Private: Non-ablative Non-fractional Lasers

Compare To Other Treatments

Immediately after treatment:

  • The recovery time after non-ablative non-fractional laser treatment is minimal. Some redness and swelling may develop and last up to 7 days after treatment, but most patients can return to work or school immediately.
  • Your doctor may recommend that you apply a cold compress to the skin to ease pain and discomfort after treatment. Wound dressings are not necessary.
  • After the treatment, it is important to avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen.

Days and weeks after treatment:

  • Doctors may recommend applying moisturizer on the treated areas a few times a day for 1 week after treatment.
  • Your skin should return to normal in 1-3 days after treatment.
  • In rare cases, redness can last for more than 4 days.
  • In rare cases, swelling can last for more than 2 days.

Longer term:

  • There is usually no long-term recovery process after treatment with a non-ablative laser.
  • It is important to use sunscreen whenever the skin is exposed to the sun until you are completely finished with all of your treatment sessions and your skin has healed from your final treatment session.
  • Unfortunately, raised and keloid scars can sometimes recur (come back) after treatment. Keloid scars are particularly likely to recur.
