I had scalp acne that began at age 66 after the sudden death of my only child 22 months ago (April 2013). A dematologist prescribed a topical ointment and a mousse for treatment. I found this left my hair unmanageable, icky, and quit using after applying a few times. It may have helped if I had kept it up, however, it was too messy. I've tried a vinegar rinse, alcohol, ProActiv lotion, Keranique shampoo and conditioner. Prior to this I've always used Redkin shampoos and conditioners, but now they aggravate this condition.

The swelling right before it develops a head is very painful. I have long hair, wear it pulled back most of the time and I love to brush it, but it's very painful. I used to have it colored, but thought that might be the cause so I quit coloring last Aug. or Sept. 2014. It hasn't helped.

Has anyone else my age had this come on after an agonizing, horrible life changing experience? I would appreciate any help at all.
