You won't look in the mirror with your glasses on.

You refuse to get out of bed and go to school.

The only thing you can think about when your parents tell you you're going on a beautiful Mediterranean cruise is: "I hope my skin is clear."

Your face make-up routine takes over half an hour.

You won't ask a guy out because of your skin.

You constantly look for people with acne to feel better about yourself.

fucking ditto, except 5 :P

When you choose where you're going to sit in class depending on the good or bad side of your face.

wow, that one really resonates with me!

I did that through a lot of high school and still do it in college. It's really sad....

Ha! I never look in the mirror in public restroom because all your imperfections reveal themselves under bright fluorescent lights.

You know it's bad when this is one of your favorite threads.

You know it's bad when you see someone else with acne (no matter where it is) and just want to hug them cuz you know what it's like and what they're going thru.

You know it's bad when accutane puts you in a mood bad enough to not care to reply to unnecessary comments from someone that knows nothing about the drug or the effects it has.

You know its bad when you just dont give a fuck anymore!!!!!!!!!!

When you avoid your significant other because your face is so bad

When your late to class because your in the car trying to perfectly hide acne with makeup even when you don't care about anyone in the college lol...

When you keep the lights off in the bathroom to brush your teeth so you don't look in the mirror to avoid a myocardial infarction (heart attack)

You not only have hypertrophic scarring from acne, but you have hypertrophic scarring from trying to cut the hypertrophic scarring from acne off with a scissors.

When you learn to accept acne, then you know its bad. Acne is suppose to leave a person in pain and loneliness, not content.

You cannot move forward with your life. Your stuck in this void where all you can think about was the old you and when you were happy.

You cant accept the new scarred person you have become.

Your social life is non existent because you've pushed people away slowly for years.

You have so much anger inside of you.

You can never be happy for very long because you remember about your condition.

You look at brightly lit areas and cringe and wish you could be one of the people under those lights who look fine.

You avoid going to shops as someone you used to know might see you and think WTF.

You start to not care about fashion, makeup, things you used to love just dont matter anymore, why put nice clothes and makeup on this body.

You are scared to go into the school grounds of your daughters school to pick her up and chat with mothers, because the kids might stare at you, god kids are honest.

^This, except for the mothers part.

...You wake up at 5 o'clock in the morning just so you can keep looking at yourself in the mirror before going to school.

...You try to hunch, and shrink down as much as possible, and sit in secluded areas even when you're lonely and want to talk.

...You constantly ignore and even shun girls who like you, because you don't like yourself.

...You let bad things happen to other people because you've lost all confidence.

Edit:

when looking in the mirror actually makes you angry and disgusted

Ha! I never look in the mirror in public restroom because all your imperfections reveal themselves under bright fluorescent lights.

I'm quite on the contrary... I have a certain metre of how visible and sociable I make myself based on my appearance in those restrooms. Because in real life, when you're talking to someone, they can see all that, and not just with their eyes.

Harshly revealing fluorescent lights are real life.

You're 39 and have picked your face for over 25 yrs. and your 5 year old says, "Mommy...why do you have those bumps on your face?" Mortifying. Kids don't lie.

You constantly check your skin for new or healing blemishes.

You pick your face for over an hour every night trying to make it smooth.

You are envious of those people with perfect skin who have no visible pores.

You think 80 year old ladies have better skin than you.

You think you'd be pretty if it weren't for the acne and the pits in your face.

Finally, you realize you have acne dysmorphia and have been depressed with low self esteem your entire life and now are trying to figure out how to heal from this....

That is so true about children, they really dont hold back. I have only just heard about the condition acne dysmorphia and it really hits home. I know my skin is far from good but I think when I do improve my skin through laser etc next year even if I get it to a level where it is okay by "society norms" I still think I will have issues in my head. It is like OCD, I have to have access to a mirror at all times, and whatever has a reflective surface I HAVE to look in it, it is nuts!

Haha I agree with the 80 year old lady thing too, it's sad how obsessed we become.

I hope you and all of us can have closure some way or another one day because life is worth living.

You don't go to the dentist because you're too ashamed of your face...

You don't get your eyebrows waxed anymore, or buy makeup from department stores because you know the girls will try to ask you about your acne and what products are you using, etc...

The hairdresser is a seriously traumatic event that you have to psych yourself up for for days, and when they make you look in the mirror at the end you always want to cry (even though your hair always looks nice!)

You quit your gym membership because it's such a pain to put on all your makeup just to go work out, and then rush home to shower before you break out worse, but you can't shower at the gym because you don't want anyone to see your face right after you wash it, and you have to sit around for 20 minutes while it calms down before you do your makeup...

You're late for work EVERY DAY because you were busy hyperventilating in front of the mirror while applying more and more concealer... and walking from mirror to mirror to see your face in every possible light, from every angle...

If you have ever forgotten your makeup and couldn't go home for it, you went to the nearest Rite-Aid and bought a whole new set so you could touch-up between classes....

You haven't put up a new Facebook picture in over two years....

You daydream every day about all the things you would have done with your life if you didn't have acne...
