I went out today and decided to buy some Omega 3 fatty acid capsules, but they are all contain gelatin (pork or bovine) are there any gelatin free or fish gelatin. I have searched and they are mostly only sold in U.K shipping to U.S/Canada is an arm and a leg. Also the liquid Omega 3 is very xpensive as well 200ml for $20....Help Please

I researched some facts on Flax and it turns out its as good as Fish oil, except that the EPA and DHA might not be absorbed proper because it has to be broken into those forms. So I'll just take a little more (stupid or not my logic is clear...maybe)

What do you think?

After doing some research,it became apparent that

"Follicular hyperkeratosis can be caused by a relative linolic acid deficiency"

(That was from http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/full/...4.x?cookieSet=1 but there's many more)

I decided to up my linoleic acid intake (That's omega 6, btw.) So two weeks ago I started eating lots of walnuts. (About 60g of fat a day from that). (Walnuts are almost entirely omega 6 and omega3 fats) Previously I only had around 15g of fat a day.

Pretty much all my old recurring "trouble areas" stopped breaking out. Strangely though, on the two weekends in my experiment (this weekend, last weekend), I got a spot on my cheek which never ever happened before. I still see improvement though so I'm going to keep this up for another 2 weeks.

Ndn romeo, both specific brand youave mention earlier (gnc & twin labs) are not available yet in my country. The only gncas stuff available here was the cod liver oil in a softgel form anot the liquid one-. Well my question is, .

1.Can I take the gncas softgel CLO or any brand would be okey too?, how many should I take per day?

2.I think the only liquid form of CLO available here was the scottas emulsion brand, and as far as I can remember itas dedicated for kids multivitamin. Is it possible for me to take liquid CLO from another brand (if somehow I found it) instead of gnc & twin labs, what should I pay attention of?

3.Is CLO is a must? How about a regular fish oil (in a soft gel form) as mentioned in the previous time ?

Sorry if this questions have been asked, coz itas almost impossible for me to read the whole 148 pages, . .gosh, . .big thanks for you!

For anyone still browsing this topic, I just wanted to make sure I got this right:

Daily:

-need 3 teaspoons liquid cod liver oil (omega 3)

-need 2 servings peanuts (omega 6)---by the way what constitutes 2 servings?

-need 3-5 tbsp olive oil? --i've gone back through the posts and not gotten a sure answer on how many tablespoons i need (omega 9)

-need 500 mg vitamin c

-need 50-100mg zinc

Have I got it right for the most part? Any help is appreciated.

Hey I've been taking a bit of salmon oil for quite some time, and now I want to try drinking apple cider vinegar 2 or 3 times daily. Is there any conflict by doing this? because I read that acv breaks up fat.

i've heard the same thing. I think our topic starter (ndromeo) was one of the first to point out the research about it. I would advise taking your doses at separate times during the day (like a few hours apart) if you decide to stick with fish oil & acv. otherwise just do one or the other.

problem is, I read that you're supposed to take acv around 1/2 an hour before meals, and take fish oil right after meals. so what should I do now?

There seems to be a misconception about what acv does. It will not destroy the efa's or disturb the fish oil's absorption in any way. If anything, the two would work better together.

What acv does is provide a more acidic environment in the stomache for people who have low stomache acid. This helps digest fats which makes them better assimilated. It could probably help with fish burps, which is a sign of either rancidity or poor digestion of the fat.

So don't worry at all about what taking them 2gether or apart, it's only added stress for no reason. Much ado about nothing :D

Thanks! Fish burp... is that when you burp you get that horrible fish oil taste in your mouth? because I get that quite often. I didn't think it mattered.

yup! i find it helps most if you take a multi or antioxidant pill, to take it at the same time as the fish oil (the vitamins are best absorbed with fat and certain antioxidants keep the oil from oxidizing or going rancid while digesting).

Also, taking the liquid version of clo or fish oil, as you cant tell if the pills are already rancid and there are minimal fillers, has also stopped my fish oil indigestion. I take carlons clo.

One other thing that helps is to take it somewhere in the beginning to middle of the meal so it doesnt sit in the stomache as long.

Just a question: what type of Vitamin A is found in cod liver oil?

The cod liver oil I'm taking does not contain omega-3s (it's not listed in the bottle) and only contains Vitamins A and D. I'm taking fish oils separately for EPA as well as zinc. So far, my skin is doing really good and my skin looks much better (99% clear). I'm attributing it to vitamins A and D, omega-3s, and zinc. Anyway, I'm thinking of replacing my cod liver oil to a multi-vitamin, specifically Multi+ Daily Glow. It contains the same amounts of Vitamins A and D as the cod liver oil I'm taking, but it contains the palmitate type for Vitamin A. Will this be OK?

Is it ok to take Fish Oil Caps during my Accutane course?

Yeah, the multi will be the same for vit A and D. Cod liver oil definitely contains omega 3 even if it doesnt say so. So if it's workin out 4 u, and u want to stop the clo, u may want to add some more fish oils.

It should be fine to take fish oils when on accutane, but you may just want 2 give your prescriber a call to make sure.

can someone tell me how much omega 3 (epa/dha) from fish oil i should take per day?

also, a vitamin a & d (from fish oil not beta carotene) soft gel with fish oil softgels would be the equivalent to taking cod liver oil correct?

taking codliver oil in liquid form makes me throw up.

also how much vitamin a and d are you guys getting from cod liver oil/per day and is tis your only source of a and d or are you taking additional a and d from other sources?

also when is the best time to take fish oil? before during or after meal?

Take at least 1-3 grams of omega-3.

The cod liver oil I'm taking contains about 4000 IU of Vitamin A and about 400 IU of Vitamin D per teaspoon. I take 2 teaspoons a day.

It's best to take fish oil during meals.

By omega 3, that means you need EPA/DHA at around 2-3 grams. So if your EPA contain 300mg and DHA 200mg, 1 capsule contain 500mg EPA/DHA. So you need 4 capsules in order to get 2 grams of omega 3.

I've noticed that ever since I started taking cod liver oil and fish oils, I've gained weight. Is there a correlation? I'm freaking out because I don't want to be fat.

Definitely look for other foods to blame or lack of exercise. These oils shouldn't contain enough calories to make you gain any noticable weight unles your choking down like 10 grams or more a day, and even then the oils are supposed to be used for other purposes than stored energy...

Ok you guys imo you need to take as few supplements as possible, tablets do you no good try gaining o3 and o6 through foods rather than tablets, it's really easy to get these from food.
