Help! Will I Ever Get Better?

Hi, I'm megan and im 16 years old. Around my 16th birthday (in May) I started to develop huge papule, pustules, macules and other types of acne all over my face. I've always been the type of girl who maybe had one white head for a day or two or a couple zits but then it would always go away but now im plagued by acne all over my face and it's terrible.

I've been on minocycline (100mg 2 times daily) for almost 2 weeks and it's only gotten worse, I've seen no improvement yet. I also wash my face twice daily (morning and night) with soap prescribed by my dermatologist.

Im really scared that this acne is going to completely ruin my life. I barely go out anymore because I hate having people look at me and how bad I look. (I added pictures I just took today to mark my second week on minocycline ) I was wondering if anyone experienced the same thing on minocycline and if this will get better?? Im really really worried

I went on minocycline twice and it worked very well for me! It took me about 4 weeks to clear up. I didn't have the initial breakout but a lot of people do and that's probably all you're seeing. In my experience, I would stay on it for three months, and then my acne would stay away for about 3 months afterwards. It did come back full force every time, though. :( I was given the option of staying on a low dose of minocyline permanently, but it's not good to stay on an antibiotic for an extended period of time, let alone forever.

I'm starting on Accutane this month. I'm also going to start the acne.org regimen (minus the benzoyl peroxide because the accutane is going to dry me out). That way I'll be in a good routine after accutane, and hopefully keep it away.

Give the minocycline some time! The acne.org regimen seems promising too, so I bet you will end up seeing results if you put the two together. If not, you'll have to have tried a few things before you'll be considered for accutane, so don't give up. In the worst case scenario, you might as well check one thing off of that list of things that don't work. Good luck :)
