I recently found out that I also have high levels of mercury after taking a DMSA challange test given to me by my osteopathic doctor. I will be removing my fillings shortly and starting a chelation process.
From my understanding, my acne is caused by the extremely complex chain of events:
Mercury released from Amalgams in vapor form > Mercury toxicity leads to candida overgrowth as protective mechanism > candida overgrowth leads to Leaky Gut Syndrome > Leaky gut leads to overworked immune system and possible food allergies > Acne
Yep white fillings are composite resin and they are fine. However, if your parents had a lot of fillings before you were born, its highly likely that they were amalgams and that there might be some toxicity from before you were born. I am off all big fish right now (haven't touched fish in 18 years, been strict vegetarian but been eating a bit recently in an attempt to help my skin... it appears that I have inadvertently worsened it!!!)
Health Canada's website on mercury... it says women of child bearing age should limit eating fish to once a month!!! Gah...

Not sure what to think about this - but I got my last remaining wisdom tooth removed when I got my amalgams taken out... and I was speaking to a friend of mine who is a top chiropractor, and she was horrified that I had had just one wisdom tooth remaining until now - she says that its about the worst thing you can do for your body's balance, particularly hormonally. She was talking about the TMJ (jaw joint) and how that affects a whole range of different functions. She was so fired up about it, and talking so fast, I didn't get a chance to write down the specifics.
After getting my last wisdom tooth removed, my jaw was out of alignment, and some of my molars had to be filed back, which would suggest my jaw has been problematic since my initial wisdom teeth came out 7 years ago.
The REALLY strange part about all of this is that my hormonal problems came on just after I got the first 3 wisdom teeth taken out. I had never had any problems before that - never a blemish on my face. My immune system has also been really struggling since that time, after never having had a sick day in my life.
Also - possibly TMI - but my periods have been super irregular for years, and I barely ever get them. Possibly coincidentally, but maybe not, is that I got my period 36 hours after getting my wisdom tooth and amalgams out. I feel crap at the moment - but my skin isn't playing up, which is a dead-set first when it comes to that TOM.
Well I never knew of the dangers and recently had two old mecury fillings replaced for new white ones. It took about 45 mins for two teeth and cost A170. One was A100 as it was larger.
Personally I think metal ones look terrible and my teeth look much better. There is nothing worse than seeing someone laugh to reveal a mouth full of metal.
To reduce these costs you could look into getting a dental plan where you pay a monthly fee. Your dentists also offer interest free credit so you can get work done but not have to pay straight away. They do this as there is so much compeition and to incetivise you to go with them. Its great as it allows you to spread the cost and no further expense to yourself.
I know this thread is really old, but I would like to bring it to people's attention again. Also, I would like to add this in here too. Mercury and other metals can be found in vaccines. So even if you don't have fillings, you might suspect a metal toxicity. I have 3 fillings (2 now) I got a tooth pulled the other day. I had no other choice, because I don't really feel the white composite is that safe either. I'm going to get the other two pulled and go from there. Monday, I am going to get my old dental records and see the age I was when I first got my fillings in. From experience what I have learned after talking to my dad and my boyfriend and kind of analyzing them...my boyfriends tmj (lock jaw) began after he got his fillings (it went away when he got them removed) he also had a teeth grinding problem that went away when he got them removed...my dad had seboric (sp) dermatitis and lockjaw and it too has went away..i am not sure if this is the answer to many people's problems 100% but i know it can't be healthy to have mercury that leeches in your mouth all of the time not only that the mercury sits about 10 cm from your brain..i have not got tested for mercury yet because i don't really know where to go that's accurate but i definitely suspect it and the other day when my stupid dentist removed my tooth i swallowed the feeling & i have been feeling a little worse and it made my arms and legs all blotchy mainly white blotches...another thing whenever i wear my belly ring i get a big pimple like bubble right in the middle ..i have just found out recently after all these years that earrings give me somewhat cystic acne behind my ears..what i am basically saying as i am rambling on is that everyone is different...i have tried numerous things right now i am keeping my acne at bay by only washing with water..but now i am almost certain that it is something inside that's wrong..after all your skin is the LAST organ your body is suppose to use to eliminate toxins..if it is eliminating toxins in the form of bumps/pimples there is something going on inside you that you need to figure out..however..i do not have a fun journey ahead of me because my doctor is stupid...(he said mercury isn't dangerous ) what a dummy..is that why when you break a light bulb containing a little mercury you are suppose to take special measures to clean it up..okay sorry guys..let me know what you think and your experiences
