What bob is saying is mostly correct, I can definitely vouch for that, so listen to this guy!

The principles that is, that we can all agree upon. A good diet filled with the nutrients from fruits/greens is essential, along with plenty of water, exercise, and having a relatively healthy, moderate diet. Also, keeping your skin at a perfect balance with washing, and moisturizing effectively. I pretty much do what bob has written in a round a bout way (with a bit of difference through experimentation to benefit my body most) and now am very impressed with the results. I also take a multi vitamin, and a multi green. Let me rephrase that, I am ecstatic, it's body and mind transforming: the effects.

And it's true. Exercise is a MUST! Not an option, a must, so is proper nutrition, (greens, fruits, protein). There is a reason for everything, but it's rather tedious and long to write out why each part helps your skin and acne, but in a nutshell, your skin becomes healthy and balances the out of wack issues and levels in your body.

Go bob!

How long have you been clear buddy?

I do have one question for you:

I haven't taken any of my essential oils yet... flax, fish etc. But I do want to ask you, in terms of flax and fish oil, which one is better and why, what do you believe are the pros and cons between them? I want to start taking one, but I want to be totally sure.

Clear for just over 6 months. It feels good, now I hope to help others feel just as good.

I think that the flax is the premium oil, yet I take both. Flax is just used a lot more in the health community and there have been excellent studies on it's benefits. I say this with a skew on skin health, the fish is great but it is much better for cardiovascular health.

This is a tough debate, much alike asking someone who their favorite child is. Both oils are excellent and I hope you take both, but if you had to only chose one, take the flax.

I know that was a short explanation but I got a long week ahead and have to run, later.

Good luck!

That was very concise and perfect. I wasn't aware both were necessary. I will definitely look into this and start taking them! Thank you, God Bless

I also read the part about cleansing and exfoliation and here are some questions:

1) How can I find a soft brush? I know most tooth brushes are very hard, therefore don't seem good for using it with baking soda and cetaphil as it may be abrasive due to the brush. Are there any other replacements for a toothbrush that you can think of as well? Perhaps there may be some sort of exfoliation brush somewhere?

2) By cetaphil, you did mean the gentle cleanser correct, not the lotion (I know it may be a silly question, but I always clarify).

3) Do you exfoliate daily, after using the gentle cleanser, or is this process every x days?

Thank you for taking the time to make this thread, it helps so much!

I went to walgreens today, and found some baking soda. I looked for some exfoliating brushes and found one. I tried touching the bristles and they were still too harsh. So then it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Baby hair brushes!

When my baby brother was born, I would always play with baby hair brushes, they were so soft and gentle, and they were essentially a really soft bristled, wider area toothbrush or a really soft exfolation tool, almost perfect for the face. So I found a babys r us and bought one, and I was right, it works amazing!! I used it when I got home and do I feel great now :)

I love it when practical ideas hit you like a ton of bricks!

Exfoliating with a toothbrush is too harsh for a lot of people including myself. I tried it for a month or so and it just ended up irritating my skin. What I use to exfoliate is a cotton face cloth (changed DAILY). I make sure in the evening I take a hot bath or shower to open up my pores I wash my face with my hands and then I gently yet firmly exfoliate my face with the wet face cloth.

Efoliation is KEY, that doesn't mean exfoliating cleansers are key, those just harm your skin. If you naturally help your skin exfoliate by a gentle method like that youll see a huge difference.

If you have active spots, do not exfoliate them or you will just spread the bacteria.

ill have to agree on the circulation concept, thats probably one reason why the dipping method is so effective, it also opens pores very well.

Its also why exercise seems to improve my skin and when isit on my ass it tends to get worse.

Skin brushing seems like a good idea as well.

Genius.

That is better than what I was using. I am learning from you now!

I don't have all the answers and never claim to. What I did learn were the basics of great skincare. I'm going to buy a baby hair brush.

just wondering about the fat content in flax oil...i'm currently taking 2 tablespoons a day and noticed that it is 22grams of fat...that's 40% of the recommended fat intake per day!!!! on top of that the borage and fish oils are adding an extra 4-5grams of fat...

has anyone found that they have gained weight using flax oil? from google-ing i've found that flax oils has been implicated in weight LOSS but i'm a skeptic. the bottom line is that putting more calories IN still results in weight gain.

any thoughts?

Putting more calories in only puts on weight, if you eat more than your body can burn. Calories in vs calories OUT (expenditure). So flax oil shouldn't be anything to worry about in terms of weight gain, rather, look at the effects it has on your body and organs that help it to lose weight. And remember, there is a difference between bad fats and essential fatty acids. The body needs these fats, (EFA's) therefore are not the type to be bad for you, but rather essential (hence the name).

Research more :) The proof is in the pudding. heh.

Bobby! Thanks for all that you do!

One question.... I saw one of your posts where you said you would elaborate / say a few words about liver flushing...Maybe I missed the post, but I am very interested in liver flushing and wanted to know your opinion on this...

Alot of acne ebooks say to combine EFA's with liver flushing/cleansing for clear skin

Do you agree?

xxbobmckeexx,

just wondering about your experience post-accutane...i know you said you have oily skin but have you ever experienced bouts of dry skin or dry patches after you stopped taking accutane? and also, how was your healing time before you started flax oil? i think i am permanently dried out --> using jojoba oil AND a cream moisturizer on my face just to keep the whiteheads at bay...i'll be a prune before 30! hopefully the flax will give me a little more moisture...

I've been taking borage oil and evening primrose oil daily for a week and the pills seem to slightly help my complexion, but just yesterday I had the most awful cramps (PMS) ever- and even the painkillers didn't seem to work. I thought these supplements were supposed to help alleviate PMS especially evening primrose oil... *confused* Are the pills not working correctly for me?

Great post Bob! I'm so happy I found it.

I am currently on a crazy strict diet (no dairy, wheat/gluten, sugar) and I think this type of diet might just be too unrealistic.

Reading your post made me think that your approach is probably a better/healthier idea.

I'm have actually already been taking flax oil for about a month, and the primrose for around 2 weeks.

I'm definitely going to add borage to that, and cut out all of my other vitamins bc I feel as if I'm taking too many

(b-complex, vit c, probiotic, primrose, flax).

The excercise suggestion is DEFINITELY something I will start, but I had questions on cleansing and diet.

I have been on Accutane almost 4 times, but promised myself a year ago that I wouldn't resort back to any type of prescription.

So for the past 9 months I've been using Carley's cleansers (all natural bar soap & BP exfoliant), which helped clear much of the acne

left over after accutane. I also use their moisturizer.

Do you think I should go off of these and start using the cetaphil/baking soda method, or just incorporate baking soda instead of the bp exfoliant?

I also have some complex 15 lotion that I'm thinking of using instead of the Carley's moisturizer... I'm just scared bc the Complex 15 isnt all natural.

Okay last question, I promise!

As far as diet goes, what do you eat on a regular basis? Is there anything you specifically stay away from besides dairy, or do you just eat in moderation?

Thanks again for the post, and sorry for all the questions... I'm just very eager to get going on this.

Any help would be great :D

Do you think taking psyllium husks will help with colon? Im thinking that I get clogged pores/ acne on certain parts of the face is due to the organs not detoxing well. Do you believe that? Is that a supplement which has flaxseed, evening primrose and borage oil 3 in 1?

Thanks for the post, it was a really good read with lots of good info.

I agree with most of what you say, however you seem to look down on the consumption of coconut oil and I do disagree with that. Yes its saturated fat but I believe a reasonable amount is healthy for us. I cannot tell you the differences Ive felt in my body since injesting coconut oil, and since switching to it from heating other kinds of oils to cook veggies in etc. Ive only recently learned about the oxidation of oils, and I think thats extremely unhealthy for us. If you NEVER cook anything in oil then I guess it doesnt matter, but coconut oil is really good for that. I also take a spoonful or two of it a day, along with my omega three, six and nine blend. I think I may have had some kinda fat deficiency before I started with the coconut oil.

Now Im not recommending eating tons of other types of fats like meats and cheeses, etc, and taking a ton of coconut oil on top of it. I dont eat meat, I eat very very little dairy so the coconut oil and the efas are most of my daily fat intake. I just wanted to point out that the human body needs some fat and coconut oil has done good things for my life.

:)
