so wait B5 = Pantothenic Acid? Why not just call it Pantothenic Acid instead of b5?

im buying this tomorrow: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/brow....jsp?id=VS-1155

that's the correct amount?

I was thinking of taking:

breakfast: 7, 8-10am

lunch: 6, 1-3pm

dinner: 7, 7-10pm

should I stop taking vitamin E or what?

That is the exact brand I am/was taking. From my personal experience, you may want to start lower than the 10grams (I'm starting it again at only 1g) and work your way up. Are you planning to take a complex too? I have the B-50 complex which I take separate from the B5.

hey unisole,

its not weird, your still in the initial purging stage. apparently it takes 3 months until you will start to see continuous positive results. i am in my second month now and im just getting over a pretty bad breakout which was the result of sleeping 12 hours a day for 3 days in a row. I have found that if i sleep 7-8 hours a night this helps to clear my pimples. probably because the skin on my face isn't smooshed up against a pillow for as long. so if anyone sleeps more than 8 hours a night, try cutting it down a bit and see if it makes any difference.

Just started taking 3 days ago I am still on 5g before I up to 10g. Had all the symptoms, upset stomach, diarrhea, feeling tired sometimes and dehydration but that's because of the diarrhea. Had the initial break out but it's starting to heal already. Also got a B complex I am taking twice a day. I've never had such a reaction to a pill before, not even antibiotics. Very weird.

Quick question, is the amount of B5 that will be effective depends on your body weight? Say a 80kg person will need 10g, a 60kg person will need maybe 5-6g ?

I'm 145 pounds (about 65kg) and 4.5g a day gave me terrible diarrhea, worst of my life! Even a week after I stopped it continued. I think it just depends on each person how much they can handle. I'm take 1g a day now with no side effects, we'll see what happens!

If you're in the US-

I have 2 sealed bottles of the Pantothenic Acid/ B5 300 count caps from Vitamin shoppe exp is 04/09. qty=600 of the 500mg capsules. I have a partial bottle (i.e opened) of the B5 from GNC (at least 50 capsules 500mg exp 09/08) and a partial of the B5 complex -75, also GNC (at least 50 of the tablet type caps exp 05/07). Doc put me back on Mino and I never fully started the B5 program. If you're interested I'd like to get 35 bucks for everything and I'll ship them for free, lower 48 only. That's about 1/2 price. Lemme know via email only, because I'm not on here too much during the summer. Cya!!

Well I dont have my after pic yet but I can show you some of the progress I have been making. I am 24 years old and have struggled w/ acne for more than a decade. My whole family has had acne/been on accutane. I personally have been on accutane twice and obviously my acne came back both times.

here is my back (and yes my backne is really bad) at day number 28:

[attachmentid=5470]

here is my back at day 49:

[attachmentid=5471]

I went into this thinking it would take 90 days to clear my acne, so I still have a lot of time left but I will keep the updates comming.

I also just started taking sea salt baths. I've only taken 2 so far and I stay in the tub for about 15-20 minutes instead of my intended 30 because it is very hard to stay in there for that long.

Has anyone else noticed yellow discoloration of their urine after taking the b complex? And no I am not dehydrated as I drink about 4L a day and it is clear right before I take the pill.

i started to get chapped lips a couple of weeks ago although it went away after a week or so after using a chap stick for a while. i recommend just doing the same as i did and hopefully your dry lips will go back to normal soon enough

Wondering if anyone on B5 has had a similar experience (I'm looking for the light at the end of the tunnel!) I've been using vilantae for three weeks sticking exactly to their programme but I'm beginning to get worried. My skin (already quite oily) became much oilier after about five days and it remains pretty disgusting. The company's website says typically it takes 3-4 weeks to notice a decline in oil but in my case returning to what it was before would be a start! I'm starting a new job soon and I'm freaking out a bit about sticking with the treatment. Thanks.

BennyC,

I have had acne for 36 years and on perscription meds ever since, including accutane. Accutane was wonderful for me but the acne came back.

Went off my perscripted med two months ago and start on B5 (on my third month). Brokeout on head and face bad but stuck with it. Still get some brakeouts but not like in the beginning, skin is still very oily. Stick with it, it seems to be working for me.

Don't us sunscreen. I went to the beach my face was clear. Put on sunscreen and the next day I had little white heads on my face. Was not happy!! They dried out because I did not use sunscreen on the face after that.

Good luck!

Hi guys!

I'm just wondering if some can help me. After reading PANTO's post about B5, I started taking it (exactly how they said) but the only trouble is my face is now looking worse than ever!

I've had acne for about 6 years (it started of as cystic acne and after 2 x roaccutane it's now constantly moderate). About a year ago I started on the 'SHER' system and my face cleared up for about 3 months. After that period my skin was just very dry (with vertical dehydration lines!) and the spots kept coming back. So about 2 weeks ago I started taking B5 (10grams a day) whilst slowing running out of 'SHER' products but like I said my skin is REALLY bad.

Is this normal? Am I just stressing over nothing? But most importantly - WILL IT CLEAR?

I know that we all want that 'magic wand' - that one thing that will make us all have clear skin over night, but I'd just like to say that I would really appreciate any feedback. It's nice in a way to know that we're not alone!

Here's a few other things I'm doing/don't do as well.

I DON'T

Eat sugar - I've gotten rid of about 90% of sugar (sacarosa) from my diet.

Eat dairy products - Again I've gotten rid of about 90% from my diet.

Eat junk food

Drink wine, beer, spirits, coffee etc

I DO

Drink 2.5 to 3 litres of water a day

Have at least 5 fruit/veg a day

Excerise

Take a 27 vit/mineral multivitamin

Take extra Zinc (equiv. 130% DRA)

Sleep 7/8 hours

Any ideas?

THANKS! :D

Thanks Vikster! I hope so! ;)

Also for the person who posted about sunscreen - I use clinque stuff thats oil free and I don't break out at all. It smells a bit 'chemical' but it's ok for me and I have very sensitive skin!!!!
