A more dangerous way of using benzoyl peroxide that studies show works a bit better than benzoyl peroxide alone. However, when used properly, benzoyl peroxide on its own can completely clear the skin without the addition of antibiotics.

Pros:

Clears up breakouts quickly. This takes care of pimples overnight

Cons:

Slightly less effective over time. And it will bleach towels! I haven't managed to avoid this, even after 5 months. I'll wash it off my face in the morning, dry my hands on a towel, and wreck the towel. Oops.

This did not do the trick all alone, but it's great if you use it with an antibiotic. The antibiotic can clear up your acne over time, and this can be used to keep the pimples on the surface at bay. After treating my acne for 5 months I barely get pimples, and when I do this will clear them up overnight.

Pros:

- Gets rid of pimples and whiteheads
- Dries clearish
- Affordable! If you have health insurance

Cons:

- Goes on kinda gooey (but I like that since its easy to spread out)

I love this product!!! I went to the doctors and just asked if i should see a dermatalogist since my skin isn't great and she just prescribed this gel to me and said to use on pimples! It made all of them go away, and now I get an ocassional white head but its barely noticable! I even had people compliment me on my skin!!!!! I NEVER got that before. Love love love it!

Cons:

a bit annoying because it feels weird on my face(it goes a bit hard and well a bit gooey..)but you get used to it.not bad

I went to my family docter after i used countless acne medications like proactive, clearasil, neutrigena, oxy, clean and clear,etc... all those didnt work for me. so since nothing really worked for me for about 3 years.i went to my family docter, and he prescribed me antibiotics (Doxycycline), and this product(clindoxyl).I really did see a bit of results.im positive that this product will work. ps since i live in Canada, and i had some kind of insurance thing that will pay for some of the things.my original price altogether was 55 dollars . and i paid only about 8 bucks!i was really happy about that.lol

Pros:

Works quickly (saw results within 3-5 days after first application), gets rid of infection in most pimples within 2-3 days, evens out complexion nicely! Love the clear application also.

Cons:

Dries out the skin a little too much at times. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Get this product! It works super well!!

Pros:

cleared up blotches and spots. Fairly consistent and visible results.

Cons:

takes a while before you see results. Makes the skin a bit dry. Small amount of gel for the $37.

Not a bad product, but you have to keep using it.

Really works
Took me 1 month to have a flawless skin . unfortunately I had to stop using it due to my intestinal problem( ulcerative colitis) :( . If you dont have any bowel disease go for it , working even if you have big painful cystic acne

Worked great at first, lost effect after 1 year
This gel cleared up my acne very quickly. The acne did not completely disappear though. It didn't help with redness or scarring. After 1 year, it became completely ineffective on my skin and my acne resumed. This would be a good treatment for someone who needs a short term fix for mild/moderate acne.

Best Treatment Tried!
My son has had persistent mild to moderate acne for a few years now. He has tried numerous things and nothing has ever really worked. He recently saw a new derm, who recommended Onexton. And so far, it's amazing! His skin looked better within days and now at one month, he has no active acne. Previously, he had tried Retin A, Tazorac, the regimen, Finacea, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and they either didn't work at all, or only gave minimal improvement. Onexton really works!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
