unfortunately, my research into the medical world has made me realize that at times, the cures are kept secret. If you look in the Vilantae.com site, you'll notice that they discretely try to hide the fact that you're taking vitamin B-5 or pantothenic acid by calling it its source name. they dont even mention about taking the extra B-complex which i was to understand, is needed because one b vitamin is not going to work well unless they're all present. Doctors make money from their prescriptions. if the cure was right over the counter, half of the worlds dermatologists would be out of customers. I had severe acne from head to toe for 12 years and tried every thing in gods creation short of accutane to help. This was the only thing that fixed it, and not only that...in a record 4 days!!! It was amazing. I reccommend twin labs vitamins.

i started using vilantae about 3 weeks ago and it has made my skin less oily and so far has helped my acne.....i suggest checking out this site....im pretty sure it is b5..you take 20 capsules a day 5 at a time.

site seems pretty good and they give an extra 50 bucks back plus whatever it costs for the 3 bottles if after 3 months u arent happy with your results

TAC did u use vilantae or other B5 things?

I bought B5 from GNC. So far it's going really well. I have nothing new on my face since I started. My skin is less oily. I really noticed that this morning. My forehead was much less oily. My daughter has been taking it also and as far as I know she has nothing new as well. I have done a few other things along with taking the B5, although I don't feel the other things contribute to my clearing so far. I have cut out dairy products other than that cooked in foods (like butter or cheese in a meal, but no milk), and I have also cut out red meats and cut down on my sugar intake quite a bit. I also had been taking other supplements such as Vit. C 2000 mg a day, Keto 7 (enhances the immune system), Calcium with Vit. D, and Estro Balance (promotes estrogen balance and efficient fat metabolism). I have also cut down to half cup of coffee a day and started drinking about 3 cups of green tea per day.

But again, I really feel it's the B5 that has been the biggest factor so far.

So far I am confident that I am the only one on these forums to have success with 2g/day. I thought even 4g or 5g/day was too much for me and I cut down to 2g/day and still having major success.

My skin is so smooth and 50% less oily with 60% smaller pores. I swear, I can see and feel the difference. Less blackheads too, like 70% less. I think my maintenance dose could probably be 500mg or even 250mg.

My dermatologist recommended a trial of B5 therapy, as nothing else has worked for me (including 2 rounds of accutane).

The problem is, from what i can tell all B5 supplements also contain calcium. Are any of you aware of a supplement that DOES NOT CONTAIN CALCIUM?

(I have a very rare disease where there's too much calcium in my blood and have to limit my intake).

TIA :)

10g of B5 in the form of calcium pantothenate contains about 850mg of calcium. The RDA in the US is 1000mg = 1g.

You can try to cut out your milk and such if you are worried about ODing on calcium. Most food products don't have added calcium anyways and most multivitamins contain only 16% DV of calcium (162mg).

I'm tired and I don't feel like reading through everything..so taking B5 by itself isn't enough? You have to have another b viatmin to go with it?

And is it safe to take while on birth control?

Ever since I started b5 3 days ago I've had a constant headache!! I'm drinking lots of water and I always take them with food. Will they go away? If not I guess I don't care I'd rather have headaches than acne but they're still annoying.

I am on day 4 and this morning when I woke up my face seemed drier and I don't have any new pimples! My face has been so bad lately but I don't see anything new coming and all over my old pimples are drying up and are on their way out. I don't know if it's the B5 because I'm not taking nearly as much as I'm supposed to. I'm only taking a gram a day because my mom bought the 100 mg capsules and I'm not gonna take like 50 a day and also the headaches are so bad I don't want to take more than that.

I felt a change at day 4 or so also. But I'm going on almost a month now and I'm really thinking I've noticed little change. I do know I have no change in oil production. Some clogged pores (little bumps) that were under my jawline have subsided some but not a lot. My daughter started at the same time and I don't think we've noticed a big change with her either, other than some small bumps like myself. We're hanging in there for 4 months. If nothing has really changed after that, we'll move on to the next phase. (what that is I don't even know) She started on Ortho Tri-cycline yesterday. I just want something to work for her. She's so miserable about it at times. :o(

Hallo everybody!!!!!

My name is Andrew and I am from Rome (Italy)

I have started takeing B5 plus B complex and I'm going to start Vilantae too. Since now (3 days) all I can see is my face getting less oily than usual.

Anyhow I have a question for you my friends:

Do yours doctors prescribe you the B5?????

Here in Italy doctors don' t even know that B5 can be used for acne treatament.

Here in Italy doctors say that high doses of B5 is dangerous and they do not raccomand it.

I would like to be reassured from you and I would like to hear from someone that his/her doctor agree with takeing B5 in high quantity like 6-7 grams per day.

Thanks a lot!

bye.

Hello Andrew,

I personally have not run my B5 regime across a doctor at this point. I've also been taking it for over a month and have noticed very little if no difference at all in my skin. But, I will continue religiously until the three month mark.

That said, to address your question re: B5 being dangerous. I am going to go out on a limb here and say taking such large amounts of B5 somehow must create some sort of side effects, be it short or long term. I personally have experienced Zero side effects other than a little bowel problem on day 2.

I will go on to say I have been on the medication Accutane on two separate occasions. This medication is prescribed by Doctors as you probably know. The side effects I experienced while on the Accutane are too numerous to mention. The dry skin alone was horrible. I felt like a sun dried raisen the entire time I was on it. I don't recall following thru with Accutane because the side effects were so miserable.

That being said. Since I have experienced no side effects from the B5, I feel I am at MUCH lower risk taking this than I was with the doctor prescribed medication Accutane.

From what I have read, there are some people who have been given the B5 information from a doctor. But that seems few and far between.

Doctors aren't necessarily educated about all of the options out there. And if you bring information to them they will most likely just tell you it's not a good idea based on their lack of research and/or experience with it. (Not to mention a doctor doesn't get a financial kickback from you taking over the counter medication/supplements)

That is why we all need to take our own bodies into our own hands (along with the doctor) instead of assuming your doctor knows what's best for our bodies.

That's my two cents,

TAC

Why can't you just eat food that contains Vitamin B5?

I think you would have to eat an ungodly ammount of food to get the ammount of B5 you need for the "B5 method" to work.

Just wanted to add my experiences with B5 so far to add to everyone elses. I'm on about day 6, I think. I started out at 3 grams, and today will be my first day of 6 grams. I have noticed some mild side effects, but they seem to be diminishing each day. I would recommend to anyone to increase the dosage gradually, and it might prevent some of the gastro-intestinal issues people have had. I have had mild nausea, heartburn, the urge to drink lots more water than usual, and mild headaches. Also, occasionally feeling a little sleepy. By day 6 these symptoms are hardly noticeable even though I've doubled the dose. People freak out at taking such high doses, but its better than putting accutane in your body!

As for results... Before starting, my oil had increased dramatically, and I was getting the large pimples that start as a bump very deep in the skin. (I think this is due to whacked out hormones, I'm almost 36)

I haven't had one new pimple of that sort since being on the B5, and my period is even due in a few days. I have gotten a few very tiny surface zits, and I don't even think I've had those before. They always started deep, and were sore. They would usually come to a big white head filled with pus. (sorry, don't know all the acne lingo). I used some AHA cream the other night, so the tiny surface pimples could be from that. Otherwise, I've been just using cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer, bp on mustache area only, and a sunscreen. Also switched to mineral makeup.

Also, there just seems to be something different about my skin that I can't put my finger on. Its hard to describe, it just looks better - less overly oily/combination/dry/sensitive, and more evened out.

I've noticed enough of a difference to stick with the B5 for now.

I'm interested in the results people have had on B5 as it pertains to previous experience with Accutane. I was on Accutane for about 8 months and it completey cleared up my skin, worked like a charm. About 3 - 4 months after being off it my acne came back in full force.

For those of you who had Accutane work marvellously previously, did the B5 treatment work just as well, or at all?

Accutane worked wonders for me, but it didn't come back until now as adult acne, about 15 years later. B5 is already working for me after one week, and I think its for the same reason the accutane worked: my oil production was causing the acne. Nothing else worked (BP, antibiotics, retin-a). Meanwhile I got permanent scarring waiting around for everything else to work and it never did (my first Dr. wouldn't give it to me because I'm a woman).

The good thing about the B5 is its cheaper, you can take it much longer than accutane, and little or no side effects.

Andrew from Rome Italy!!!

After the first 4 days with 4grams per day something strange happened:

Thought my face was improveing very very good, some side effects came to me.

1) Headhache not strong, but was a pain in the ass for all the day long

2) I started feeling with no strenght and very sleepy

3) I started peeing very much, and my health in general was no good!

I immediately gave up with B5 and only 4 days later all the side effects went away.

Right now I would say that takeing B5 is not a safe thing (expecially more than 4 grams).....

Anyhow I started again with B5, but at this time only 500 mg daily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is that IS STILL WORKING WITH JUST 500 mg per day!!!!

I have had mild acne for 8 years and never been so clear as I am now.

In the message board I found someone else that was takeing 1gram per day with good effectiveness.

MY ADVICE: BEFORE GOING WITH 5-10 GRAMS WHY DON'T YOU JUST GIVE A TRY WITH 1-2 GRAMS OR EVEN LESS???

IT MAY WORK FOR YOU.

I will post agin in the future updateing my situation with low B5 dosage and results.

bye.

This would be a good place for me to comment. I had been taking 10 grams of B5 for over one month. I did not notice a big change. I actually noticed I was getting acne in places I had not in the past. (the back of my neck and my shoulder had one blemish). I decided to cut down to only 5 grams per day. I did this about a week ago. It's too early to tell if there is a difference but I can say I have not had any new spots in the past week. I am going out on a limb and I'm going to say 5 grams has actually proven to be more effective than the 10 grams. But I'll keep you updated.

Also, I had been using Bare Minerals make-up since starting B5. About 2 weeks ago I ran out of it and went back to using what I had been using. I could not believe how oily the bare minerals made my skin. I was dabbing my face all day to get rid of oil.

That being said, Bare Minerals make-up was not a good thing for me.

k, that's all for now
