Well I'm just about done with my third 300 capsule bottle from vitaminshoppe. Each bottle is about half a month and I have decided to stick it out to 2 months. So far no results. My face is still very oily, but I have heard of people who didnt start seeing results till 1.5 months so im staying optimistic. After 2 months though i will have spent about 100 bucks on the b5, b-complexe and biotin and i dont want to waste any more money. So wish me luck these last 15 days.

Just wondering about B5 and calcium. It's calcium pantothenate, so if you're taking so much, are you also getting high doses of calcium? or is it different when it's a compound? It's water soluble so i would imagine that the calicum dissociates and is free, the same as normal calcium supplements, but this is entirely speculative.

Anyone know - B5 => high calcium intake?

Maybe its because i just woke up but I'm seeing improvements. The existing redmarks, which I thought were just left over acne "scars" seem to be disappearing rather quickly.

I just started day 3 of the initial dosage, which is only 5 grams.

At this rate, I will be clear by Tuesday. If I get clear within one week or two weeks of the 10 grams, can I drop back down to 5 grams for the next 3-4 months?

I'm taking B5 alongside my first 2 weeks of Accutane to see if it helps minimize any initial breakout.

One thing I found methodologically problematic with Hit-Leung's experiment was getting the 100 patients tested to not only orally ingest 10g/day of B5 but to also apply a topical 20% B5-containing cream 5 to 6 times per day on their facial acne. For someone trying to prove to the world his subversive hypothesis that a pantothenic acid deficiency leading to internally impaired lipid metabolism is causally linked to a tendency to acne formation, this was a rather inconclusive way to set up his experiment. The experiment's design given the introduction of another variable makes it extremely difficult to verifiably isolate the variable of orally ingested B5 as primarily effective when compared with its topical application; i.e. who is to say the cream is not twice as effective as the oral B5 doses and that it did not account for most of the observed improvement?

Furthermore, even if there are additional benefits to be derived from applying a 20% B5 cream, I know of no such cream that is commercially available. I'm not talking about panthenol in the likes of Nivea baby products, but real pantothenic acid in as high a concentration as 20% by weight of an over-the-counter product.

Does anyone here know of any such over-the-counter product containing 20% pantothenic acid as part of an affordable non-comedogenic moisturizer, and whether further benefit has been experienced from its use either alone or in addition to orally supplementing with B5?

Also, if the point of supplementing with mega-doses of pantothenic acid is to enhance synthesis of CoEnzyme A so the latter can multi-task both sex hormone synthesis AND lipid/fatty acid metabolism to the extent of reducing fatty/sebum build-up in the sebaceous glands, then why not supplement directly with straight CoEnzyme A as available in any health store?

Cool guys.

Just finished up my first 9 dollar bottle. I'm officially on day 7.

4/13, 4/14, 4/15:Spent three days at 5 grams (10 pills).

4/16, 4/17, 4/18:went up to 10 grams (20 pills) daily.

I took my 10 pills this morning. I was awaiting a shipment from the internet, but it looks like I'll have to open up the bottle I planned on returning.

No breakouts since. Skin has alittle bit more oily since.. havent changed any dietary or physical activities. still dont use face wash or ANY MEDS.. just taking a few herbal supplements.

Seems to be working well in conjunction with the herbs.

no other "NEW" pimples or breakouts... just fading redmarks!

anyone else try the time release stuff sold on acne-vitamins.com? it sounds a lot safer considering you only need to take 2 pills, 1000 mg each a day and $30 for 2 months supply is a great deal,

iceboi did you end up ordering the supply?

hey all - i'm new to the boards (a lurker) and i've been thinking about trying out B5. problem is, i have a very, very hyper-active thyroid (i'm 6'4/140 lbs/male) and i'm afraid the vitamin might mess with my hormones. i've been receiving mixed answers on this and i'd definitely appreciate some feedback. thanks!
