Ive been now takin it for arpox 2 weeks and 1/2 , Ive also been washing my face with proactiv, i could say now that im much much better. Im like is it proactiv or b5???? I think is both because my face is not that oily anymore (b5) and breakouts are not severe and sorta stoping. Now with b5 ive been and still taking about 13gm/day. I read the study about the b5 and it says that they were taking b5 4 times a day for better absorbtion, so thats what im doing. b5 bad? please...For the dude ^ i rather treat little dry skin than lots of breakouts, ill be lowerin my intake in 2 months or so...pick one accutane - b5 ? exactly.
questions ask me k
Well, I've been taking b5 for about 2 weeks now, and the results are under way for sure. I've tried EVERYTHING going, accutane twice, anti biots, and all the other noise. This stuff has more promise than anything I've ever tried, period. I'm not totally clear yet but, it's coming along. Though, one weird thing is, since I started taking the vits, I find myself really retaining alot of water. I think it's because I'm not taking a B complex with it, just a multi. I'm gonna buy some tomorrow and start it into the regimen, as I've read B vits have alot to do with water in your body. Any other thoughts on the water retention?
I started taking around 2gm B5 a few days ago. Last 24 hours my face has gone crazy. Not acne but almost every pore is a tiny lump and red. With make up on it doesn't look too bad, but without it I look a freak. My face feels so rough to touch, worse then ever. Is this the B5, has anyone experienced this? when did it pass? I am continuing to take the B5 at this level, I won't be increasing my dosage for the forseeable future.
I took b5 about a month ago for a week or so and it dried my skin up wonderfully in 3-4 days..however after reading some of the posts on here I got freaked out that my hair was gonna start falling out and stopped using it. The oil came back a few days later. Then, after reading more and more about it, I decided to try it again about a month later, and it didn't work as before. I used it for around 2 weeks, varying the dosage from 2g to 6g to 10g and the results just weren't the same. I even tried taking Co-Enzyme A and Pantethine but those didn't work either. Has anyone had a similar experience? Is it only a one time deal or something? I'd like to know if anyone out there has used it, stopped, and started again without any problems, because I really liked the results I got from it. Thanks!
I am new on this forum and I have been doing a lot of research on B5 today and now I am kinda wondering if this will work for my face problem. I do not have really oily skin, I would say it is normal/combination. I have tiny bumps under the skin, almost right at the surface, that eventually turn into a white head. Some of them even go away on there own. I do get some pimples though on my cheeks. When I first started noticing them I used a whole bunch of harsh acne washes, toner, masks, etc. and it really dried my skin, but the bumps came back. I think because I threw off the ph balance of my skin, because my skin isnt super oily, but since my body recognized there was no oil it produced tons to make up for it. Should I try the B5 at a low dose maybe? I was thinking about 3grams a day. 2/2/2. I just am wondering if someone has the same skin problem as me and if this has worked for them. PLEASE any help would be greatly appreciated. I just orderd my pills last night on bodybuilding.com. This time last year my face was nice and clear, except for the bumps on my forehead, but now it has spread onto my cheeks and I dont feel pretty anymore!
About five minutes ago, I look my first five B5 500mg's, I will take the other half tonight before I go to bed. Then I will have two more days of 10 pills, and up it to 20 for the next three months. Eep. That's a lot of pills.
This reminds me of when I was megadosing on Evening Primrose Oil to regulate hormones before I went on birth control. It helped for the time necessary, I guess, but I popped a LOT of pills. Ew.
At least, thankfully, these are not oil. Knowing that I was consuming the amount of calories in a small meal through oil capsules alone made me sick.
I feel confident. This has to work, right? No turning back.. The only thing I dreaded about starting was having to be committed to four doses a day.. It's going to be tough.
Few important questions, though. If one were to just stop taking them one day after being in the routine for a couple of months, would your skin just go back to the way it used to be, or will it worsen and be 10x as bad from then on? Only answer this if you actually know the facts.. Don't guess or pretend to be an expert.
And will I have to take a large maintaining dose for the rest of my life? Or is it possible to wean off completely?

I too have read the same info. What a great summary of the cause of acne.
It is probably the only info about acne I have read which doesn't blame stress or diet.
I have been on B5 for 2 weeks now and for the first week my acne got worse, as all programs do. But now after my second week, my skin is smooother and I have not had any new cysts or pimples.
I was curious about side effects and you have shed light on this. I too have experienced a bit of diarrhea, frequent urination and a little bit of upset stomach. Although I will try taking B5 with food more often to see if this helps.
Did anyone read the post by medicalmom about B5?
yeah...i'm on my 3 week on vitamin B5. First week, took only 2 grams (just to get my body use to it) 2nd week took 5-6 grams and im on my 3rd week taking 10 grams. Umm... on the 2nd week, i got a few pimples, but now it feels like my skin is not oily which is good cause we all know oil causes acne. My face was 100% clear thanks to proactiv, but i had to stop taking proactiv because i got a laser resurfacing done on my face for removal of acne scars. SOO...i had to find a way to keep my acne in control orally. So far, vitamin B5 is doing its job. Some hair falling and sometimes diarrhea.
hmm ive been on this site for awile now..just too lazy to join..lol
i used to use proactiv everyday for a year and 1/2...it was GREAT..
then i had to stop for 2 days because i ran out, and i was waiting for the next shipment to come..
and my face has NEVER been the same.
my face went crazy..
i got little bumps that would never go away..
i continued to use to practiv for about 7-8 months after that, and it did nothing except make my face worse with more bumps!!
ive also tried SA, and it does nothing for me...
and just recently those little bumps have been turning into HUGE RED PAINFUL whiteheads...
ive been on b5 for about 12 days now..and i can already see great results :]
im taking 10g a day..(5- 500mg caps 4 times a day) and Bcomplex 50 twice a day..
a got a few small whiteheads the first 2 days, but i see no new ones, and my skin is alot smoother :]
butt i have a question...i was going to start taking birtch control...ortho tri cyclin lo to be specific... do u think it would be okay to take both? have any girls here used BC and took 10g of b5? i know people who have been on BC that made their acne worse...so im just a lil worried...
okay...I'm on my 4th week now. taking 10 grams of vitamin B5. I've lovin the results, my face feels less oil to near dry. I'm not using my proactiv, just cetaphil bar. I recommend Vitamin B5 to anyone. one thing i didn't like was I HEARD vitamin B5 causes wrinkles?? how so??
Hello to all,
Just wanted to share my experience with B5.I took it for about 2 months and didn't notice any change in my acne.Though I intended to try it at least 3 months, the side effects made me stop taking it.
I was on Vilantae first off.My hair started to fall out after 1 month,I noticed hair everywhere, floor, bed, sink. And then my nails turned into really weird color and became dry. They were half white half bright pink(upper part was pink then).I stopped taking it about a week ago and my nails have become normal already.Though there is still a lot of white spots on them which also appeared while being on B5.
It might suit someone else, but from my experience I wouldn't try it again or recommend to anyone.
Good luck guys
