If I were to miss a whole days worth of fish oil, it wouldn't set me back any would it? (Assuming I started up again the next day?)

Nope not so much, your levels take time to get affected =)

I have noticed that I don't have dandruff like I used to. I attribute that to the fish oil. There definitely is some benefit to the fish oil.

My dandruff is also gone...my hair is sooooo soft now my barber said that I have the softest hair she's ever touched, she washed it for like 10 minutes 😀

Has o3 helped anyone who suffered from blackheads?

I seem to have more blackheads than ever now (I think from my makeup) and I'm hoping o3 will help it as well.

I've noticed something interesting. Over the past three months, my results have been pretty good, but I am not completely clear. So I've been experimenting with other things to see what other pieces of the puzzle I am missing. I keep seeing correlations but am never sure what it is. Fish oil has got me really far, like I've never been, but never 100% complete.

Over the past two weeks I've been experimenting with h1 antihistamines (alavert) and that has a positive result. But the last week I experimented with h2 antihistamines (zantac). My skin became less oily, but recently I've been breaking out more and more and today I'm starting to get white heads again (haven't had it in months!). So I stopped. I realized it wasn't because it was preventing acne, it was making my skin unhealthier since it blocks nutrient absorption. (link)

I realized, sooner than later gladly, that zantac and what not reduces absorption of zinc, primarily (link). That made me really interested, considering how recently zinc has been brought up in this thread. And studies like these (link) are always a positive. Especially how Dan takes omega 3 and zinc. It may be the last piece. But again, this is just a correlation and I have still yet to test it.

So if any of you guys are taking both together, please do let me know how it goes. I will pick some up today from walgreens and try it out.

Again, this is all just an educated guess that I may fall on my ass again, but just another thing to try because I was headed in a negative direction.

What else can we do but keep on fighting, right?

Do you use mineral makeup?

No, cos the only mineral makeup I can order from an English site is Bare Escentuals. And that makeup is shite. So I use Revlon ColourStay at the mo. And a compact from MaxFactor if I need it during the day.

I've been using zinc at the mo. Well, I'm on day 2, lol, but I heard it was good for skin.

I'm taking 100mg. I know 50mg is supposed to be the highest you can take, but my zinc doesn't have copper (which is needed for absorption), so I figured upping the dosage a bit wouldn't hurt (short term anyway).

Hm, check to see if the makeup is comedogenic perhaps.

Oh and

Don't take too much zinc: More than 100 mg daily can, over the long term, impair immunity. It can also interfere with copper absorption, leading to anemia.

http://www.rd.com/content/openContent.do?contentId=1575

Zinc interferes with copper absorption, it isn't where you get less of zinc if you take no copper. So that should be fine (I think?) =). If you take more than 100 mg be sure to take copper.

^ Ah, I must've understood the copper/zinc thing backwards then, lol.

Alas, that is the problem with makeup. Most of it is comedogenic. And if it isn't, the coverage is usually rubbish.

But yeah, if o3 has helped anyone with blackheads, please let me know :)

As for Zinc, there's debate about which form of Zinc is best for acne? The main ones are Gluconate, Picolinate, Chelated Zinc, and OptiZinc.

The most "widely" talked about form of Zinc for treating acne is Zinc Gluconate.

There is also disagreement over what is the amount is beneficial for acne. Most places that I've looked up say that around 50mg should be taken for Acne, but doses up to 100mg are safe. Doses above 100mg are not poisonous. However, doses over 100mg can result in a weakened immune system (which would be counter-intuitive in fighting acne).

NdnRomeo, so you are no longer taking antihistamines (alavert)? This is my 2nd day on 30mg of Zinc, so should I stop taking the antihistamines if I'm going to be taking Zinc?

I still take alavert, just no zantac. Alavert won't intefere with anything in your body in terms of absorption, so that's fine.

^^ Cool. Thanks. I'm currently taking 6.1grams of Omega 3's, 30mg of Nature Made Zinc, Costco Multi Vitamins (contain 15g of Zinc) and Claratin. So we'll see how it goes, My 2nd day on Zinc, so far haven't really noticed anything.

Most people take between 50 to 100 of zinc (anything after that and you need copper). And with your multi, only 20% is absorbed so don't count on that. Good luck!

I didn't know that. So i guess i'll jump up to 2 tablets a day. 30mg each. One in the morning, one before night. Thanks.

Yeah, im in the same boat as you. I started taking Zinc about a week ago, 100mg a day(might change that dosage though)...No big results yet, but I mainly started it to help heal red marks, and im also experimenting with seeing if my level of sexual activity affects my hormones and therefore my face, so it'll be hard to say which it is if I see improvement.

What's your diet like? I want to see how well everyone here is eating as well, maybe it will lead to more clues

(8:30am) Breakfast: Usually a sandwich in the morning. Ham, mustard and white bread.

(11:30am) Lunch: Rice most of the time, with different kinds of meat. Bean burritos. Various things for this meal.

(4:00pm) Dinner: Most of the time it's like my lunch. Mexican food lots. :)

(7:00pm) Snack: Just that, something small. We aren't big on buy fruit or I would have that.

Also I stay away from peanuts, eggs or anything with lots of oil.

Is cheese fine?

It depends on the individual, for most it's okay, some it may not be. If you find you don't react to it's okay. A good test is to take it out of your diet for a few days and see a difference. Some people, that was their trigger, some people it made no difference. For me, dairy doesn't 'seem' to aggravate my acne. It's so hard to tell, especially when we try to see there is any correlation and then it throws a curve ball at us when things aren't correlating lol.

Nope, the only long term effect is a great increase in health. Eventually you can get to a 1:1 level with o6 or even 1:4, so the high levels are safe, and temporary. 🙂

Omega 3 Fish Oils do not contain mercury. Just go with a trusted brand and you should be fine. NdnRomeo recomended the following Costco's Kirkland Fish Oils to me, which happen to be recomended by Consumer Reports as well as being a best buy for the quality and the price.

What questions do you have about the dosage?

Argh I can't look through 88 pages of replies to see if someone's already asked this question lol, but can anyone tell me what fish oil tablets would be best to buy in the UK?? Preferably ones I could buy in a shop, not over the net?

You should buy Holland and Barrett's EPA Fish Oil Concentrate. It has 300mg of Omega 3 per capsule. If you hurry you can get them for a third of the price they are normally, working out at 2p per capsules (4.74 for a bottle of 250 capsules). They're on offer until Sunday, so hurry!! Online or in the shop. Try http://www.hollandandbarrett.com to find your local shop if you prefer.

Or try Boots own brand Omega 3 capsules. They're quite good too, and very easily accessible, from every Boots shop. Not as good as the Holland and Barrett ones which come with Vitamin E in them, but still good if you don't live near a Holland and Barrett or can't order online. Slightly more expensive than Holland and Barrett.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your help!!
