Ive read the whole lengthy start post and I agree with most of it...
but if you wanna avoid chemicals as much as possible, then I dont understand why you put BP on your face. Aare you still using that shit? And all those supplements... what do you think those are? Pure chemicals. But if thats what cleared you... I tried many vit and min pills, but that didnt help me much.
I agree though that water doesnt cleanse your face well enough (I only used water for the last year), so I am gonna clean my face better and definitely try the skin brushing.
btw coconut oil is a very beneficial oil for your body. and flax oil goes rancid very easily, so ground flax would be better imo.
Bob you are the man.
And the guy of the baby brush is a genius
My question to you is:
My family although not italian, is very into italian food, so do I. I can't live withou spaghetti.
As you say diet is important. What about Spaghetti and all the spice sauce that we use??
Oh, here another: What about saw Palmetto do you know? What do you think.
This is probably the best thread I have ever read.
I was converted to holistic health last weekend. I did a bunch of research, and came out wondering why so many people think it's bullcrap. How can it NOT make sense? We're taught from childhood that we need lost of healthy food to get strong muscles and bones. Why should skin be any different? It IS an organ in our body.
Anyway, people nee to begin realizing that if you want to get rid of your acne, you have to do more than put on a cream or take a pill. Those things will have a lasting effect on your body. You're taking years off your life.
Why not strive for a healthy lifestyle? Is it so hard? Wouldn't you want to better your whole body? Doesn't everyone just want to, finally, feel beautiful?
That's just my input.
i think im slowly transitioning into this regimin, before i read this. 5 months ago i started dan's regimen, it got rid of 80% of my acne but my skin still looks horrible from pigmentation, scars and a little bit of acne still. in the past few months ive been phasing out junk food and going to the gym 2-3 times a week. i'm thinking i mine as well go the whole way right now and double my gym time and watch what i eat even more carefully. never took supplements before either, i guess i mine as well start.
I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!
I have always believed this was the cure, but was never truly motivated. In my eyes, the successful life needed to involve exercise, eating healthy, and drinking lots of water. I mean, to me, I was too lazy to eat something healthy... I was too busy pleasuring my tastebuds and not wanting to go through the trouble of cooking.
Now, I'm completely motivated. I've been drinking lots of water, exercising, AND eating healthy!
Trust me -- even if it doesn't affect your skin by doing this [AND TRUST ME, it should!] you'll feel GREAT in mind and spirit.
This is amazing. Well done OP.
great post, although ridiculously long.
only big complaint i had was about avoiding coconut oil because of its harmful saturated fats.
THIS IS FLAT OUT WRONG.
please do some research on coconut oil and its beneficial qualities.
NOT ALL SATURATED FAT IS BAD FOR YOU!
coconut oil's saturated fat contains medium chain triglycerides that have many positive effects when consumed internally or applied externally to the body.
in my opinion, coconut oil is the best oil to cook with.
read "The coconut oil miracle" by dr. bruce fife.
on another note, i fully agree with you about exercise contributing to clear skin.
it really does get the blood flowing and the lymph system running.
Great post just got one question, which Cetaphil cleanser do you use, the gentle one or the daily facial one? never tried any of them and they both sounds good but maybe the gentle one is too gentle so was wondering which one you would suggest? My skin tends to become VERY oily some hours after wash and dirt easily sit in the oil and often clogs my pores so think I need the daily facial one?
Hi Bob,
This seems like a very reasonable regimen. I've been doing all this research on healthy diets, and they all seem to say very similar things. A lot of what you said about food and supplements were things that I read previously. But I was feeling so overwhelmed over where to start. I have a healthy diet in the sense that the only meats I eat are chicken, turkey and fish. The only dairy I eat is cheese or creams (which I will easily substitute) and I try to eat as many raw and whole foods as possible. But I knew I needed to change/ add something. Thank you for this information, I will certainly try it.
But I did want to ask you, what is your take on retinol? I am taking .04% of retin-a at night for my scarring. My scarring isn't horrible, it seems to be fairly superficial, but I do need something and I don't want anything too strong to hurt my skin. Please let me know what you think. Also, I'm a little worried on using baking soda and a baby brush to exfoliate. Have you found other more gentler alternative methods for exfoliating?
Thank you
**I did want to mention that I finished accutane about 2.3 months ago and am left with some light bump-like acne around chin and on chest. It almost looks like a small rash.
I think this is a post that everybody really should read. It echoes somewhat the thoughts of Seppo Puusa in 'Clear for Life' in the sense of striving for complete body wellness. People (including me) find it hard to believe that not just one thing is causing their below par skin. Having said that, if there are obvious triggers they should be avoided but generally, a sensible approach to living combined with informed supplementation (I strongly believe that taking good care of the gut is of great importance, so probiotics AND prebiotics at the very least should be considered, along with a good diet), will see you through in the end. Of course that is only my opinion as I am still suffering with my complexion, but I think it has some validity. Good luck everyone.
