I dont think its b5 complex....think its straight b5....If its the kind I need to get Iam gonna buy some tomorrow
Hi, I am a starting member. Yesterday I started my first Vilantae (B5 vitamin) bottle.
I decide to take 10 pills a day (5 grams of B5) because 20 pills (as suggested) i think are excessive.
Just at the second day I encountered a quiet severe pain in my stomach and grumbling that stops only if i go to toilet.
I know that this is the best common side-effect, but is it normal it starts just from the second day? (exactly 1 day and half )
Also my excrement are tending to yellow, just like the colors of the pills.
I wanted to know if this is normal and if this will last a lot. I am afraid when i am at school or with my friend in the weekend.
Do you think my stomach can't tolerate B5 vitamin? Any suggestion (or encouragement) ?
I took mega B5 like 5 years ago but stopped because I was worried it was making me lose hair but I didn't know for sure.
I just tried taking B5 again in the last month in a lesser month to see if it would help decrease my breakouts , I am going on accutane in March, but I have been breaking out a lot recently. I only took 750 mg a day (5 grams a day, I think would die!) and my active breakouts ceased dramatically and my oil production was down, which made my bacteria go down and then didn't get any infected zits. It was great.
However, it produced horrible, horrible horrific headaches, especially in the back of my neck, and the skin on my scalp burned really bad. I felt incredibly sick from it and the headache got so bad I thought I might check myself into a hospital. Several times I got really dizzy too. I am absolutely sure those side effects were from the B5, and I stopped taking the vitamins 2 days ago and the side effects have decreased dramatically but my head still feels that way a little bit.
I'm not telling anyone not to take B5 because I think everyone is different and it doesn't affect a lot of people this way and it really works. But those side effects are real, I'm the last thing from a hypochrondriac and I've never had any other negative reaction to this degree to acne treatments and I've tried a lot of things. So pay attention to your symptoms while you are trying this b/c it is very powerful!
Geez, I hope that my body can withstand accutane if I felt like I was going to die on 750 mg of B5....!

You worried me. Do you really think that hair loss is caused by B5?
I wanted to tell that I have no more pain in my stomach only a bit grumbling, but maybe one new side effect:
I notice while pissing (and after I have urinate ) a slight burning in my urethra (the canal where urine comes out), so I am a bit worried about.
I am taking B5 vitamin for 4 days, do you think is it normal? Answer me
Yeah I'm pretty sure that the hair loss was caused by B5. But it seems like that doesn't happen to most people commenting on this thread.
See if the burning goes away soon; if it doesn't and you feel the slightest at all concerned that the B5 is causing it, I would stop taking the B5 to see if the symptoms go away.
Good luck and don't worry! All you have to do is stop taking it if it causes any bad side effects.
look at this if you are considering to use the b5 cure. i dont know how true this is but you might want to consider reading it.

Thanks. I read at first carefully, but at last I discovered it's an advertising.
Now I wanted to continue with B5 because the results i found are good. The pain in my stomach and diarrhea are gone away (now seems I have the opposite effect: i go to toilet more rarely than when i was not taking B5!! )
But i experience now a slight headache.
I discover that this could be a possible side effect (more common among women) from the site I read:
"Possible headaches during the initial 1-2 weeks of starting Vilantae. It is a rare side effect. It is more common among women. If you experience headaches stop taking Vilantae and consult a physician."
Now, since I am a boy, is there someone else (boy) that experienced the same headaches? The words i reported above taken from the site have to be interpretated in this way:
as soon as you have headache please stop taking B5
OR
wait at least 15 days, if you still have headaches, stop taking B5

Since research has caused much changes in acne regimen through the years, I want to update my stance on B5.
In a nutshell, if you choose to take B5, make sure you get the "Pantethine" form of it, not D-Calcium Pantothenate, not anything else. Pantethine, in simple words, is the best absorbed form of B5 to speed up its effect. Evolution-X and similar products will not work, if not reach undesirable effects.
It will take effect, in high doses, which means a not very cost-effective solution. Get the Jarrow Pantethine brand.
Alternative solution with the same oil reduction effect is EGCg (green tea) Take NOW Foods EGCg 2-3 times a day, and NOW Foods Guggul Extract 2-3 times a day. Good luck.
Okay, I've got a situation:
I've been on B5 for like 9 months, and I've been taking 10 grams a day for nine months. That sounds bad, but the reason I'm doing it is because whenever I try to lower the dosage it gets worse. Then, when I go back to 10g/day it's fine. I guess the question is: for how long in a row is it safe to take ten grams of B5 per day.
Wait what? So taking D-Calcium Pantothenate is just worthless because I should be taking the "Pantothine" form?
I've been taking GNC Pantothenic Acid 500 that I got from GNC and it is D-Calcium Pantothenate. I have the "Now" Pantothenic Acid which says Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B-5) (from Calcium Pantothenate) ( Calcium as Calcium Pantothenate)
What kind of B5 should I get then and from where to get the Pantothine form?
I think we should rely less on labels and more on what our gut instincts tell us. Maybe one type of B5 is more potent than another, but I think when you are taking that high of a dose I think it really doesn't matter!!! You will be getting enough of the drug dont ya think! Just go on your own experience of whether you are having success with it.
Also, whether you are a girl or a guy, if you are getting bad headaches, stop taking B5! I was taking a B complex as well and that isnt the cure for everything.
Sorry, I had to give my 2 cents. I am going on Accutane, which I am sure has probably worse side effects, but hopefully the results will last after I stop. With B5 my oil production just came back after I stopped taking it; I dont want to have to take megadoses of a vitamin every day to feel comfortable that i wont break out.

I just started taking b-5 pills 500 mg a day(which isnt a mega dose at all). I noticed right away it helped with my stress breakouts before my period. Usually i break out a lotttttt before my period!!...i dont know if this helps anybody? but i noticed that the vitamin controlled my breaking out during this time of the month atleast...i think it works because it controls my stress a lot around this time...I HOPE IT KEEPS WORKING...I will update you!!!!!but if there are any ladies with the same problem as me...PLS TRY IT
HMMM....
I've been on B5 for about over 3 weeks now and only the first week it was bad because I was going through my breakout while I was taking it. Im at 20 pills (10g) and as of today, my face has very few active pimple as before but im still getting a few pustules here and there.
Thats normal for me but I know b5 is working because when I woke up, i BARELY have any oil on my face and I usually wake up to seeing some oil where it is visible and a bit shiny under the light.
B5 is good and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try it. I also you equate apricot scrub a week after my breakout and thats really helped me b/c I think my dead skin cell build up is what caused my bad acne.
I also been taking B-complex, 1 in the mourning and 1 at night 30 min before i go to bed.
GIVE IT A TRY PPL, took 3 weeks for me!!!!

I'm not sure about that D-Calcium Pantothenate stuff, I used to work in a Health Food Store and they had different brands of Pantothenic Acid, and all of them were from D-Calcium Pantothenate, the one I bought from Vitamin Shoppe it's the same.
After almost two months of taking B5 I I can't say that I'm clear, cause I still have some cystic acne around my chin, but I definitely can say that my skin is better, I don't get a new damn cyst in my face everyday as I used to, Let's wait, I heard that the results will be seen after two, two and a half months, and that others take longer time, I think that's my case, cause I had very bad acne for a couple of years now, and I think it's a family problem, cause my brother has this problem as well.
Good luck to everyone using B5!.
