A more dangerous way of using benzoyl peroxide that studies show works a bit better than benzoyl peroxide alone. However, when used properly, benzoyl peroxide on its own can completely clear the skin without the addition of antibiotics.

Pros:

Well, it cleared up the acne I had on my face..

Cons:

After I have been using it for about 2weeks, i had a terrible rash, that was itchy and very red, almost looked like i was scorched. I havent cleared up my acne on my arms.

Good for minor areas, like face etc. but i havent seen an effect on my arms yet.

Pros:

Works really well, clears things up fast and helped bleach my skin so the left over marks from previous acne was cleared up.

Cons:

It tried out the skin between my eyebrows and it would get flaky, other than that it didnt dry my skin.

Dont try any over the counter products if you have acne beyond white heads and black heads, go straight to this.

Pros:

Quick and great results. No skin irritation.

Cons:

It made my skin a little dry, but I put it on before bed, and wash and moisturize in the morning and it was perfect

This is a miracle! If you have bad skin, this is the way to go!

It's a great product, and I've been using it for one year. I'm in love with this stuff.

Pros:

It did clear my skin up.

Cons:

I broke out in a very itchy rash and my skin was very dry and red.

If you do not have sensitive skin this would be a good product to try, but if your skin is sensitive like mine DONT'T DO IT!

Pros:

cleared my breakouts completely!

Cons:

causes my face to become dry/ tight at night (when it is applied) but i don't notice it after a minute or so.
face will continue to be dry the next day unless i put on a good moisturizer.
it bleached my pillow cases and a bit of the hair around

i love it! my skin glows! get a good moisturizer for the morning. Cliniques dramatically different moisturizer works wonders. i didn't notice stinging, or redness. i was flaky for a bit (in the winter) but moisturizer cured that problem. im also using it in conjunction with tricyclen. but i find that the gel is really the deciding factor in how great my skin looks/ feels. ASK YOUR DOCTOR!!!

Pros:

Clears up acne, scarring & pigmentation. Doesn't dry out or burn skin. It works very quickly and I have not had any side effects.

Between ages of 12 to 46, I never went a day without acne, scars and pigmentation. My skin was horrible. I tried many different treatments and nothing worked. After using Clyndoxyl, over entire face nightly, I have not had any acne and it cleared up the scars and pigmentation. I was recently complimented on what perfect skin I have! Fantastic stuff. I highly recommend it.

It drys out skin

I`ve tried dozens of other products and none have gotten rid of my acne completely. My acne is almost completely gone. If you use this product with an oil-free moisturizer, you`re skin will be perfect!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
