My fridge and fruit bowl has never looked healthier! Full of greens and fresh fruit!

I'm going to check out these flax seed things? Think I'll buy the pre-ground stuff if I can find it.

The green tea instead of water is a great idea! I might have to try this

Yea me too!! MY husband said he's never seen so many green things in our fridge! Now I'm working on getting better foods into my kids!

PS. I was told 2 tbsp.. on ground flax seed is good, also cleans the colon.

I've been drinking wheatgrass and kamut lately and they are truly amazing compared to these regular green smoothies. My energy is even bigger and I haven't had a bad attitude in a long time! I got my wheatgrass and kamut from iHerb.com if anyone is interested. Seriously, these seem to be really strong.

I've been doing blended salads (baby spinach, celery, apple, garlic, lemon, parsley) for a while, but very sporadically and inconsistently, but I'm going to start doing it every day. I just have a quick question, does anyone think nutritional yeast flakes would be okay to add (added in after blending)?

Why would you want to add yeast flakes?? I would have to say no I would not add them. I am on an anti-candida diet, and taking herbs to kill off the yeast and taking probiotics. So my answer would be no added yeast.

nutritional yeast (different from yeast and from brewers yeast) is an amazing source of tons of nutrients. I, too, am on an anti-candida diet, but nutritional yeast, because of the way it is processed, is safe for those with candida.

Okay, so I'm going to start adding 1 tbsp of nutritional yeast...I don't think it will interfere with the enzymes of the leafy greens and garlic, etc...right?

I was able to get whole flaxseeds at my local grocery store (chain in the northeast called Hannaford). They have a "Natural" section with bulk food and I bought it there for $1.69/lb.

Yes I grind up 2 tbsp. to put in my smoothie. Are you putting greens? You would gain fiber for colon cleansing and omega 3's from the flax. Maybe something else thats all I know of. The biggest benefit of smoothies is the blended greens.

I know people have used the oil, you would get the omega 3's benefit but not the fiber. I think you need to go to a health food store for the seeds. What you should do with the greens is mix it up. Use spinach and kale when thats out get 2 different kinds like spring mix and romaine. At the beginning of this thread their are some greens listed.

Love hearing that! 🙂

Glad you are feeling so well! In this case though, fresh is always better than dehydrated, and greens like spinach, kale and collards are incredibly high in nutrients. I'm glad this is making you feel better, but I wouldn't replace the fresh greens with this - I would only do this in "addition" to the greens - or for someone that doesn't have access to fresh greens. This could be good to add to smoothies as well. Which brand do you use? Thanks for the tip! 🙂

Nutritional yeast is incredibly healthy and a wonderful source of b-vitamins. Many say they use it in place of cheese, as it has a cheese like flavor - I have yet to find that to be the case though! I haven't tried the brand everyone says to try though, which I think is Red Star. If you don't mind the taste in your smoothie, I think adding it is a great idea!

what if I just drink this?>>>

wouldn't it be the same?

A blend of apple, kiwi, and pineapple with spirulina, chlorella, green tea, broccoli, spinach, green algae, garlic, Echinacea, barley grass, and wheat grass.

no its not the same .... when they process that juice drink it gets rid of a lot of the nutrients ... if you have to drink a bottled smoothie then those are probably the best though

What are some other good mixes like strawberry and banana that have the most nutritional value?

You probably haven't noticed anything with your skin because you don't seem to be putting any greens in. What exactly are you putting in your smoothies? Just strawberries and bananas?

i had a feeling the reason why i didnt noticed anything was cause i didnt put any greens lol stupid me. What greens should i add that are the most nutritional?

after 8 weeks of daily green smoothie consumption, i've come up with a conclusion:

daily dosage of dark leafy greens like bok choy, spinach, wheatgrass, chye sim, and fruits like apples and berries, can have a significant impact on the rate of healing of acne. this has happened for somebody like me with initially moderate to serious acne (30+ pimple counts) and most probably help those with mild to moderate acne.

daily dosage of 2 huge handful of greens yield approx. 33% more visible benefits, in terms of overall well-being and rate of healing, then daily dosage of 1 huge handful of greens.

daily dosage of 1 handful of greens is able to maintain pimple count of no more den 15 for me. while 2 handful is able to maintain pimple count of no more den 10.

this is taking into account that no OTC products(no moisturiser, no toner, no antibiotics, no retin-A; NOTHING) are used topically and only an ordinary tea-tree facial wash is used for hygiene purposes.

CHEERS to the wonders of greens!

oh and recently ive added in flaxseed to the green smoothie ^^

anybody thinks its a bad idea to take a plain unflavoured yougurt right after taking the green smoothie? i think the yogurt itself and the greens would act as a buffer to the acidic medium in our stomach hence ensuring survival of the beneficial bacteria and successful transportation to our intestines.
