i missed my smoothies for almost a week due to blackout. typhoon milenyo ruined my diet. we were forced to immediately cook and eat all the food (esp. the meat, and cold cuts) in the fridge.

manufacturers should make blenders with batteries.

Add some raspberries, and they'll disguise the color! 🙂

I like to add a spoonful of spirulina to every green smoothie I make and it immediately adds a super dark shade of green... yummy.

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful, artistic representation of the smoothies!!! Your pictures make them look so beautiful and delicious! I'm guessing that you did these? Do you mind if I add these pictures to the first post? I will be sure to give you credit for them of course. 🙂

Have any of yall tried any of the green supplements, like from the healthfood store? They come in a big can, and you basically scoop out some and mix it into a smoothie. I wonder if this would work for you all, especially when travelling or something when it isn't convenient to blend up a bunch of greens. You can just shake the powder up with some juice.

It depends on what they are made of

Some contain the strangest substance and preservatives ... others are just dried and powdered whole greens and those brands are actually as good as fresh green smoothies

I've searched for green smoothie pictures online and have never come across yours - plus, I knew you to be a very creative person due to all the creative smoothie recipes you have posted. 🙂 I love how you took a picture of all the ingredients in the blender before you blended them all - and then took a picture of the finished result. Very cool. It definitely adds to the first post! Thanks! 🙂

Dried greens being as good as a fresh smoothie? I've always heard that fresh is best, and it makes sense that fresh would be much better than dried - what brand are you talking about? Of course, if I didn't have my smoothies, then I'd supplement with the dried greens for sure!

Friesh ideally is always better and for example a fruit juice or green smoothies not consumed immediately after blended lose by not being fresh anymore much of its nutrients and starts a process of oxidization

However both dehydration and freezing are two processes which keeps intact 99.9% of nutrients and have little effect on the nutritional property of the food eaten, much more on its taste because the rehydratation or warming process won't recover the original food texture

For example when wild roses gathered in a wood are dehydrated and powdered although now in a bottled powdered form the complete nutrients spectrum (protein included) of the wild rose is there, eating the powder is like eating the whole fruit (nutritionally) as for taste and palatability that's a little different

The one I was talking about is just a small brand that they sell here on a regional level not even national.

I know the producer and he showed me how the fresh ripe fruits and baby greens are just dehydrated, powdered and stored in waterproofed little sacks or dark bottles

Just a question - can you live on this? Of course, supplementing your health with other foods.

For the past week I've been quite lazy with my diet, since smoothies are just convenient and tasty to boot. My diet for the past week.

4 cups total smoothie in the morning, consumed in one go. Substitute for breakfast.

2 vita-weat sandwich crackers (grains, dietary fibre etc) afterward for snack afterward. Filling in between.

salad and fish for lunch.

more vita-weat

vegetable stir fry/brown rice for dinner

4 cups smoothie afterward

+ I usually cosume protein shake when I can, and eat raw tomatoes, couple of carrots, celery etc at random and different times during the day.

Completely off topic, but I was just wondering.

Green smoothies and protein (legumes, nuts, eggs, dairy would be best) could make up a pretty fine diet.

All-One by Nutritech has Green Phyto Base version.

It has a full spectrum of vits/mins./amino acids and it is in a base of various Green "things" lol.

http://www.all-one.com/en/green.php

Just thought this might be convenient for those who can't do a fresh green smoothie.

No more info anyone? I just want to know if eating like this all (or most of the time) is appropriate, and adequate enough for good health and well-being.

No, you can't live on just fruits and vegetables. Or you shouldn't.

You "may" live on this

Depending on your physical activity level, height and weight though you may find it too calorically restrictive

The best way is to go by instinct and keep eating like this until you find you can't go for at least three hours after a meal without feeling hungry and feel your energy levels going down the roof

This means you'll need to add fats and carbohydrates and/or increasing your portion

Even if the currect diet may be low in calories you may sustain it short term before feeling the need to increase your energy sources

has anybody else noticed that free-range egg shells appear smaller in size and brown in color than the regular white-shelled eggs?

Same goes with apples: I have yet to see a relatively large organic apple. Or banana. Or anything. ;)

I was wondering what counts as a "green smoothie".

I bought some powdered spirulina, you are supposed to mix it in

with some juice, does this count as a green smoothie? Or do you

just mean a variety of fruits and veggies blended up, sorta like

jamba juice does?

IT said (see first page):

I wouldn't say I'm "100%" clear all the time, but any blemishes that come up are tiny are go away quickly leaving behind no marks. For the most part though, my skin is clear, and it looks really healthy too. For a while I was getting blemishes that were leaving behind scars - thank goodness a friend told me about green smoothies before I got more scars. I had mild acne on my forehead too, and that cleared up as well. If I get lazy and go a few days without the smoothies, I'll start to slowly break out again. However, as long as I do the smoothies, I never get the blemishes that scar anymore - ever.

she advised to try it for at least 6 weeks.

it think it's been helpin me too.

ive never used spirulina i do add ground flax seeds (flaxmeal) to my green smoothie.

IT posted:

This is normally how I prepare mine....

I usually just quickly chop up two pieces of fruit (Apples and pears are my favorites) into fourths and throw them in the blender. I then throw in 2 large handfuls of greens (I often do the pre-washed greens to keep it simple), I then add about 2-4 cups of water and then add about a cup of frozen fruit like strawberries, peaches, mango, raspberries, etc. As soon as it's blended, I immediately pour out the smoothie and rinse the blender out with water (every once in a while I use soap) and then let it air dry. Then, I enjoy my smoothie. Easy! This will make a batch of about 7-8 cups, so I'd drink 4 cups one day and 4 cups the next. They can be refrigerated for up to 24 hrs. The goal is to drink 4 cups a day.

green smoothie newbies, please read first page. it's where most info is.

Refrigerate? Smoothies, especially freshly made, should be consumed immediately no?
