Immediately after treatment:
- Pain or a burning sensation is often present during and immediately after microneedling with radiofrequency. After treatment, the skin will be red and swollen and may bleed. The redness and swelling are normally mild and disappear after 7 days at most.
- There is no need to apply a special dressing after microneedling with radiofrequency. Sometimes, gentle pressure with a gauze is applied to stop the pinpoint bleeding. Moisturizer in the day or two following treatment or application of ice packs to reduce swelling and discomfort may be recommended.
Days and weeks after treatment:
- It is important to avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen for a couple of weeks. Avoid makeup for 24 hours after the treatment.
- Skin redness and swelling may persist up to 7 days at most.
- Crusts and skin peeling may form as soon as 1 day after the treatment and should subside within 7 days.1
Longer term:
- There is usually no long-term recovery process after treatment with microneedling with radiofrequency.
- It is important to use sunscreen whenever the skin is exposed to the sun until you are completely finished with all of your treatment sessions and your skin has healed from your final treatment session.
