I take fish oil (not capsules, fish oil...) works great.Would you mind elaborating? What type, what does it taste like, how do you ingest it, what results has it shown?
can I ask any more ?'s? ??????? heh.
Orally  it suppose to taste like lemon, but the texture gets you, or at least it got me. Now, I barely notice any actual taste. I've mentioned before I have sensitive skin, and especially around my finger tips when I stop taking vitamins and using moisturizer on my hands my finger tips get cracked, the fish oil plays a big part in it. When ever I go off the fish oil (like I have for the past week  )I can tell a difference. The actual fish oil works better and more efficiently than the tablets is what my mom researched.

I agree. Liquid fish oil usually doesn't taste bad, it's moreso the oily texture like previously mentioned than is difficult to stomach. Kinda reminds me of when I was taking cocnut oil. The taste wasn;t so bad, but that feeling of in the mouth was disturbing.
dang xxndnromeoxx!!you've maneged to take most of the advice ive given and claim it as your own in the initial post!!!
what gives????
I hope you were being sarcastic. Otherwise I don't want this thread heading south, but come on its obvious that xxndromeoxx's intentions are to help others and spead useful information we can all benefit from, as opposed to getting attention and recognition (on an internet forum!) for what he's learned. But what are your intentions?
Thank you, I was somewhat shocked at that reply from him. I was more happy knowing we are all getting somewhere with this and as a group we can collectively help everyone, and by making it easier, it should enable everyone to take part, that is all. I seek no attention, I promise, just the need to help everyone because fish oil and omega 3 is God Send! It's almost a personal duty to give back now, no one should suffer if they don't have to. Now it's just the matter of how many people this works for so we can note and record all this in this thread

just let the thread progress naturally so credit is being givin to the people that work hard to add to it.
and respect the people that add to it so they will keep adding to it, if i can take no pride in my original contributions to this post then i wont post here.
I dont care that he regurgitates everything i say its just adding to the intitial post so it looks like he said it cheapens my contribution.
i worked hard to understand all the interactions of efas, for about two weeks straight researching and taking notes and looking up studys for anywhere from 3-6 hours a day, ive also contributed alot to this thread.
Everyone likes recognition for what they do , nobody would like someone else purposefully trying to get regconized by altering their initial post to try to claim credit for it, thats rude. hes IS trying to claim credit for it by doing that and thats how i see it.
im not posting on this thread anymore if im just being stepped on like that.
And please dont say that im wrong for having a sense of self worth.
dont ever say im wrong for sticking up for myself.

You also have to realize that all this information has been posted countless times before. If you topic search for fish oil, you can find threads that are 2 and 3 years old that already state everything that's been said in this thread. Seriously, most nearly everything that currently pops up on these boards have been stated and restated and then stated again. Everything you need to know about diet and acne has already been posted, but the poor search function just sits there gathering dust.
no they dont state everything, but in the context of this thread i dont want my efforts to be cheapened.that is all.
im not in the wrong for calling this out.
For what its worth I agree that most of the valuable information here was introduced by autonomousone. When I started megadosing on fish oil people were saying it was a bad idea, I was gonna die, etc. People were taking 1g of fish oil and thinking that it was workthless since they did not see any results. I megadosed for reasons unrelated to acne. Mainly, I was trying to reach a state of higher performance, indirectly I realized that this was helping my acne tremendously yet I had no idea why until autonomousone shared all the research he had put into this. If it wasn't for his research this would have gone by as one of those "miracle cures" no one cares about.
Im not saying that he alone contributed to this thread, what I am saying is that he is about the only guy here who has put into a lot of his time into finding out why this works. And why megadosing is a viable alternative. This isn't the same thing that was stated in 100 other threads, this is something new.

I agree autonomousone definitely contributed valuable info here that I learned from. Thank you! And others have too. However, I'm more concerned with us learning as much as we can and then passing the info on to as many people as possible -- and the best place to put that is in the first post of the original post where people tend to read when searching the archives. I see no problem w/ autonomousone starting a new thread and posting summarizing everything he has found also, that'd be great, its not like this the only fish oil thread anyway. However, worrying about who said what and where and when repeating what someone else said without reference seems beside the point since we all appreciate each others contributions already.

Autonomous, I think we all realize the tremendous effort you have put into researching this. I have personally benefited from this, and I thank you for that. I don't think that xxndnromeoxx was trying to steal your thunder in any way. I believe he condensed the information onto the initial page in an attempt to educate those who are just hopping on board the fishy train, and prevent needless 'why this' 'why that' and 'omg you're gonna die' crap. You know how it works around here 😆
And now, folks have you kissed your fish today?
Yes, precisely what ayla said. Plus the intial post actually has none to barely minimal influence from his articles that I couldn't understand anyway.
Yes, as the thread progressed, I too learned what to do and through the mistakes I made. Most importantly about balancing my ratio. But by editing the initial post from the advice given by everyone, that by no means implies I took what only he wrote and re-wrote, that's kind of very far fetched.
I appreciate his efforts and help in this thread, but if it warrants that kind of crying for something I never did, then I can't say I'm sorry since I never did anything wrong by taking anything. It's simply what ayla said.
Here's the breakdown.
The initial post has three section. The first section is from the bodybuilding site, then followed by what I experienced with it. Part 2 is trying to find the ratio by the website ayla posted telling me I should do so. Finding the ratio part was inspired by her idea, and learned from everyone in General by the countless posts by everyone saying it's important to balance ratios, including you. And then I simply did it to my diet and put it there as an example about how to calculate it.
If he had done a calculation, put it in a list, and a spreadsheet and I took that and claimed it as my own, then it would warrant his type of crying. But I not once took his articles that he found from someone else, and claimed that I found them. Not once did I say anywhere I discovered this knowledge. Not once did I ever deny he helped, as well as everyone in this thread. I've thanked him, and all you all countlessly.
Let's continue this thread normally now, we appreciate his help and effort, I've thanked him many times as well as everyone, but that was unnecessary to make an immature claim about taking just his information and rephrasing it when the intial post is anything but.

In fact the initial post has nothing to do with me taking anything! In terms of actually "taking" knowledge from him alone is fallacy, I can't even say I thought of his posts or influences once by making it. The only article I even read to even say I had influence from was the sheryl crow article and cancer, the other articles I can't even understand so I don't read them!

So by me saying "you need to balance your ratio as close to 1:1" warranted a response like "omg you took everything i've researched forever and you wrote it all in your first post and claimed it as yours so you can get all the attention and not me" then he SERIOUSLY needs to calm down. That is far beyond any truth and stretched out greatly and overly dramatic.
Can we just continue the thread normally?
Lets not get defensive here. We're not a bunch of kids in a schoolyard. AutonomousOne's point is that the first post comes across as if you've figured this whole thing out by yourself. There is nothing wrong with him wanting his efforts to be appreciated by random people who would come and see the first page. I agree his response was a bit drastic, there are plenty of other ways he could have said it, but his point as a whole is valid.
I, personally couldn't care less about my contributions here. As a matter of fact, the reason I megadosed on the stuff was to be stronger and leaner. And it was originally Charles Poliquin's idea, who recomends 10g of o3s in your diet. He is known as the fish-oil-guy apparently because he has all his athletes megadosing on the stuff.
I hope this clears up the misunderstanding and mainly it gets through that:
A) I don't care about being recognized for anything(I feel your reply was adressed to me in some respect)
B) I hope that the edit on the main page would make clear that this is a community project, something many people put something into.
Lets not let this escalate, we know better than that.
^ agreed, it was both of our faults. I made a mistake about not noting that, but of which I corrected last night that has been stated on the first post
Note: Everything I've learned has been through the help of people through this thread, who have posted great information. Also through links found on the web, and links posted by others. Please take the time to go through this thread and read the other information about fish oil such as selection, intake, results, what other people are doing and what results they've received. I've simply compiled all the knowledge as a researcher into one post for your benefit, so these are not my direct findings, but the application of the findings and knowledge from everyone in this thread.
i've had an earache started a day or two ago, left ear..i had a tonsil infection in the past which screwed with my ear very little, but i never get earaches.. aches kinda and i get that plugged up feeling on and off when i talk. any chance it could be connected to the fish oil? that's the only thing different i've been doing. or coincidence?

That sounds scary, how much fish oil do you take and what are some items you eat usually in your diet?
If it helps any, I have noticed no ear wax excess, but it could possibly be linked to how "it stops excess bodily secretions" or thins out the viscosity of excess fluids from the body.
I don't know if it's related, but hopefully it isn't. I haven't read anywhere that says it could be connected, or is a side effect either. 🙁
I bought some Omega 3 yesterday. I'm going to try it. Although, I don't know much about the benefits, other than heart and circulation.
From peronal experience, I've noticed that most of our acne is because our sebum is too thick and un natural to what it's original purpose is. Naturally, sebum is supposed to be like any essential oil, where it nourishes the skin. So what it does is makes your sebum normal again, by making is thinner (less viscosity) so it doesn't clog skin to create acne :).
Be sure to be taking the right amounts as well =)
The sebaceous glands normally produce sebum with linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid. This type of sebum has a liquid viscosity. It is calming to the skin and does not promote follicular irritation that leads to plugs. When linoleic acid is not available, the sebaceous glands produce sebum with oleic acid. This oleic form of sebum is irritating to the skin and promotes plugs. Oleic sebum is much firmer than linoleic sebum and is prone to producing hard plugs rather than flowing out of the follicle. This causes blackheads and whiteheads and both of these conditions may lead to acne infections.

It's somewhat unrelated but it shows how sebum isn't our enemy in it's normal state, but this is what we are trying to get it to do, help us instead

I don't think its related to fish oil. At least I haven't had anything like that happen to me.

i'm only taking 5-7 1000mg capsules a day..on a paleo type diet, veg fruits meats fish, very little sugar. idk, i hope its not from the fish oil. my left ear isnt normal, because the tonsil infection was way back on the left side. like when i get colds, they are insanely worse than normal with head pressure and ear probs, usually on the left side way worse than right. i dont have any signs of a cold though. if anything i thought the fish oil would help something like that, but idk. anyone else with any info?

I agree, just coincidence. Have you tried sweet oil for the pain? I've actually only had maybe one real ear infection, but my son has been plagued by them. Sweet oil erases the pain for him. It's just extra virgin olive oil warmed to skin temp (NOT any warmer!) and placed in the ear with an ear/eye dropper 3-4 drops at a time. The excess just runs out, his Dr suggested it.

Well, the bottle says 1000mg. Is that okay? It says to take one after a meal three times a day.

To start off with, do it as directed. one pill three times a day, after a meal. Wait for about two weeks. If you notice that the oil on your face doesn't clog your pores as much, or not at all,.. or even if it just made it less thick, you're set, it shouldn't clog pores then. If it has made it less thick, but still clogs your pores a bit but not as much as before, up it to four and so on.
Or if you really want to know exactly, try the ratio thing on the first page from the website

Well, I don't really have a problem with oil at the moment. I just wanted to try Omega 3 because of the benefits. Plus, I'm trying to lose 10-15lbs so I was told it would help.
This is a great thread. Very informative. Right now I'm taking both Udo's Choice Oil Blend and Carlson Laboratories The Very Finest Fish Oil.
Someone had a question earlier in this thread about Udo's Choice. I think it's a great source of Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9. That being said, Mr. Udo himself states that his oil is good for laying down the proper foundation of EFA and then you can add other sources such as EPA and DHA for specific issues.
Thanks!

hm. idk, i don't wanna risk making it any worse. it's a tiny better now than it was earlier
