I started using fish oil pills in the date shown in my sig. I didn't use them for a 4 day period because I was in Las Vegas and forgot to bring the pills, but my oil started to look ''healthier''...kind of less thick on myface. when i started NHSFL at night my face got a lot oilier though. hopefully it subsides. im taking about 3-4 grams daily..hopefuly get it up to about 5 soon.
I started to take Fish oil capsules May 4th withouth fail and I am here to post pictures of my progress. You will notice in the first picture that my skin was somewhat oily and red. THe second picture was taken 2 weeks after I first started to take them and you can see my face is improving and how the last picture was taken last week and you can see how my face is not really oily anymore, the redness has gone away and overall skin tone is improving, what do you guys think?
Very good. Your last pic is almost like my state right now. Except I am having more clogged pores and it's annoying. The before picture for me would be a little bit worse, but with more redness on the nose area and more oilyness and acne.
But nevertheless, your progress is really good and I am happy it's working well 🙂
WOW, thanks for all this information NdnRomeo... I'm so excited and can't wait to go to Sams Club right after work! This is very helpful, ever since I came on this site, I've been for cautious about my skin (which I think it's a good thing, since now I'm putting the right things on it to cure it)...Question though... I believe you said you use ACV as a toner, do you use half ACV and half water? Do you leave it on? Do you use it every morning and night? I just bought but haven't began using it since I'm not too sure how to properly use it... Thanks!
I do not use acv anymore, I couldn't stand the smell no matter what I did.
But yes, you would leave it on. But what you do is before sure to use half and half minimum. Meaning that's the highest strength you should use. Start with 1 part acv, 2 parts water. That will do good if you want to use it. Best to use it under any lotion :). Adding a drop or two of lemon will help to neutralize the smell. But remember, at least 50% water.
And yes, fish oil will take time to work so give it time, that is the only downside... the time factor, sucks. But hey, acne was never cured in a day or a week 🙂

wow, that inspiring, your skin has really improved significantly, looks great. have you then also ditched grains, rice and corn?
For the person who wanted to know if there was a different brand of fish oil in the UK, I found a place.http://www.gnc.co.uk/index.asp?xs=B31D99A5...D1532BDD45D6620
I have had there brand of Pantothenic acid before, but I bought from there shop not online.
Im not sure how good this brand is though.
Thanks for the link, but I'm not sure about the quality of this brand either - they don't even name it on the website, or let you know what the EPA or DHA content of each capsule is - unless I missed that information?
Im thinking of getting some Evening Primrose and adding a couple of those in every day just for the hell of it. Anyone tried both?
I tried taking Starflower oil, which has a better GLA/LA ratio than Evening Primrose. It's better value for money as well. However, I didn't really notice much difference, and was aware that keeping taking them was boosting my Omega 6 levels up. To be fair, I only took them for about 2 weeks, and didn't really change the number of tablets I was taking, so it wasn't really a scientific test. I know ndnromeo found some good links between GLA levels and increasing DHA absorption, but the GLA comes with unfortunate addition of LA (Omega 6), but in theory it helps. That's why the Starflower/Borage oil is better than Evening Primrose Oil, because you get a higher ratio of GLA compared to LA.
Hope this helps.

for the most part I have cut most of those things out.

Thanks for the quick responce... I see, well I'll think about going on ACV since the smell is pretty strong. And I'm so excited, I just started the Fish Oil capsules today... so we'll see how it turns out. And lastly another question (To Ndc Romeo) I was reading about what you use currently and I didn't see a regimen... are you currently using any good cleansers and lotions that you could recommend???Thank You So Much!
I hope they work for you as well, but remember, people have varied rates of success. Some people, omega 3 was all they needed and they were done with acne, and some people had no effect, some even have mentioned it made them more oily. It could be from a various number of reasons, it's all too confusing.
My topical regimen is very simple, I basically just use purpose cleanser and that's it. That, or Jason's organic shampoo as a cleanser (it has all natural products and no sulfates as well, so it works well for skin too and hair). But that's it, besides the baby brush, nothing fancy. I can do without moisturizer, but not everyone can. It all depends on the status of your skin and if you use any topicals, the humidity in your area, etc.
Is this the right stuff guys and girls?http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/pro...8BFEFEE5EB88FDF

1000mg and says take 1-3 capsules per day, is that right?
Wait im really confused. Surely 1-3 of them capsules is only 1G of omega 3? And not 3G?
so is a 900MG of EPA & DHA considered 1gram to the four im suppose to take?come on just help me out its such an easy question i just bought these things and dont know how many pills 4grams is "READ QUOTE"
Yes, 900 mg is close to 1 gram. 1 gram = 1,000 mg basically. How many mg are there per pill? That number divided from 4,000 will give you how much you may take. But again, go up slowly. 🙂 Not all at once!
I'm not sure how I would be able to calculate how much to take I've been taking 14 pills but now down to 12 but I'm not sure if that's too little or too much.
Find out how much o3 is in each serving. If 1 pill = 300 mg of epa and dha combined... then 300mg times 12 = your answer =)
Any chance that fish oil can actually cause you to produce MORE oil?I've been taking 2.7 grams a day for about two weeks now and am as oily as ever. I know that's probably not enough time to get any sort of definitive results -- but for those of you who actually noticed a significant oil decrease, how long did it take?
My skin is soooooo oily it's just gross, I have to blot several times a day to keep from looking like I dunked my head in an oil vat, lol. Maybe I'm just unlucky and that's the way I am, but it's seemed even worse than usual lately.
This happened to me too. It hasn't affected my acne any though, so I wonder if having all this oil on my skin is actually good for it. I'd be interested to find out why this happens to us and not others. Maybe it is digestion.
So what if it's 432mg EPA and 288 mg DHA does that mean I add both of those amounts together and then multiply by the number of pills?
Yup 🙂
Does anybody know if it's ok to take fish oil while on Accutane? It sounds like fish oil can really help but I just started Accutane and I don't know if i should mix the two. Thanks
Matt
Yup it should be fine, it's capsulated fat basically. If you want to be sure, ask the doc, but I think it should be okay. But don't take my word for it solely.

It probably is the digestion, you are probably lipase deficient. I suggest taking digestive enzymes, it may actually turn your skin right around because of it. This is why I suspect why some of us also have to take such high doses to make any difference, because only x% gets used while the other gets excreted.
While I am on digestive enzymes, I take a lot less o3 and feel a lot better. It may be related, it may not, but I think it may be. Just a guess right now. But the only way to find out.. is try it 🙂
i'm taking both accutane and fish oil, no problems thus far. it's a fantastic anti-depressant, especially of value if you are prone to this condition because of taking the tane.
The things I can get done while I'm on o3's are awesome, in regards to mental health, without them, I literally just don't function properly and it is amazing for depressive thoughts that come with acne. To the point where mentally, I don't have any acne. Meaning it barely ever does affect me like it used to. It's almost like a confidence mask. It literally instills happiness into me and keeps me away from being negative. Without this, life would probably eat me alive.
I changed capsules today. I went to Walmart and for some stupid reason, the Spring Valley brand has a bottle of 400, but only has 180 EPA/120 DHA per capsule, and they have a bottle of 300 (its the "enteric coated"...perhaps thats important?)where its like more than 400/200 EPA/DHA instead. I had no idea you guys were adding the EPA/DHA and then multiplying it...shit, then im gonna be doing like 8 grams with this new bottle. Im down for it though, my face has not as been as under contol as it has been, so im experimenting to find what exactly gives me the best results.
I've been taking 7 390mg Omega 3 capsules (To take 8 from tomorrow to ensure I'm taking over 3 grams daily) for a few days now. On Tuesday, I was prescribed Oxytetracycline antibiotics and an anti-depressant I can't remember the name of. Am I okay to take Omega 3 with this medication? The leaflets with both the antibiotics and anti-depressants don't mention Omega 3 supplementation as something to avoid. Also, I'm currently taking my 7 capules all at once - should I split them up throughout the day? I have fairly dry, sensitive skin - after how many weeks/months should I expect to see results? Thanks a lot.
EDIT: After re-reading the first post I take it I should start with around 3 390mg Omega 3 capsules spread out throughout the day at mealtimes for the first 7 days, then increase the dosage?
Thanks! : )
