a week ago and the pills just today to see if it helps. Oddly enough my Back acne is still gone, but I'll wait to see for how long (its been probably around a month).

2ShyGuy, i have a theory.... I have heard that acne can take weeks to develop. Perhaps that window of clearness you experienced had to do not with what you started doing that week, but what you were doing in the weeks prior to it. Something that you stopped doing, thus allowing the breakouts to start again. Perhaps you were experiencing the first signs of success from that perricone regimen, or perhaps something else. Just something to think about.

2shyguy:
this is just my assessment of your situation, but why don't you just quit using all those topicals, and just try using a gentle exfoliating cleanser and moisturizer in addition to the vitamins, pantethine. I am willing to bet that 1/2 your problem is that you're being to harsh on your skin, and if you let your skin alone, the breakouts would dimish alot. again, this is just my opinion. all I can say is that quitting all topicals and taking pantethine helped me.

I've been on Pantethine for 2 wks now. I'm doing very well. I had the flu and was laid up for two days (I normally totally breakout when I'm sick) and my skin looks great.
I'll get one little breakout every once in awhile, but they are really small unoticeable ones. My oil is still under control. I also heard that you can take both Pantethine and Panteothenic Acid so I'm going to start taking 1gram per day (In hopes that it totally clears my face of even the tiny ones.) I'm so happy so far to be this clear! I haven't been this clear since I was pregnant about a year ago...Wooohooo!
On a side note, I just can't buy that it takes several weeks for breakouts to form. For me, it takes about 3 days. If I sunburn give it 3 days and my face will break out. If I start my period 3 days into I'll breakout. I also clear up just as fast. If something is going to work with my skin I know within 2-3 days, Of course we are all different.

2shyguy-
Maybe things get worse before they get better...You seem to quit things as soon as they get bad and move onto something else. I think most reg that may end up working, may cause an inital outbreak or get really bad before it gets better. It may even get bad, good, bad, good, etc, but each cycle is never as severe as the previous. Everything takes time. 4-6 weeks is normally a good estimate to see if something is working. Acne is forming under the skin all the time...I dont think Perricone's method is any good, b/c if you read the book the kid that actually had bad acne was also on the usual topicals as well (BP, GA). Only one person in the book wasnt and that was some 30 women that had mega stress and a mild breakout. I'm not saying Dr P wasnt on the right track, I think XGamer didnt fully explain it. Dr. P went on a case by case basis as do all doctors. Thats why one got more than the other...
Yeah thats great and all, the point I'm trying to drive home is that Dr. P's reg works on some and not others. Those that seem to have a bad/strong case of acne dont seem to fair well on just the pills, diet, and anti inflammatory topicals alone. Im not just talking about on this site but in his book, too.
I'm glad youre having results but you seem to be only the second person to calim decent results with this reg. If it works great, I dont want to hijack this thread and go on some off tangnet subject.
2ShyGuy gave up on it if I recall correctly. As for the others, well I have no idea. And I myself have adjusted my Regimen. I think I'm going to try in adjusted form of Dan's Regimen, combined with Gugulipids and Pantethine. Hopefully this will yield the results I want.
I've been off and on pantethine for the last month or so. So if it was working, stopping it and switching to B5 probably halted any progress and thus made me start over. So I gotta wait yet another month before I can see if there are any results.
I have been taking panothenic acid 5g and 1g of pantithine, along with minocin, and tazorac. My acne on my face, which wasn't bad is better, but not gone altogether. My acne on my back is a lot worse but this I believe is from the tazorac.
I have come to the conclusion that there is not difference between pantithine and panothenic acid mg vs mg. If you are taking only 900mg of pantithine as opposed to 5-10g, of panothenic acid your are not fooling your skin. I don't know who made the false claims that pantithine is stronger then panothenic acid. Its exactly the same in my opinion from using it for the last 2 months. Don't waste your time with pantithine because it cost more and does exactly the same.
I take 300 mg of Pantethine, 3 times a day, so 900mg total. It works the same as megadosing on B5. And it's safer, you don't have to take so many B5 pills. I heard that you can get calcium buildup in your kidney if you take B5 megadose for a long time. It's dangerous. A person had to get a painful kidney stone removed because of the calcium buildup from megadosing on B5.
Pantethine is safer and works the same. It is the active ingredient in Vitamin B5. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me and I'll respond in this thread.
I'm on a retinoid and had clear skin for a long time, but now its oily and im getting bumps/comedones/pimples...
I'm thinking of useing this, since oil is really the reason why we all get acne, and why accutane works!
how much should i take? ive never taken b5 before....
would the retinoids interfere at all, too?
This stuff sounds really interesting. I've always heard about B5 but got freaked out about the thought of taking so many pills.
Does anyone know if this pantethine works on little acne, clogged pores, and blackheads? My cysts and whiteheads have gone down over the years, but I still get a ton of these on my face and they're very noticeable.
im just starting to take this:
2 pills a day of http://www.iherb.com/store/ProductDetails....p;pid=NOW-00405
and
5-10grams a day of http://www.iherb.com/store/ProductDetails....p;pid=NOW-00550
it seems pretty cheap. is there anything else i should be aware of?
