A couple weeks ago my friend and I were arguing, and he knew he had lost so he just said "at least I don't have acne!" So I said something like: "well I have acne because my hormones are raging, which means I must have a bigger penis than you, which makes me more of a man." I think that was the only time I was a little bit proud of having acne...

I felt it was fiting to put my experiances just like everyone else. So when i do clear i can come back and see were i was coming from. Thats assuming someone can still keep this thread alive.

And man i can totally relate to your story. I've had my acne cured 4 times and it keeps coming back. This is my last and final time for acne [and red marks as well]. I think my main reason for it returning is once im clear i stop taking the medication or the antibiotics become resistant. This time no antibiotics and i'm going to keeping taking this topical retinoid till i'm 30. After you come off tane do yourself a favour and get some retinA micro to stop the acne from returning. Too many people take Tane a second time. Maintaince is the key.

Before when people advised me to "do this and do that" or "soap and water man" or "go see a derm" or "don't eat oily foods" or "eat more veggies" or "drink more water your insides are probably unclean" etc. I felt very uncomfortable.

But now I'd rather that people be upfront to me and say that my acne is bad straight to my face, provided they're only telling the truth and not trying to make fun of me. I'm more eased when they release what they hold inside, at least I no longer have to wonder what they are thinking behind their minds when it's clearly obvious my cysts and oozing pus are coming out.

This morning I went running and of course with no makeup on.. I went to tell my mother where I was going and she said.. "What's wrong with your face?"..I said.."What?" She said "It's all red".. I said, "that is because I have acne, mom."

She said, but it usually doesn't look that red. I said "That's because I'm not wearing any makeup."

I guess that isn't really a mean thing..but it kinda hurt for some reason.

you know what's the worst? i finally got up the guts to go out of the house with no makeup. GO ME! right, well i went to my psychiatrist appt. and the first thing he said to me in his french accent was "i notice you have some redness in your face. i am going to recomend a very good dermatolagist....blabla. have you tried anything for ze acne?" i told him about the accutane, benzaclin, tazorac, retin A, benoxyl etc etc etc. i almost cried. not the fact that he was mean. he was not. but it just killed the confidende i had for not wearing makeup. promptly afterwards i picked up more dermblend. damn acne. the regimen better work.

to me its when people try to help that it really sucks. i havent had anyone say anything nasty to me but i get a lot of the "what happened to your skin?" and "you never used to have umm... err.. ahh..'skin problems'" just say it already. i got zits. and when you are talking to them are their eyes leave yours and travel over the rest of your face i esp feel like shit.

but its the "drink more water", "try this cream", "dont use this cream", "eat more fruits", "eat less fruits", "eat less chocolates", "eat less meat" blah blah blah that i really get irked.

one time in the office i was in a particularly chipper mood, i thought my face was improving and i hadnt thought about it (which is rare seeing as how i am now obsessed with it). anyways, i was joking around with a workmate and told her that i thought i had an allergy to peanuts. she stopped dead serious, looked me straight in the eye and said "no, you definitely have an allergy to chocolate". the laughter died quick as shit and for some stupid reason i went bright red... i know she was only 'trying to help', but i really didnt need to be reminded at that point in time that i had acne. and i thought my face was lookin good that day too....

When I was in tech school I was the class leader and everyone didn't want to listen to me... so I guess my yelling pissed him off so much that he called me

"Crater Face.............."

I was so depressed for a while after that and I never talked to that shithead again.. this was actually the one and only mean thing that anyone has said to me...

What a jackass!!!!!!!

When I was in middle school, this girl on the school bus just came right up in my face and was like "Oxycute them!" That was pretty embarassing, to say the least. I used every product I had when I got home, and that was the longest bus ride home ever.

I think it's worse though when people think they're being sympathetic to your plight and say something like "Well, you only make it worse in your own mind by being self-conscious," or "Oh, it's not *that* bad." It somehow feels worse to me when someone tries to make you feel better without understanding.

I remember at lunch infront of all my friends my friend said "If i had as many pimples as him I'd be popping all day"

That was during the initial breakout of my accutane course

But on a lighter note, one of my good friends once said during lunch "your skin is looking really good. it's cleared up so much"

This was about 4 months into my accutane treatment. Needless to say, I was in a good mood the rest of the day biggrin.gif

Wow, so many people have made fun of my acne...its hard to choose just one incident. In the sixth grade I remeber these boys would always make fun of my acne. I remember when we were watching a movie in class I noticed they kept looking over at me and laughing. After class they asked if I wanted to see what they made. It was a picture of my face and they made sure to add all the spots that were on my forehead. The year before I remember I came to class with a new pimple and the leader of the group shouted "LOOK she has a new one."

Well, I don't know if it was the absolute meanist thing anyone has ever said to me but it was still pretty bad...A few months ago I was at Walgreens buying some face wash and some other acne products, and while the salesclerk girl was ringing all the stuff up she looks right at me with a little smirk on her face and goes...."SO, does all this stuff actually work?" ...I was totally shocked and mortified because it was so completely obvious she was mocking me about my acne ...(She had perfect skin by the way) Usually when other people had said mean comments to me in the past like "why don't you try this for your face" they were still kind of meant to be helpful...But this comment was just vicious -- She said it with the specific intent of cutting me down and making me feel like shit. mad.gif ..After she said that I just said sarcastically "Gee I don't know...this is the first time I've ever bought acne products...I'll come back and tell you if they work since you wanna know so bad." With that she shut up... so I'm glad I was a smartass right back to her because usually I just get embarrased and quiet or laugh it off even though I'm totally hurt and embarrased on the inside.

So to anyone with acne who has ever been insulted by someone--say something back! Sometimes it's the only way to show people you're not going to let them step all over you...Some people say you shouldn't "sink down to their level" and insult them back, but you don't need to cuss at them or be vicious...just let them know in a smartass way that they CANNOT treat you like crap just because you have acne and they don't.

Was at a party one time and was going to grab something to eat and someone says, "maybe you shouldn't eat that because of your face."

Needless to say, I lost my appetite.

Shit this topic hits home especially the pizza face comment that seems to be very popular. Other than a few chicks commenting on my pimples and saying what happened and other stupid stuff. The worst thing that happened was going back home after break and my mom actually screamed oh my God when she saw me. Damn hope we all find some closure from this shit

i used to take Karate, and in the class a couple people called me pizza face or whatever but i didn't give two shits, we were about to spar and i'm like i need to get angry, the guy called me pizza face, and i honestly didn't get that angry haha.

but people always make fun of this one kid's acne around me, and i'm really self concious about that shit so i get confused, i just feel confused. if someone starts joking about acne i feel really nervous all of a sudden.

I can relate so much to this.

However, I have been laughing my fucking ass off.

I have to laugh.

This may have been mentioned before, but the worst thing I ever heard didnt come from someone elses mouth,....but mine.

"Your so fucking ugly."

I will NEVER say that again.

Honestly, that was the lowest I ever felt.

Fuck what anybody else says.

Yeah I'm sorry guys I have been laughing my ass off too. Anyways, the meanest thing someone has ever said to me was during my freshman year, a group of friends, yes friends, walked up to me and one of them said

"Your face looks like its dying"

I felt like dying right there.
