yepican - I am not taking any supplements and weather here is actually pretty humid right now, which is why I don't understand the excessive dryness. My diet is good for the most part but diet doesn't play a huge role in my breakouts. Even when I have switched to very strict dietary rules, I still have fairly shitty skin. I do see some improvement on skin tone and dryness if I eat lots of greens, so I'll keep that up. I was thinking of taking fish oil for the dryness but I think I'll wait on that. Diet, for me, has never been any kind of permanent fix though, I feel like I need to just cut out irritation out of the equation for a while, my skin is very clearly damaged by products.
I've done this regimen before for a month+, I actually did it a few times before this thread was ever created and while I didn't break out anymore, my skin tone was bad and the dead skin buildup was excessive. From a distance, my skin actually looked good if not better than usual since irritation was minimal, but up close it was tremendously flakey and before there was actual healthy skin, there was a layer of dead/dry skin. I've mostly tried this regimen in the colder months though, so I think I'm gonna give it 2 weeks with very minimal washing just to see what happens in the summer. Maybe that dead/dry skin can start to be washed off by itself and my "real" skin can heal underneath it for a while. I'm not sure if that's how it works but all I know is my skin is very damaged from past product use and it's doing something on its own to combat that damage.
Right now I'm on day 2 and my flaking/deadskin buildup is excessive. My skin tone seems damaged and my face is itchy/dry. This is a fairly common side effect when I stop using a moisturizer but even while using a moisturizer this still happens so I'm gonna drop it and see if my skin can do some healing on it's own. I actually don't expect any new breakouts, rather dryness/tightness and dead skin, which is actually just as bad. I'm gonna see if any changes come about though, will keep it updated here.
Most acne regimens recommend the use of moisturizers because the medicating creams (BP, Sal acid, etc.) strip the skin of its natural moisture and oil content. Oil isn't your skin's enemy; it's there for a reason. Without sebum, your skin would literally fall apart from dryness.
Day #20: yesterday's shave wasn't as smooth as it could have been, but i'm ok with it. Gotta use more warm water.
Nose feels incredibly smooth with no little bumps. No new inflammatory acne.
day 4 on this regimen... Limited irritation has calmed my skin tone somewhat but the dead/dry skin mask has given me a pretty dull complexion. My skin is very "dead" and dull looking, almost a yellowish pale white, whereas I'm naturally pretty tan. I think this should subside within a week or 2. Gonna hang in there. Also, new small breakout could be coming on chin, haven't gotten one here for many months. Other than that, no active acne other than a few tiny whiteheads. My hyperpigmentation/redmarks still linger pretty badly, some from months ago, some from over a year ago. Hoping the little to no irritation approach of this regimen can help them fade a bit.
About the red marks you'll need to do something about it. What I used for it to disappear faster is to use turmeric juice over the red marks. Although time do fade it too but is very slow.
My marks don't seem to be leaving any time soon, with or without products. Sometimes they are very "calmed down" and look faded and almost blend in and sometimes they stand out a lot. This partially has to do with things like sun exposure, irritation and hot and cold weather. I know they'll fade eventually so my main issue now is keeping away the mask of dry/dead skin and limiting irritation. My only real breakouts ever seem to come from irritation, I just need to leave my skin alone and let it rejuvenate back to what it used to be before I damaged it with chemicals and hopefully it will retain its proper functionality in time. I am thinking of taking fish oil to help speed the healing up but I'm worried it may dry me out even more.
My only real worry is that I've done permanent damage or that this dead/dry skin mask will stay for months and months, if not more. I can only stay with it for so long, being a student and having a girlfriend makes it hard to have this strange looking flakey, dry, dead skin everywhere. :\
Hi everyone, here is my story
Sooo heres the story. I am currently 15 years old. I had acne since i was 13, but nothing severe at all. The occasional pimple here and there, you know puberty and what not. Well when i turned 14, i started developing an obsession with my acne. Like i dont know why but i think it broke out worse then usual one day (which wasnt anything severe, just maybe 5 pimples or something) and iwas picking at them and stuff.
This is when trouble began. I started doing EVERYTHING that you aren't supposed to do to your face because i was un educated about all of this. I applied alcohol and i rubbed at my face and i over dried it and i picked at my pimples and pretty much you name it ive done it. I think ive permanently damaged my face. And i know this because i have almost no acne anywhere except in the areas where i messed with it, which is my two cheeks lol. I have been using benzoyl peroxide twice daily and taking two tetracycline pills for the past 2 or 3 months, and it never helps so you know what?
IM DONE, im done with all these products and im done giving money to these lying corporations. Ill let my face do this work on its own, our body has been taking care of itself without chemicals for thousands of years, i dont think bombarding it with chemicals will help at all. And besides, i had perfectly fine (relative to teenagers) skin before i started doing all this crap to my face. Time to just let it go.
Im already on day 3 of this regimen. and what ive noticed so far is:
day 1: Face was VEERRYY oily, felt weird but felt good at the same time cuz.
day 2: Face was still very oily, but acne began getting less inflamed and i noticed that i was no longer getting this stinging feeling i usually get on my face. Feels good
day 3: Face was still somewhat oily, but definitely not as much as the previous days, this could be cuz i didnt do much today, but i dont know, maybe my face is starting to lay off all the sebum production or something.
i will keep you guys updated
WOW ok i just took a shower and my face is looking great, i have one pimple near my eyebrows (which is a bit weird because i usually never get pimples there, and one pimple on my cheek. But what ive noticed with my pimples these last couple of days is that they seem to go away after a good nights sleep and they are not really inflamed or anything. feels good right now but i wont count my eggs before they hatch as the saying goes lol. keeping my fingers crossed that ive finally found out what was causing my acne.
I have read this entire thread more than once, and I agree with the theory and I'd like to try it officially, but I'm not sure how to go about it..
Background: I'm 20 years old, female, and have had acne for 5 years--starting out as mild and getting worse as I got older, especially during the past 2 years. I won't list all the details since I know no one will actually read all of it.
My skin is freakishly sensitive, or at least very reactive. It's dry overall but oily on my nose. If I -don't- wash it twice a day it's not overly dry or oily, but my pores have always been extremely clogged all the time, no matter what I try. Masks, scrubs and remedies of all kinds..little difference. I've also tried steaming and the oil cleansing method, neither of which helped at all (even jojoba oil was a disaster, making me break out in cysts all over). The only thing that's helped is witch hazel and Ponds cold cream, but I can no longer use Ponds because they changed the formula and so now it is too irritating and makes me break out.
I've gone through short periods of time when I didn't consciously wash my face and it made no difference in the acne itself.. but my face always looked terrible and extremely clogged, blackheads everywhere, many of which would turn into big inflamed pimples.
What should I do? I was thinking of just resorting to using baby wipes on my face instead.. Or I could just use nothing but water, except water tends to dry me out.
Keep it up dude. We are with you here and good luck!
You've been trying doing all sorts of things and it still looked terrible and extremely clogged. I think now is the time to do nothing. I believe doing nothing won't make your face go from bad to worse because there won't be a reason for it to. Don't worry though cause you won't be doing this forever. Time will come when you will be able to do baby wipes, water cleansing, etc.
Just go for it and think positive!
So I'm a bit less than a week into this regimen and I gave my skin a break from everything for about 5 days. When I washed my face, I had so much dead skin on my face that I couldn't take it anymore so I kind of scraped it off with my fingernails. This left my skin very red and irritated so I put a little aloe vera(from Aubrey Organics) on my face and it calmed it down. The next day my skin actually looked really good and I have no breakouts from it.. My marks seemed a little more pronounced but my skin texture is very smooth.
I think I may have seborrheic dermatitis though because my dead skin will probably just keep coming back if I don't do something about it. Seb. Derm is basically like having dandruff on the face. I've read that seb derm is caused by bacteria growth on the face and can be fixed with diet and ACV combined with a natural moisturizer. Apparently ACV can kill the bacteria, we'll see. I've decided to take some action and try to use diluted ACV on my face and moisturize with the aloe vera every other day at night only for now. For now I realize that I can't do the do-nothing approach, I have too many important things coming up to have a dead skin mask.
I'd recommend that if you do start using products again after this regimen, you need to use natural products. I feel no irritation and have no worries about using these 2 products on my face, as they won't strip my skin or do any damage, quite the opposite actually.. I also will barely be touching or irritating my skin.
One day when this dead skin/dry skin/shedding problem subsides I will certainly do this regimen but for now I need some relief and ACV + aloe vera + a good diet may actually take care of it, assuming it is Seb Derm.
Day #26: A small, but painful pimple appeared just 1 or 2 mm away from an old mark on my left cheek. It is the first painful pimple to appear on my face for 26 days.
Aside from that, it's all good.
Washing gently with water every 2 days, shaving every 4 days. Still optimistic.
Day 4: Acne didnt look good or bad during the morning, but i was up until 2 at night and before i went to bed, it looked horrible. I had a bunch of whiteheads all over my face and stuff and yeah lol not good. (btw i let water touch my face in the shower)
Day 5: I woke up and my face looked very good actually, not inflamed and all the whiteheads were gone. But as the day went on my face started to kind of itch and get a bit flakey.
Day 6: I woke up and my face didnt look good or bad, just kind of normal i guess.
Day 7: i kind of went crazy and started touching my face lol, oh well im done with all these products and i dont care if my acne get bad or not, ill just let my face heal naturally
Count me in as one of those that believe washing your face often won't help your acne.
But I do believe acne is caused by internal conditions, rarely external (maybe if you're really really dirty)
As for me, I am using Carley's Clear & Smooth in the morning, and just splashing my face with cold water in the evening. The great thing about Carley's Clear & Smooth is that when you use it.. you can't even feel your spots/cysts when you wash with it. So it helps me not stress out about it
Not washing my face was the biggest step to clearing my acne.Make sure you don't use a shaving razor either. That strips the skin of the acid mantle just as much as washing with surfactants does (probably more).
I've been not washing my face for well over a year now and that's testament enough.
Make sure no water, no scrubbing with a towel. When you get oily blot it off by dabbing your face with toilet paper whenever you use the bathroom.
If your flakiness persists then you may have seborrhoeic dermatitis. If so then try topical ketoconazole (nizoral cream for example) to start off with. (don't wash face just apply cream twice daily)
If that doesn't work then ask your GP for doxycycline.
Just do it

Hello,
Kind of new to this so not sure how my first message will turn out on the forum. Anyway I read waterwater's message the other day and thought I would give it a go. Not washing my face with a cleanser did really help. Today I am going to quit using water because I it makes it dry. Last night I even went to bed with a Mineral Make-up left on....no problem. Usually a big no-no for ladies.
In the past I have always had trouble off and on. Sometimes I could find the right combination of products and food choices to clear things up. A few summers ago I used a basket full of items and it worked. My regiment included glycolic cream, retin-A, Nomlin's Lotion, bp cream and facial peels. I ate whatever I wanted, too. However, I did use a Burt Bee's make up that seeled my skin and protected it from outside elements while the medicine turned over dead skin cells and revealed new but fragile skin. When they quit making the make up my face turned into a mess. I have tried for 3 years to find the right combo again. I even thought about begging Burt Bee's to start remaking their products for make-up.
Anyway, I finally got on another helpful track when I started taking a liver cleansing pill. It helps rid you body of extra hormones that can reek havoc. Then I found waterwater. I gave it a try and my acne on my chin, cheeks and jaw has reduce by 50%. I probably have 7 tiny tiny bumps, no nodules anymore. Hopefully things will turn around. Also, I have changed my diet as well to a more wholesome one. I was never horrible about this, but I do think white sugar and flour can be my enemies. The herbal liver pill helped I am sure, but not cleansing my face seems to help much more. I must admit I do miss water on my face!
Day #35: Yup, breaking out again. 2 on forehead, 1 on cheek.
I just don't give a crap anymore. I can't afford to worry about acne at this stage. Screw it.
Continuing to wash with cold water once daily for the rest of my life, and that's it. Fuck perfect skin, I don't need it.

man did u masturbate on the day before? for me, everytime i fucking masturbate i get acne/pimples. i've been on this regimen for a while now and u can check my old posts to see how long. it seems masturbation is somehow causing my acne. try to only masturbate every 8-10 days and see if it helps.
