Maybe, but it could also mean that it just won't have the effect that it used to have.

I know there is no effect while I'm not using it, but the effect will probably return when I start taking them as usual. what do u think?

so far, this is day 1 without b5, and no new pimples have formed.

I have to wait till monday for my b5

I've been on B5 for about a week and so far i'm not breaking out at all, maybe just 1 or 2 little ones. But my oil has not decreased! I'm taking about 5 grams a day..I know I should up my does, but I'm wondering why 5 grams isnt effecting my oil production at all?

I'll have to go a little higher...

So does this also improve the condition of your overall self like condition of your skin textures, everyday activity, and mind? What adverse affects does it have on you who are on this regimn? And if you have light-moderate acne do you start off with the same dose? Yours truely--Just wondering.

Ironically enough to those who bought B5 from GNC, check the bottom of the link: http://www.gnc.com/health_notes/healthnote...1002007=en

It gives B5 only 1 star for treating acne.

Not trying to discourage anyone, but those curious about B5 should have as much information as possible. Of course I'm on my 3rd day of taking B5, so we'll see what happens.

The "star rating" is based on how many medical studies have been done, and thus how much hard medical evidence there is. Since there's only really been one study done on B5, and it was not conducted in the US, it's natural that it would have a 1-star rating. It doesn't have anything to do with how well the stuff actually works....

PS: My sister is using the "Clear5" product from acne-vitamins and has gotten good results so far. She's only 2 weeks in but is noticing less oil. Started with 6 tabs, now taking 4. I'll update you guys later on how it goes.

But it also says that there is good possibility of "minimal benefits." One study, for me at least, does not provide much help.

I'm not saying it doesn't work for everyone, I'm saying I'm very skeptical. 10g of B5 a day and no side effects? I find that hard to believe. 10g is like, 10000% the DV of Pantothenic acid. Even 10000% DV of vitamin C has side effects, and Vitamin C is hard to OD on. Plus, B5 did nothing for my acne. Of course critics will say I have to be on B5 for weeks to months, but read below.

In my experiences with B5, I drank 100oz of water for only 2g of B5 a day. I urinated only 5 times. I thought this was a fluke, but it was consistent for the 10 days I was on B5 at 2g a day. This tells me that all this B5 is blocking my kidneys and such...which can lead to kidney stones or probably worst symptoms. When I was off B5 I went back to 100oz of water a day and urinated 10-13 times, like a normal healthy person should.

I'm not saying everyone has this symptom, but I'm sure I'm not alone. Because of that, I will never take B5 again until more conclusive studies have been done that shows positive benefits of B5.

Not sure how this will be long term, but I've been taking B5 for about 9 days and my acne has pretty much cleared up, what's left (very little) is small and getting there. The only thing I have to worry about (though my acne was only mild and didn't flare up a whole lot) are the red marks (they suck!)

Ok here's my experience.

I've been taking B5 for 5 months now at 10 grams a day.

It will Definitely reduce the Oil production of your skin.

If your acne is caused because you have a very oily face, B5 might work for you.

Other effect i've experienced is Loss of Weight and Fat.

I could eat and eat and manage to lose 15 lbs, go figurel. My bathroom visit was twice a day, mornign and at night to unload the kids in the toilet.

I feel fine , I haven't had any major break out ever since.

I ge whiteheads around my mouth and jawlinel, but I'm prety sure that's from Shaving and the irritation, i just hate it

I came back after reading these posts and deciding to try it to say that after 10 years of constant acne and rosecea and trying everything, dermatologists, antibiotics, and nothing working the b5 is working for me. I haven't even gone through my first bottle but I am clearing up and I can feel the difference in my skin...it FEELS different...and it is a beautiful thing to leave my apartment without wanting to put a bag over my head. I would recomend you try vilantae from evolution x, which is made specifically for reducing acne so you get clear directions, (the same 10, what, milligrams? grams? whichever to start) and it also has a money back plus $50 guarantee. Its such an incredible feeling to not be breaking out. You don't realize how horrible it is to have real acne until its gone, because you have to somehow deal with it when you have it, so you somehow do. But seeing how liberated I am feeling watching my face become clear, like a normal person, only goes to emphasize how horrible it is to be constantly and helplessly broken out. I hope this works for everyone like its working for me.

Taking 15-20 of those tablets a day for a long period of time will seriously fuck your liver up. :|

hi all, first time poster. i just started doing b5 too. i was intrigued by dr. leung's original article and decided to give it a shot. i get alot of clogged pores, whiteheads, pustules, few cysts, etc. also have extremely oily skin/hair, i mean its ridiculous my skin is so oily. have had acne since i was 14-15 or so (24 now), and have taken:

tetracycline

doxycycline

minocycline

erithromycin

azelex

differin

some sulfa drug, think it was septra?

accutane (twice)

so basically my skin is just oily as shit and its showing no signs of letting up as i get older, plus my skin prob doesnt exfoliate right so i always have pretty bad acne. at one point my acne was so bad, you could hardly see the skin on my face lol. its like those worst-case scenario pictures you see on medical websites illustrating a disease--that was me. but that was a long time ago, accutane cleared my up back then for about a year, and 8 years later..........

anyways, i started taking b5 2 days ago, vilantae brand, about 8-10g a day. doing it in doses of 2x500mg throughout the day so as to avoid taking a whole bunch at once and just pissing most of it out right afterwards. also taking a regular multivitamin and an omega3 fatty acid supplement. seems a lil early to say anything just yet, but i will keep everyone informed on my progress. i'd really like to see b5 do something for my super-oily skin. right after i started taking b5 i broke out pretty bad (about 10 whiteheads, 2 pustules) around my mouth/chin area but stuff like that doesnt phase me much. also noticed my lip/mouth area being rather dried out last night so this all seems consistent with what other people have reported.

I hope you have taken probiotics while you were on all that!!!

Does weight and height matter?

I have a pretty mild case of acne and I'm 6' and 121 lbs. Does this mean I can take less? Maybe 2g a day?

I have a light to moderate case of acne too, and believe it or not, I see results in 3-4 days taking a mere 50 mg per day. But unfortunately for me, taking B5 messes other stuff up in my body, and I'd rather have the acne than the other things, so I don't take it anymore. Damn shame, because it worked so well and made my skin so nice...

If you don't mind me asking - what other stuff? 50mg is still 5x the daily recommend amount, so I guess it is a lot; but I haven't heard of any side-effects that people have other than an extra trip or two to the bathroom.

How come doctors dont recommend this then if its safe ? :S

I never heard of it being recommended by a doctor?

:-k

Where has a doctor said its not safe? It's a lot safer than accutane, and almost as effective. It's your acne, and your choice to take B5 and cure/improve it or not.

I think doctors don't recommend it because they don't really know much about it. Therefore they wouldn't want to advise someone to take it because of some *chance* that something bad might happen. Also, when do doctors not like handing out prescriptions?

unfortunately, my research into the medical world has made me realize that at times, the cures are kept secret. If you look in the Vilantae.com site, you'll notice that they discretely try to hide the fact that you're taking vitamin B-5 or pantothenic acid by calling it its source name. they dont even mention about taking the extra B-complex which i was to understand, is needed because one b vitamin is not going to work well unless they're all present. Doctors make money from their prescriptions. if the cure was right over the counter, half of the worlds dermatologists would be out of customers. I had severe acne from head to toe for 12 years and tried every thing in gods creation short of accutane to help. This was the only thing that fixed it, and not only that...in a record 4 days!!! It was amazing. I reccommend twin labs vitamins.
